Introduction
Introduction
This document defines procedures for bolting the CWD (Model P1) to a floor or outdoor surface.
The CWD must secured with bolts to the floor or surface for installations where the TX or RX towers are
at risk for tipping or falling due to visitor traffic and/or weather.
This procedure is intended to serve as a general guideline. Variants may be required due to different
types of floors or surfaces, slopes, whether mats are used, etc.
Kit Contents
Ensure the items below were included in your kit that was included with the CWD system.

We recommend pouring a new concrete pad before installing the bolt down anchors. The figures below,
show the recommended minimum size of the concrete pad for each configuration of the system. The
concrete used should have a minimum compressive strength of 4000 psi. The top surface of the concrete
slab should be as flush with the surrounding surface as possible.

The drilling and installation of anchors in this section are not to be performed by MSI staff. MSI staff
should provide supervision and guidance while authorized customer representatives perform the
installation. We recommend hiring contractors to ensure that the holes are properly and safely drilled.
Marking the hole locations
1. Mark the hole locations, using the figures below, that correspond to your system configuration.

Drilling on each hole mark
1. Using the HILTI drill bit, drill to a depth of 1-9/16”, or until the base of the drill bit hits the ground.
NOTICE:Wear eye protection to prevent getting cement dust in your eyes. Wear a dust mask to
prevent breathing in cement dust.
2. Clean out the hole of any debris using compressed air or vacuum.
3. Insert the anchor into the drilled hole and push it in until it is at the bottom of the hole.

4. Take off the drill bit from the HILTI tool to expose the anchor installation tool.
5. Ensure that the hammer mode on the drill is on.
6. Place the end of the installation tool into the anchor and activate the drill. The hammering of the
drill presses down the anchor, setting it in the concrete.
7. Keep going until the base of the tool is flush with the anchor and cannot go down any further.

8. Repeat Step 2 through Step 7 for the five (5) remaining anchors.
Bolting the CWD into place
1. Move the CWD to the desired location and confirm that the anchors line up with the holes in the
base plates.
2. Every foot on each tower must be in its correct position. The bottom of the base plate on each
tower should be roughly 1.5” above the ground, depending on the type of floor or surface and how
level it is.
3. Bolt the TX tower down using two (2) of the 3/8” Hex head bolts and two (2) 3/8” fender washers
and two (2) 3/8” lock washers.

4. Bolt both RX towers down using two (2) of the 3/8” Hex head bolts and two (2) standard 3/8”
washers and two 3/8” lock washers per RX tower.

5. While tightening the bolts, confirm the tower maintains its position by checking the feet relative to
the marks and confirming it is still level.
6. Adjust the height and location of the feet, as necessary.

Maintenance
Maintenance
We recommend that all components of the CWD system are periodically checked for damage and wear.
This is especially important after a high stress event, such as a hit to the system.
lCheck the metal parts for warpage, bending, and rust.
lCheck the rubber membrane for high amounts of abrasion or stretching.
lReplace the membrane if it appears damaged.
lPeriodically check the inside of the puck for debris build up and remove.
If any part of the CWD system appears damaged enough to affect the strength or function of the tie down
system, reach out to an MSI representative for replacement parts.
