the pouring lip). After pouring out the
required quantity, close the lid by turn-
ing it clockwise as far as it will go in
order to keep the remaining coffee
warm.
When all of the water has flown
through and you want to add more
water in order to make more coffee,
please switch the appliance off and
leave it to cool for approx. 5 minutes.
Frothing or Heating Milk
You can use the frothed milk spout
(Figure 2/A, B, C, D) to make cappuc-
cino, café au lait and cocoa or simply
to heat up milk (for example as a drink
with honey when suffering from a
cold) or water.
Attach the milk frothing nozzle as fol-
lows (Figure 10):
0 Insert the knob for regulating the froth
(Figure 2/A) into the suction piece (Fig-
ure 2/B) and press firmly.
0 Insert the suction piece (Figure 2/D)
into the connector, and connect the
milk discharge outlet (Figure 2/C) to
the connector.
0 Firmly push the complete frothed
milk spout onto the steam nozzle
(Figure 1/J) until the red seal on the
steam nozzle is no longer visible.
0 Leave the appliance switched on after
the coffee has been prepared.
0 Wait until the temperature indicator
(Figure 8/3) is illuminated to show that
the steam temperature has been
reached.
3
Warning: the temperature indicator
(Figure 8/3) goes off occasionally as
part of the way the machine functions.
The necessary steam temperature is
reached quickly when the steam selec-
tor is turned to the right.
0 Fill a container with, for example, cold
milk.
3
You can suck up the milk directly from
the carton using the flexible hose
(Figure 2/E).
Important: the milk carton must not
exceed the height of the frothing noz-
zle. The flexible hose must be inserted
down into the milk carton.
0 To do this attach the hose to the
frothing nozzle and insert the other
end of the hose into the milk carton
(Figure 11).
0 Place an empty cup underneath the
frothing nozzle (Figure 11).
0 Turn the steam selector (Figure 8/4) to
the right. The milk will then be sucked
out of the container. Inside the frothed
milk spout it is mixed with steam,
heated and simultaneously frothed up.
The frothed milk flows through the
milk discharge outlet into the waiting
cup.
Important: using the knob for regulat-
ing the froth (Figure 2/A) you can set
the amount of froth (more or less
added air) and the temperature of the
milk to your taste (Figure 12/A, B, C). To
do this turn the knob slowly to the
right or to the left until you achieve
the desired result.

warm milk
Figure 12/B: no froth
Figure 12/C: less froth/
hot milk
0 After making the frothed milk, return
the steam selector to the 0 position.
0 So long as there is water in the water
tank you can continue to make as
much frothed milk and as often as you
wish. If necessary, simply add some
more water.
Warning: when frothing milk, fill the
water tank only to the marking , as
otherwise the water will flow through
into the coffee brewing cycle.
Warning: if the appliance is used
without a container and the milk
heated directly in a cup, the suction
piece (Figure 2/B) must always be fitted
and the knob for regulating the froth
(Figure 2/A) must always be closed, i.e.,
at right angles to the direction of flow
(Figure 13). Otherwise hot water could
