This equipm ent has been test ed and found to com ply wit h the lim it s for a Cla ss B digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These lim its are designed t o provide
reasonable protection against harm ful int erference in a residential inst allat ion. This

CP60 serial handheld equipm ent uses wireless radios that have been designed and
m anufactured t o m eet safet y requirem ent s for lim it ing exposure to radio waves. When used
in accordance with t he instructions set forth in this m anual, the equipm ent has been
independent ly verified t o not exceed the em ission lim its for safe exposure to radio
frequency ( RF) energy as specified by EN50360 of EEC.
These lim it s are part of com prehensive guidelines and est ablish perm it t ed levels of RF
energy for t he general populat ion. The guidelines are based on standards that were
developed by independent scientific organizat ion through periodic and t horough evaluat ion
of scient ific st udies. The standards include a substantial safet y m argin designed to assure
the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health.
The exposure st andard for all wireless devices em ploys a unit of m easurem ent known as the
Specific Absorption Rat e, or SAR; the SAR lim it set by CE is 2.0W/ Kg.

 The use of any batteries or charging devices, which are not originally sold or
m anufact ured by CipherLab, will void your warrant y and m ay cause dam age to hum an

 DO NOT disassem ble, incinerat e or short circuit the bat t ery.
 DO NOT expose the scanner or the battery to any flam m able sources.
 For green- environm ent issue, it's im port ant t hat batteries should be recycled in a proper
way.
 Under no circum stances, internal com ponents are self-serviceable.
 The charging and com m unication cradle uses an AC power adapt er. A socket out let shall
be inst alled near the equipm ent and shall be easily accessible. Make sure there is st able
power supply for the m obile com puter or it s peripherals to operat e properly.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
 This m obile com puter is int ended for indust rial use. The m obile com puter is rated I P65,
however, the m obile com puter can get dam aged when being exposed to extrem e
tem peratures or soaked wet.
 When the enclosure of t he m obile com puter gets dirty, use a clean and wet cloth to wipe
off the dust . DO NOT use/ m ix any bleach or cleaner. Always keep t he LCD dry.
 For a liquid crystal display ( LCD) or t ouchscreen, use a clean, non-abrasive, lint- free
cloth to wipe dust off t he screen. DO NOT contact t he surface wit h any point ed or sharp
object .
 I f you want to put away the m obile com puter for a period of tim e, download the
collected dat a t o a host com puter, and t hen take out the bat tery pack. St ore the m obile
com puter and battery pack separat ely.
 When t he m obile com puter resum es it s work, it takes som e t ime for t he m ain and
backup batteries to becom e fully charged.
 I f you shall find the m obile com puter m alfunctioning, write down the specific scenario
and consult the sales representative in your local area.

Handheld 6.5, t he m obile com puter delivers better user experience and promises ent erprise
m obile com put ing.
The m obile com puter has t ransflect ive LCD t o hold up t he readabilit y in a wide range of light
conditions, courtesy of t he supplem ent ary backlight enabled by a built- in am bient light
sensor. Also on board is a G-sensor to save power according t o t he m obile com puter’s
m otion and posture. G-sensor also enables screen orientation when the device is posed
sideways or upright. Furt herm ore, the m obile com puter has int egrat ed a built-in e-com pass
and gyroscope, bot h of which provide useful funct ions in navigat ion.
The series sport s sat isfactory dat a connect ions by integrating a com m unicat ion port for
direct dat a exchange. For wireless data connections it hosts each Bluet ooth and 802.11b/ g
m odule while a HSPA+ ( 3.8G) module is provided on opt ion.
Dedicated t o dat a capture, the mobile com puter has essent ial 1D ( laser) reader or 2D
im ager. A high- specced 5 m ega- pixel cam era also com es inside t o t ake pictures and shoot
videos to deliver bet t er docum ent at ion for users.
Rated with I P65, t he rugged CP60 is light-weight ed and easy t o cradle in your hand, and will

1.1. TAKE A TOUR

1.1.2. INSIDE BATTERY CHAMBER
I nside the bat tery cham ber of the m obile com puter are the socket s for SI M card and storage
card. Each is equipped with a hinged cover.

