Introduction
IFC-CCF40 is a 4 channel bidirectional binary signal transducer that
converts binary signals with a wide range input and transmits signals
over fiber to a similar remote device. The transducers are designed for
switchgear applications that require interference-free transfer of signals
over fiber optic cables. The faulty conditions can be instantly detected
via an alarm relay connection. Housed in rugged DIN rail or wall
mountable enclosures, these transducers are designed for harsh
environments, such as industrial networking where environmental
conditions exceed commercial product specifications.

Earth Ground Connection
An earth ground connector is provided on the bottom panel with an
earth ground sign next to it. Grounding the device can help to release
leakage of electricity to the earth safely so as to reduce injuries from
electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Prior to connecting to the power, it is important to connect the ground
wire to the earth. Follow steps below to install ground wire:
1. Loosen or remove the grounding screw.
2. Attach the grounding screw to the ring-type or fork-type
terminal of the grounding cable. Make sure that the
grounding cable is long enough to reach the earth.
3. Use a screwdriver to fasten the grounding screw.

DC / AC Power Connection
Removable terminal blocks on the top panel provides both power
and alarm connections. The left terminal block is for power connection.
Power can be provided through the DC or AC input. See the figure below
for example.
Alarm Relay Connection
The alarm relay contact can be wired into an alarm circuit which
senses an alarm condition when the contact closes. The alarm relay is
normally closed when there is no alarm condition. Please note that the
alarm relay contact can only support 1A current at 24VDC. Do not apply
voltage and current that exceed these specifications.

Binary Inputs (BI-1~BI-4) & MSR Relay Outputs
(K-1~K-4)
Binary inputs BI-1~BI-4 can operate with a wide range of voltage.
Logic high "1" is a voltage level of 0~250VDC with polarity reversal
protection and a pick up threshold at 18V. The logic "0" is the voltage
level that is below the pick up threshold. See below for illustrative
explanation:
- When input signals (BI-1, BI-2, BI-3, BI-4) are higher than pick up
threshold 18V / 70V (Logic 1), K-1, K-2, K-3 & K-4 MSR relay output
contacts are closed.
- When input signals (BI-1, BI-2, BI-3, BI-4) are lower than pick up
threshold 18V / 70V (Logic 0), K-1, K-2, K-3 & K-4 MSR relay output
contacts are open.
- When input signals (BI-1, BI-2, BI-3, BI-4) have no connection, K-1,
K-2, K-3 & K-4 MSR relay output contacts are open.
13
Application
IFC-CCF40 can provide 4 binary inputs (BI-1, BI-2, BI-3, BI-4) and
outputs (K-1, K-2, K-3, K-4). In the following example, BI-1 connectors
receive input signals and then send signals via fiber optic to the remote
K-1 output. The remote device reacts depending on signals received.
