Juno JDA5230W is a cooker hood that purifies the air in your kitchen and has various settings to help you achieve the desired effect. It has a metal grease filter that traps grease particles to keep your kitchen clean, and a carbon filter that removes odors. The hood can be used in two modes: exhaust mode, where fumes are conveyed outside through a special pipe, and recirculation mode, where the air is purified through an active carbon filter and returned to the room. The hood has a 3-speed switch to adjust the power, and a light switch to illuminate the work surface.

Use

The hood may be used as follows:

Exhaust mode

In this case the fumes are conveyed outside

by means of a special pipe connected with

the coupling flange A, placed in the outlet

hole (Fig. 1).

Choosing the exhausting pipe

The coupling flange A has a diameter of

120mm.

We suggest to use Ø 120 mm exhausting

pipe.

Recirculation mode

— The air is purified through an active

carbon filter and returned to the room.

— The use of an active carbon filter is

necessary when an exhaust pipe to the

exterior is not available, or when it is not

possible to install this type of pipe.

In the case of the internal recycle version

proceed as follows:

a. Request an active carbon filter suitable

for this model from your supplier.

b. Pull-out the extractable drawer.

c. Remove the inlet grid turning the locks B

and pull it out downwards (Fig. 2).

d. Mounting the active carbon filter

— Fit the carbon filter as a cover of the

plastic grid that covers the fan housing,

than turn it in the clockwise direction until

the filter is locked in place.

e. Refit the inlet grid.

f. The filtered air is discharged above the

cupboard through a pipe of Ø 120mm

which goes through the cupboard.

Installation

When installed, the hood must be not less

than 65 cm. above electric burners or 75

cm. above gas or mixed-fuel burners.

Warning!

— The hood cannot be connected to flues of

other appliances that run on energy

sources other than electricity.

— When the hood is used at the same time of

other appliances that run on energy sources

other than electricity, provision must be made

for an adequate supply of air.

—No food must be cooked flambé

underneath the hood.

The use of an unprotected flame is

dangerous for the filters and could cause

fires.

Therefore, never use an open flame under

the hood. When frying foods, never leave

the pan alone because the cooking oil

could flare up.

— Please, keep to the provisions of official

directives regarding the question of fume

discharge.

— The manufacturers refuse to accept any

responsibility for damage to the hood or

its catching on fire because of failure to

observe the above instructions.

Suggestions for the installation and

use of the hood

— The horizontal sections of the pipe must

be slanted slightly downwards (about

10%) to ensure the condensed vapour

not to come back on the motor of the

hood.

— The best performance of the unit is

obtained in the exhaust mode, therefore

in the limits of the possibilities it is advised

to use the exhaust mode.

— The best performances are obtained with

short pipes (max. 4 m) and with few

curves.

Electric connection

Before completing any connection, make

sure the house voltage corresponds with

the voltage indicated on the label affixed

inside the hood.

The hood is supplied with a standard plug;

connect it to a correspondingly standard

socket.

In the case is intended to connect the

appliance permanently to the mains after

having removed the plug supplied, must be

fitted a two-pole switch conforming to

regulations with an opening distance

between contacts of not less than 3mm.

The manufacturers are not liable for any

problems caused by the user’s failure to

observe the above instructions.

Fastening the hood

In order to fasten the unit do as follows:

a. Drill the holes on the bottom of the

cupboard using the drilling diagram

supplied with the unit.

b. Make a hole Ø 125÷130 mm. on the

bottom and the top of the cupboard for

the passage of the exhaust pipe.

c. From inside the hood insert the 4 screws

C 4,2x35 (Fig. 4) supplied with the unit.

d. Screw them onto the nuts D (Fig. 4).

e. Adjust the angle frame E (Fig. 4) tightly

to the wall.

The hood can also be mounted by means

of two brackets supplied with the hood.

To fix the hood in this way (Fig. 5-6), proceed

as follows:

a. Drill two holes Ø 2 mm on the two sides

of the cupboard from the inside using the

template N. 58A supplied.

b. Fix the two brackets G to the upper side

of the hood using screws H 4,2 x 35 (the

position of the brackets can be adjusted

in width according to the thickness of the

cupboard panels).

c. Fix the hood, through the brackets already

mounted, on the inside of the cupboard

using screws L 3,5 x 13 (two each side).

Replacing the plastic front

The hood is supplied with a brown plastic

front which can replace the white one already

mounted.

To mount the brown plastic front proceed as

follows:

— Completely open the extractable drawer.

— Remove the grid.

— Remove the three screws F which fix the

plastic front from the inside of the drawer.

— Fit the brown plastic front to the drawer

with the same three screws F.

— Refit the grid.

Using the hood

The hood is provided with one motor.

The power is adjusted by means of a 3-

speed switch.

To see the switching plate pull-out the

extractable drawer.

The switching plate is fitted with two

switches, one for adjustment of the motor

and one for illuminating the work surface.

To get best efficiency, we suggest to use

slow speeds in normal conditions and the

highest in particular cases of strong smell

and vapour concentration.

It is recommended to let the unit operate a

little before (5 min.) starting cooking of any

food and to let it run for about 15 minutes

after cooking.

In order to increase the suction surface

extract the extractable drawer completely.

Maintenance

Before performing any maintenance

operation, disconnect the hood from the

electricity.

Metal grease filter

The hood has a metal grease filter.

Its function is to withhold the grease particles

in suspension.

To clean the filter, proceed as follows:

a. Disconnect the hood from the electricity.

b. Pull-out the extractable drawer.

c. Open the grid by turning locks B (Fig. 2).

d. Extract the filter after removing the

clamps M (Fig. 7).

The metal grease filter lasts forever and

must be washed at least once a month

either by hand or in the dishwasher (60°C)

with suitable detergents.

Attention! When washed in a dishwasher,

the metal grease filter may discolour.

Let the filter dry without damaging it before

putting it back into place.

Every time you clean the metal grease filter

also clean the grid with suitable detergents

without abrasive.

Carbon filter

This hood can be equipped with a circular

charcoal filter.

The charcoal filter cannot be regenerated or

washed.

The charcoal filter must be replaced

every 4 months.

To dismount the charcoal filter:

a. Disconnect the hood from the electricity.

b. Pull-out the extractable drawer.

c. Open the grid.

d. Turn the filter in the anticlockwise

(Fig. 3).

Attention

Failure to observe the rules for cleaning the

appliance and changing and cleaning the

filters may cause fires. Therefore, we

recommend observing these instructions.

Replacing the lamp

a. Disconnect the hood from the electricity.

b. Pull-out the extractable drawer.

c. Remove the inlet grid.

d. Always replace burnout bulbs with olive-

shaped max 40 Watt (E14) bulbs.

e. Refit the inlet grid.

— Before calling for Repair service because

the hood fails to light up, make sure the

bulbs are screwed in tightly.

Cleaning

To clean the outside of the hood use a cloth

moistened with denatured alcohol or neutral

liquid detergents.

Never use products containing abrasive.
