Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed, including the
following:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Never immerse the appliance in water
3. Never switch on the appliance if there is no water in the tank
4. Always use the appliance on a dry, level and heat-resistant surface away from any edges
5. Ensure hands are dry before using the appliance
6. The outside of appliance gets very hot during use. Do not touch the surface
7. Do not remove the top cover while boiling.
8. If the appliance is overfilled, boiling water will spill out of the unit
9. The appliance produces boiling water ensure the unit is out of reach of children.
Electrical safely
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
GREEN/YELLOW: EARTH (E)
BLUE: NEUTRAL (N)
BROWN: LIVE (L)
As the colors of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured GREEN & YELLOW must be connected to the terminal in the plug
which is marked with the letter “E” by the earth symbol or coloured GREEN,
GREEN/YELLOW.
The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to terminal which is marked with the letter
N” or coloured BLACK.
The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter “L” or coloured RED
Always ensure that the Mains Cord is located into the Plug through the Cord Guard or Cable
Clamp, (plug wiring diagram above), and that the Cord Guard screws are tightened to clamp the
Cord (outer sheath and inner coloured wires) into position in the Plug. Make sure that plug top is
also fitted securely.
This appliance must be protected by a 13 Amp fuse in a 13 Amp type (BS1363) plug. Should you
need to replace the fuse, use only a 13Amp ASTA approved BS1363 fuse (13A).
OPERATION GUIDELINES
It is important to ensure the correct Plug Adaptor is used when operating in a country not using the
UK 13 Amp socket system. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
Before using this Boiler
The appliance must be earthed installation:
1. Please read this instruction manual completely.
2. Before using the appliance, first clean the tank, top cover and body etc.
3. Place the unit upright on a firm and flat surface
4. Plug the appliance into an earthed socket while the unit is switched off.
How To Use This Boiler
Fill the tank with cold water. There is a maximum level marked on the inside of the tank
do not fill above this mark.
Make sure the environmental temperature indoors is about 10-38 degrees and
environmental humidity is less than 90%
Replace the cover and switch the unit on.
The heating lamp indicator should now light up the unit will begin to boil the water.
After about 35 minutes the water temperature will have reached 97 degrees and the
auto-thermostat switches the large heating element off and the small heating element on
which automatically keeps the water at the correct temperature.
When about three cups of water are remaining in the tank, turn the unit off and unplug it
from the electric outlet.
Thermal cut-out
The appliance is fitted with a thermal cut-out. If this is activated, the unit will turn itself off.
Although the lamp will remain on, the unit must be unplugged before it can be reset. To reset the
appliance, wait until the appliance has cooled down. The reset button is located on the underside of
the appliance.
The safety device may have been switched off during transport, if so reset the thermal cut-off
following the above instructions.
If resetting this thermal cut-out does not switch the unit back on, place contact the manufacturer.
Cleaning
This unit must be cleaned thoroughly after each use. This is in addition to weekly cleaning using
vinegar to remove mineral deposits. If these deposits are not removed, pitting of the metal can occur
and may result in damage to the appliance.
Cleaning after use:
Cleaning the tank, top cover and the body, etc. and dry them with a soft dry cloth. All these
parts are made of stainless steel and can be cleaned with a scouring agent.
If the appliance is to function properly, the cavity in the middle of the base must be free of
lime scale. Use a scale remover if necessary.
This heater includes an overheat protection system that turns off the heater when parts of the
unit are getting excessively hot.
To clean the tap, move a brush up and down through the tap then insert the brush through
opening inside the appliance to clean the tap connection. Wash the tap handle in hot soapy
water and rinse. Replace the tap.
Do not use baking soda to clean the appliance as it can discolor and pit the metal.
