Truck Bed Coating Applicator Kit is designed for use
with Rust-Oleum Truck Bed Coating. It is important to have a clean
surface for maximum adhesion. Kit includes a scuff pad, brush, roller
pan and roller frame and cover.
NOTE: This product may not adhere over repainted or refinished
surfaces or silicone based sealants. When coating repainted surfaces,
it is recommended to test product in an inconspicuous area to ensure
product does not lift or damage finish. If lifting occurs, allow to dry,
then strip and sand the area to bare metal.
NOTE: If the existing finish has been coated with a silicone based car
sealant, the entire surface must be thoroughly cleaned and sanded to
remove all silicone residue to allow product to adhere to truck bed
surface

..PRODUCT APPLICATION .
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove dirt, grease, wax, rust and loose paint from the
surface. Wash the truck bed with warm water and an
ammonia-based cleaner. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Wipe down
the truck bed with Rust-Oleum Wax & Tar Remover (sold
separately). Mask the entire area that will not be coated to
protect adjacent areas from paint splatter or over spray. Using
the enclosed scuff pad, thoroughly scuff sand the entire truck
bed surface. Remove sanding dust with a vacuum, tack cloth
or by using a small amount of Wax & Tar Remover on a clean
cloth and wiping the entire truck bed.
.PRODUCT APPLICATION (cont.) .
APPLICATION
Truck Bed Coating can be used directly on properly prepared
surfaces. No primer is needed on bare metal surfaces. Prepare
Truck Bed Coating as directed on the gallon or quart label.
Place the roller pan on a flat surface and pour a small amount
of product into the pan. Start by trimming the edges and
corners with the enclosed brush. This can also be achieved
using a can of Rust-Oleum Truck Bed Coating Aerosol. Start at
the front of the truck bed and work backward toward the
tailgate.
With the enclosed roller, spread a thin amount of product
evenly over the entire truck bed surface. The first coat will dry
in 1-2 hours. Important: Place roller cover in a plastic bag
and out of direct sunlight to keep the cover from drying
out. Do not leave the roller in the pan between coats.
Before the second coat is applied, test the coated surface to
ensure the coating has dried enough in order to re-enter the
truck bed. Apply a second coat to the entire surface. Make
sure to cover all missed to thinly coated areas. Allow the
coating to dry 24 hours before using the truck bed. Additional
coats can be applied to build up thickness and increase the
surface texture as desired.
