2. Safety
The manufacturer will not be held responsible for any damages resulting from non-compliance of the
overall documentation, in particular for damages in case of non-compliance of the operating instructions.
2.1 General safety information
Observe following regulations before accomplishing all activities.
Product safety
The pump system on follower plate is constructed in conformity with the state of the art and approved
safety-related standards. Danger however can occur during use for life and health of the user or third
parties or damage to the assembly and other property. Therefore:
Operate the pump only in a technically sound state, for its proper use, and conscious of safety and
hazardstakingintoaccounttheseinstructions.
Ensure that these instructions and all relevant associated documents are complete, legible and
stored in a location easily accessible to user personnel.
Refrain from any manner of working that endangers personnel or uninvolved third parties.
In the case of a safety-relevant malfunction, stop the pump immediately and enlist a responsible
person to rectify the malfunction.
In addition to the overall documentation, observe the statutory or other safety and accident
prevention regulations, as well as the valid standards and guidelines of the respective operating
country.
Modications
Unless the manufacturer has provided its consent in writing, the manufacturer is not liable for interventions
performedbytheuser(modications)ontheproduct,suchasconversion,alteration,newdesign,etc.

Personnel qualication
The operating personnel is required to be at least 14 years old.
Ensure that personnel tasked with work on the device have read and understood these instructions
and all associated applicable documents, particularly safety, maintenance and servicing information,
before they start work.
Clarify responsibilities, competencies and monitoring of the personnel.
• Ensurethatallworkiscarriedoutbytechnicalqualiedpersonnelonly:
- Assembly, repair, maintenance
- Work on the electricals
Personnel to be trained must only work on the device under the supervision of technical personnel.
Statutory warranty
• Duringtheguaranteeperiod,obtainthemanufacturer'spermissionformodications,maintenance
work or alterations.
Use only original parts or parts approved by the manufacturer.
Duties of the personnel
Observe the notices on the device and maintain them in a legible state, e.g. rotation arrow, marking
foruidconnections.
Use protective equipment where necessary.
Do not insert anything into the suction opening.
Only perform work on the device during downtime.
Ensure that the power supply is disconnected before you carry out assembly and maintenance work.
• Allinterventionsonthesystemcanonlybecarriedoutbyauthorizedandtrainedpersonnel.

2.2 Proper use
• Thesetmustbeusedonat,stableanddryground,otherwisethesetmayfall.
Do not park below the follower plate.
Do not put your hands between the follower plate and the drum before and during the lowering or
raising of the plate.
In the event of a hydraulic leak from FLUIDABIO, clean the area with clear water, having taken care to
isolate the system from the electrical and pneumatic connections.
Beware of the risk of falling on the soiled or wet area.
Before any operation on the system, disconnect the power supply, the compressed air and the
product delivery hoses.
For any dismantling of the elements, use the appropriate lifting and handling means.
• Thepumpmustonlybeoperatedinaverticalposition(Seeoperatinginstructionpumptube)
Only use the pump for suitable liquid.
Avoid dry running.
- Make sure that the pump is only started with the liquid to be pumped and that it is not operated
without liquid.
In the case of delivery of pump tubes without a motor, the addition to a pump unit must be carried
out in accordance with the provisions of the machinery directive 2006/42/EC.
If the product and supplied accessories are used for other purposes than the intended purpose, it is the
responsibilityoftheusertocheckthesuitabilityandadmissibility.Productusenotconrmedinwritingby
the manufacturer absolves the manufacturer of any liability. The manufacturer is not liable for consequences
of incorrect treatment, use, maintenance, servicing and operation of the appliance, as well as normal wear
andtear.Thesameappliesiffaultsarisefrominterventionorcongurationsonthepartoftheusernot
conrmedbythemanufacturer.
Prevention of obvious misapplications (examples)
• Respecttheoperatinglimitsofthepumpwithregardtotemperature,pressure,owrateandspeed.
The power consumption of the pump increases with increasing viscosity of the pumped liquid.
Observe the permissible viscosity range to avoid overloading the pump, coupling and motor. Low
density and viscosity is allowed.
• Whenpumpingliquidscontainingsolids,observethelimitvaluesforsolidscontentandparticlesize.
Do not use the pump tube to lift objects.

3. Description of the device
Mobile trolley made of stainless steel with four wheels, 2 of which are swivel wheels with brakes.
Thetwofrontwheelsarexed.

system.

customer's requirements.
1 integrated control panel for controlling the system.
1 socket 400 V 3~+N+PE 16A plug for power supply.
4. Field of application
The mobile follower plate system is used for emptying viscous products, from drums or similar
containers,whicharenolongerfree-owingthemselves.
5. Before commissioning
! WARNING
Danger of crushing due to tilting of the unit!
►Place the device on an even and level surface.
Wear safety shoes to avoid injuries.
Make sure that the ceiling height allows the cylinder to be fully extended.
Work in an area that is free of obstacles that could hinder the movement of the mobile trolley.

6. Starting up
Procedure for setting up the trolley with follower plate.
! DANGER
Incorrect connection of the plug could cause an electric
shock.
►Read the instructions for the plug carefully and keep it in a
safe place.
! WARNING
The unit may start uncontrolled when the power supply is
restored!
►Before connecting to the power source, check that all
switches are set to “OFF”.
►Connect the 400V 3~+N+PE plug to the mains socket A.