1.1.3. BEFORE INITIAL USE
Prior t o using t he m obile com put er for the first tim e, it is recom m ended t o apply the
prot ective film over t he LCD. This will prevent scratching t he t ouchscreen during daily usage,
and also help enhance t he durabilit y of t he touchscreen.
To apply the LCD protective film :
1) Upon delivery, the touchscreen of t he m obile com puter is covered with a t hin
transparent film . Peel off and discard t his film.
2) Wipe the touchscreen with a clean, non-abrasive, lint- free clot h.
3) Carefully apply the LCD protective film to the touchscreen by aligning its edges with the
edges of the touchscreen. Make sure the film adheres tightly to the surface.

1.2. POWER ON
To power on the m obile com puter, press the Power butt on sit t ing at the upper right of
the keypad. The m obile com puter powers on.
1.2.1. POWER MENU
The m obile computer feat ures a power m enu. This m enu allows you t o select whether you
would like t o pow er off t he m obile com put er, ent er suspension, or enter sleeping mode for
m ain bat t ery replacem ent .
To ent er this power m enu, press t he power but t on. A m enu will open onscreen with a
countdown bar at t he bottom .
Menu options are as follows:

Swap bat tery
I f you would like t o replace the m ain battery pack on the m obile
computer, select this option to let t he m obile com put er ent er
sleeping m ode.
After t he m ain batt ery has been r eplaced, wake up the m obile
computer by pressing t he power butt on. All applicat ions and t asks
will rem ain active.
Suspend ( default )
When the m obile computer is not under frequent use, select t his
option t o let the m obile com put er enter suspension and save power.
This is the default function, and when no option is select ed in the
power m enu, the m obile com puter will automatically enter
suspension after 5 seconds.
When you need to use the m obile com puter once m ore, resum e it by
pressing the power but ton. All applications and tasks will rem ain
act ive.

1 Use Mobile Computer
Power off
Select this opt ion if you would like to power off t he m obile com puter.
This will close all applicat ions and t asks currently running.
To power on the m obile com put er, press the power butt on.
Cancel
Selecting this opt ion will close t he m enu and ret urn t o the previously
act ive screen. All applicat ions and tasks will rem ain act ive.
Note: I f you wish t o replace t he m ain bat tery pack on t he m obile com puter, please make
sure the following requirem ents are met. Ot herwise, the m obile com puter m ight need to be
powered on again aft er t he batt ery is put into place.

1.3. NOTIFICATIONS
The m obile com puter features visible, audible, and tactile feedback t o draw users’ prompt
awareness of the m obile com puter’s cont iguous events such as barcode reading,
wireless/ m obile dat a connections, and battery charging.
STATUS LED
Three LED lights are located on the upper- right corner of the m obile com puter. Their
functions are:

SPEAKER
The m obile com puter has a speaker on the back for audio signaling and playback.
The speaker sounds for system events, applicat ion warnings, onscreen it em s select ions and
st roke on physical keypad. I n noisy environment, the speaker rem ains efficacious with the
help of a headset. To cont rol sound volum e, see
Volum e Control.
The speaker also sounds for good barcode reading, which can be enabled/ disabled by
CipherLab’s Reader Config.
VIBRATOR
The m obile com put er owes its t actile feedback to the vibrat or built inside. Vibration
delivered to the m obile com puter alert s users of its current s stat us.
Working based on user’s sense, the vibrat or is part icularly helpful when t he m obile
com puter is serving in noisy environm ent .
Sam e as the speaker and LED light, t he vibrator works for good barcode reading.
CipherLab’s ut ilit y Reader Config enables users to turn the vibrat ion on/ off and decides the
duration.
The vibrator is also program m able. See the API library that is provided for your reference.
