Single Bead Box Kit 17B190

For professional application of traffic marking reflective beads.

Follow these instructions when removing a smaller bead box and installing the larger 16-inch (40cm) bead box on the

ThermoLazer 300TC and ProMelt. Refer to the ThermoLazer Repair and Operation manuals as needed for additional

information.

Be familiar with the controls and the proper usage of the equipment.

Remove Gas Line

Close manual gas shut-off valve on propane tank.

1. Disconnect gas hose at the tee on the frame above

the drive axle. This hose assembly goes to the rear

screed burner manifold.

2. Disconnect gas tube (373) at valve fitting (151). Dis-

card the hose assembly.

Remove Shroud Door

1. Remove four screws (105) that secure die shroud

door (66) to die shroud. Remove and discard the

door.

2. Remove three screws that hold die support rod to

die shroud.

3. Remove die support rod. Save for reuse.

Remove Bead Box Assembly

1. Loosen bead hose retaining clamps (160) and

remove hose (189) from manifold (69a) and from

bead hopper. Discard the hose assembly.

2. Remove torch holder (204), mounting screw (141),

flatwasher (123), and locknut (97). Save for reuse.

3. Separate bead dispenser link from bead dispenser

box by removing clevis cotter hair pin (268). Save

for reuse.

4. Loosen screws (6) and slide bead dispenser assem-

bly off the mounting tube.

Torch Holder

Some applications may require drilling a new hole in the

bead box support tube to secure the torch holder.

1. Mark location for new hole 3.5-inches (9cm) from

existing hole.

2. Center punch and drill a 0.344-inch (8.7mm) hole in

bead box support tube.

Install Bead Box

1. Loosen screws and slide bead dispenser onto bead

box support tube. Align bead box drive wheel with

center of unit wheel.

2. Secure to the support tube using the bolts in the two

bead box clamps.

3. Install torch holder in new hole drilled earlier.

4. Slide hose clamps onto bead hoses.

5. Connect hoses to bead hopper and manifolds. Use

a screw driver to tighten hose clamps.

6. Connect bead dispenser link to bead dispenser box

by installing clevis cotter hair pin (268) removed ear-

lier.

7. Use a cable tie to secure outer bead hose to bead

dispenser link.

Install Shroud Door

1. Slide die support rod (34) removed earlier into die

shroud. Secure die support rod to die shroud with

three new screws (105) provided.

2. Position die shroud door (66) on die shroud and

secure with four new screws provided.

Install Screed Burner Gas Line

1. Apply pipe sealant to hose fitting.

2. Connect gas hose at the tee on the frame above the

drive axle.

3. Connect gas tube (373) to fittings at both ends.

Checks and Adjustments

Check gas lines and fittings for gas leaks. Use soap and

water mixture or LP-gas leak detector to detect gas

leaks.

Refer to Operation and Repair manuals for operation

and adjustments.