7. Extending the hydraulic system

! CAUTION
Risk of impact when lifting the plate.
Make sure that there are no persons in the
vicinity of the moving parts.
Keep the push button "LIFT UP" pressed, until
the cylinder is completely extended.
Slight vibrations may occur during this process.
When the cylinder is in the extended position,
push the trolley under the pallet on which the
drum to be emptied is located.
Activate the brake on the two rear wheels B.

8. Lowering the follower plate onto
the uid
! WARNING
Other hazards may result from improper use
of the pump.
►Before starting operation, read the operating
instructions of the pump carefully.
When the trolley with follower plate is in the upper
position above the drum to be emptied, set the
switch "LOWER” for the hydraulic controls to
"ON".
The cylinder will then start lowering the follower
plate.
Make sure that the follower plate is centred on
the drum to be emptied and adjust it if necessary
during lowering.
Make sure that nothing can obstruct the lowering
ofthecylinder(drumcover,etc.).
Depending on the viscosity of the liquid, some
of the liquid may pass over the sealing lip of the
follower plate.
Do not reach with your hands between the
follower plate and the drum!
Pressing the black push button “STOP” stops the
pump and the lowering of the follower plate.
To reactivate the pump, release the push button
and press the switch "PUMP ON/OFF" .
The pump must remain switched o until the
plate is lowered onto the uid level.

9. Emptying the drums
As soon as the follower plate is lowered on the
uidlevel:
Install the pressure hose using the appropriate
connections at the outlet of the pump.
(Seeoperatinginstructionsofthepump).
Set the switch "PUMP ON/OFF" to the „ON“
position.
The transfer process is started, the follower
platelowerslinearlywiththeuidlevelinthe
container.
10. Finishing the emptying process
When the drum is empty, the limit switch stops
the pump B70 C.
Potentiometer „A“ D allows the detection
distance to be set for the pump to stop
automatically when the drum is empty. This must
be adjusted to the application depending on the
height of the pallets and containers.
Pressing the black push button “STOP” stops
the pump and the lowering of the follower plate.
To avoid damage to the mechanical seal of the
pump, dry running must be excluded.

11. Raising the follower plate
Set the switch “LOWER” for the hydraulic
control to "OFF".
Open the ball valve for the compressed air supply
by opening the valve 1/4 turn. The incoming air
regulates the negative pressure that would occur
when the plate is extended E.
Press and hold the push button "LIFT UP" ,
parallel to the incoming air, until the cylinder is
completely extended.
Close the compressed air ball valve as soon as the
plate is fully moved out of the drum.
Release the brakes on the two rear wheels and
pull the trolley away from the underside of the
pallet.
Then lower the cylinder again.

12. Disassembling the electric
motor
With the system switched o and the wheel
brakes tightened
Disconnect the compressed air hose, uncouple
the follower plate from the pump and the pump
tube from the motor G (see operating
instructionofthepump).
Open the cover of the frequency converter or the
terminal box and dismantle the cables, having
marked them beforehand.
Loosen and remove the 4 bolts with two 17mm
spanners and remove the motor I.
13. Venting the hydraulics
In the event of a jerky lowering of the cylinder,
the hydraulic system of the cylinder must be
vented.
Lift the cylinder halfway, open the plug (cap,
cover),pressthecoverwithasmallscrewdriverto
releasetheair.Assoonashydraulicoilows,stop
pressing and put the plug back on F.

14. Troubleshooting
Leakage of hydraulic oil
Check the hydraulic couplings for leaks
Replace them if they are defective.
Top up the oil level in the hydraulic unit tank if necessary.
Hydraulicoil(FLUIDABIO®-propyleneglycol+waterFDAapproved).
The hydraulic cylinder does not move upwards
Check the power supply
Check the hydraulic oil level in the tank of the hydraulic unit.
Check the hydraulic connections
Check that the switch “LOWER” for the hydraulic control is in the "OFF" position
The cylinder does not lift the follower plate into the drum
Check the power supply
Check the hydraulic oil level in the tank of the hydraulic unit.
Check the hydraulic connections
Check that the switch “LOWER” for the hydraulic control is in the "OFF" position
Check if there is compressed air at the pressure reducing valve.
Check if the compressed air ball valve is open
The cylinder does not move down
Check the power supply
Make sure that the stroke of the cylinder is not blocked
Make sure that the switch “LOWER” for the hydraulic control is switched on
Make sure that the hydraulic control valve is not closed

15. Recommendations
As a general rule, do not run the system without an operator nearby.
The operator must use the necessary protective equipment (e.g. face mask or goggles, apron and
gloves)whenhandlinghazardouschemicals.Thestatutoryorothersafetyandaccidentprevention
regulations must be observed.
Allworkonthehydraulicandelectricalcircuitsmayonlybecarriedoutbyauthorisedandqualied
personnel.
Use only original LUTZ parts for all repairs.
The system may only be moved in the retracted, lower position. Unless the system is above a container
andisinanycasexedinapalletwiththetwofootstabilisers.
Do not store anything under the follower plate.
