Program Conversion Overview
WhenloadingaprogramfromthePC3KorPC3,theprogramwillsoundthesameontheSP4
asidefromthefollowinglimitations.TheSP4has64voicepolyphonyandcannotplayasmany
notesatthesametimecomparedthetothe128voicepolyphonyofthePC3KandPC3.TheSP4
cannotloadsomeeffectsfromthePC3KorPC3iftheyusemorethan10DSPunits.TheSP4does
notloadsamples.IfyouloadaPC3Kprogramthatcontainsusersamples,keyrangesthat
containusersampleswillnotplayproperly.
WhenloadingaprogramfromthePC3LE,theprogramwillsoundthesameontheSP4.When

thefirstfourzonescanbeloaded.TheSP4has64voicepolyphonyandcannotplayasmany
notesatthesametimecomparedthetothe128voicepolyphonyofthePC3KandPC3.Also,

modeUserbank(seetheSP4Musician’sGuidefordetails).NewintheV2OSistheabilityto
deletesingleUserbankprogramsandsetupsbyusingtheSavebutton.
TodeleteaUserbankprogramorsetup,firstselecttheprogramorsetupthatyouwishtodelete
intheUserbankofProgrammodeorSetupmode.Next,presstheSavebutton,thenpressthe
Chan/Paramupbuttontwice.Thedisplaywillread“Deletexxx?”(xxxwillbetheIDnumberof
theprogramorsetupbeingdeleted).Tofinish,presstheNextbuttonbelowthedisplayandthe
programorsetupwillbedeleted.ThedisplaywillshowtheIDnumberoftheprogramorsetup
thatwasdeletedfollowedby“Empty”.
DeletingUserbankprogramsandsetupsisusefulincombinationwiththenew“Load(fill)”
dialogue(seeThe“Load(fill)”Dialogue on page 4fordetails.)Forexample,youcoulddelete
certainUserbankprogramsandsetupsthatyounolongerusebyusingtheSavebutton,then
usethe“Load(fill)”dialoguetoloadpreviouslysavedUserbankprogramsandsetupsintothe
EmptyUserbankIDs.

Using The Group Select Buttons
InProgrammodeandSetupmode,youcanbrowsethroughgroupsofeightprogramsoreight
setupsbyfirstselectingaBankwiththeBankselectbutton,thenselectingoneoftheGroup
Selectbuttons(thesebuttonsarelocatedtotherightofthedisplay).Afterselectingagroupwith
oneoftheGroupSelectbuttons,oneoftheeightprogramsorsetupsinthegroupcanbe
selectedbypressingoneoftheeightSoundSelectbuttons(locatedtotherightofthedisplay,
belowtheGroupSelectbuttons).InProgrammode,theeightprogramsineachgroupmatchthe
instrumenttypeofthegroupname(Piano,String,Synth,etc.)InSetupmode,theeightsetupsin
eachgroupdonotalwaysmatchtheinstrumenttypeofthegroupname,buttheGroupSelect
buttonscanstillbeusedtobrowsethroughgroupsofeightsetups.

Setting Group Favorites
InProgrammodeandSetupmode,youcansetoneoftheeightprogramsorsetupsineach

example,inProgrammodeyoucouldsettheprogram“10ClassicWurlyasafavoriteprogram
thatwillautomaticallybeselectedwhenyoupresstheE.PianoGroupSelectbuttoninBank1.
Tosetafavoriteprogramorsetupforthecurrentlyselectedgroup,firstpressoneoftheeight
SoundSelectbuttons(totherightofthedisplay)tochoosethefavoriteprogramorsetupfor
thatgroup.NextpresstheGlobalmodeFunctionbuttontoenterGlobalmode,thenpressthe
ProgrammodeFunctionbuttonorSetupmodeFunctionbuttontoreturntoProgrammodeor
Setupmode.FavoriteprogramsandsetupsareautomaticallystoredwhenexitingGlobalmode.
AfterexitingGlobalmode,favoriteprogramsandsetupswillberememberedbytheSP4evenif
itispoweredoff.

simultaneouslywillsetthisparameterto20.
NewintheV2OS,youcannowsettheAuxSendLevelparameterto1.Asettingof1setsthe

mustexitGlobalmodebypressingoneoftheProgram,Setup,orEditSetupFunctionbuttons.

The“Load(overwrite)”dialogueisnewintheV2OS,andreplacesthe“LoadAll?”dialogue
fromtheV1OS.The“Load(overwrite)”dialoguehasthesamefunctionasthe“LoadAll?”
dialoguefromtheV1OS.
Usethe“Load(overwrite)”dialoguetoloadpreviouslysavedSP4Userbankprogramsand
setupsfroman.SPXfile.The“Load(overwrite)”dialoguedeletesallUserbankprogramsand
setupsintheSP4andreplacesthemwiththeUserbankprogramsandsetupsfromthe.SPXfile
youareloading.FilescanbeloadedtotheSP4fromacomputerviaUSB.

createdonthePC3K,PC3,orPC3LEcanbeloadedbytheSP4,followthesesteps:

The LCD Display Appears Blank
IftheSP4’sLCDdisplayappearsblankorhardtoreadwhentheunitispoweredon,theLCD
contrastmayneedtobeadjusted.ThereisasmallcontrastknobfortheLCDdisplayonthefront
paneloftheSP4,abovetheChan/Parambuttons.Thecontrastknobisnotlabeled.Slowlyturn
thecontrastknobuntiltheLCDbecomesreadable.ThecontrastknobissensitiveandtheLCD
mayonlybereadablewiththecontrastknobsetwithinacertainrange.
