1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1.1 ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING! It is the responsibility of the owner and the operator to read, understand and comply with the following:
You must check all electrical products, before use, to ensure that they are safe. You must inspect power cables, plugs, sockets
and any other connectors for wear or damage. You must ensure that the risk of electric shock is minimised by the installation
of appropriate safety devices. A Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) should be incorporated in the main distribution
board. If in any doubt consult a qualified electrician.
You must also read and understand the following instructions concerning electrical safety.
The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners of electrical appliances responsible for the safe condition of those
appliances and the safety of the appliance operators. If in any doubt about electrical safety, contact a qualified electrician.
Installation should always be carried out by a qualified electrician or a competent person in accordance with current electrical
regulation.
Ensure that the insulation of all the cables on the appliance is undamaged and safe, before connecting it to the power supply.
Ensure that the cables are always protected against short circuit and overload.
The cable should be protected by a suitably rated isolator and fuse or MCB.
2. INTRODUCTION & SPECIFICATION
The WM heating cable is intended for use in non-hazardous areas and should only be used on pipes containing water. The cable is
self-regulating and if installed according to these instructions will maintain the pipework and water at approximately 50-60⁰C. The WM
heating cable eliminates the need for return pipework and re-circulating pumps. It may be used in domestic and commercial buildings.

3. INSTALLATION
Protect the cable from the likelihood of mechanical damage or such things as being chewed by animals.
Only use the approved termination and jointing kits, the use of any other components will void the warranty.
Before applying the cable ensure the area and pipe work is clean and free of any sharp surfaces and combustible materials.
Plastic pipes MUST be wrapped in AL50 aluminium tape before installing the cable.
Secure the cable to the pipe with PF-T insulating tape at intervals of no more than 200mm, with the cable run straight along the pipe.
The system, when complete, should be fully insulated using the minimum recommended insulation thickness stated in the table
below.
Protected the system from any mechanical damage and apply warning labels (Stock Code: - PF-L Caution labels Pk10) on the outside
of the insulation.
Where the circuit is to start, a minimum amount of cable should be left outside of the insulation to facilitate connection to a suitable
junction box using the cable gland supplied in the CRJ-T1 - Termination Kit.
Cables may be joined (do not exceed maximum length 128m). T Joints can be made using approved kits of parts. (Stock Code: -
CRJ-S Splice / T Joint Kit).
All terminations and connections must be completed by a qualified electrician and carried out in accordance with current regulations.

4. ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
The cable must be earthed by connecting an suitable earth wire to the braiding of the heating cable.
The far end of the heating cable must be terminated using our terminaction kit (availiable seperatly see below)
The near end (end you wish to connect the mains cable to) must also be terminated using our termination kit (availiable seperatly see
below)
Use sutiable mains cable and type C circuit breaker as per table below.
Please Note: - If you require a longer cable length than
128m design the Heater Circuit in two parts both having
their own mains connection through their own breaker and
isolators.
5. CABLE JOINING KITS
CRJ-T1 - Termination Kit:- This kit includes all the parts required to terminate both ends of a single piece of cable.
CRJ-S - Splice / T Joint Kit:- This kit includes all the parts required to create either one splice (cable join) or one T Joint plus cover
for the bare end.
