Statement
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B

Important safety information
Read and follow all instructions marked on the product and in the documentation before

• The product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the
rating label.
If your computer has a voltage selector switch, make sure that the switch is in the
proper position for your area. The voltage selector switch is set at the factory to the
correct voltage.
The plug-socket combination must be accessible at all times because it serves as
the main disconnecting device.
Use only the power cord and batteries indicated in this manual. Do not dispose
of batteries in a fire. They may explode. Check with codes for possible special
disposal instructions.
• Do not use this product near water or a heat source.
Set up the product on a stable work surface or so as to ensure stability of the
system.
Openings in the case are provided for ventilation. Do not block or cover these
openings. Make sure you provide adequate space around the system for ventilation
when you set up your work area. Never insert objects of any kind into the ventilation
openings.
To avoid electrical shock, always unplug all power cables and modem cables from
the wall outlets before removing covers.
Allow the product to cool before removing covers or touching internal components.
Battery safety information
Do not disassemble, incinerate, or short-circuit the rechargeable battery
pack (in the battery pack bay). Do not put it in trash that is disposed of in
landfills. Dispose of it as required by local ordinances or regulations.
CAUTION:
The lithium battery on the system board of the computer contains lithium and
can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of. Do not: (1) throw or
immerse into water, (2) heat to more than 100 deg C (212 deg F), or (3) repair or

disassemble. Dispose of it as required by local ordinances or regulations.
Do not disassemble, incinerate, or short-circuit the nickel metal hydride rechargeable
battery on the system board of the computer. The battery can cause burns or release
toxic chemicals. Do not put it in trash that is disposed of in landfills. Dispose of it as
required by local ordinances and regulations.
WARNING: Possible voiding of Warranty
* If the battery is not properly handled, there may be a risk of explosion; make sure
you are using the same or equivalent battery.
* Please dispose the used battery according to the instructions given by the
manufacturer.
Precautions for Products With Laser Devices
Observe the following precautions for laser devices:
Do not open the CD-ROM drive, make adjustments, or perform procedures on a laser
device other than those specified in the product’s documentation.
• Only authorized service technicians should repair laser devices.

Upload Case
►Step 1:
Remove the screw from the bottom of the case.
►Step 2:
Crasp the handle on the panel and pull out the case.

Installing Hard Disk
►Step 1:
Place HDD on the rack. Tighten HDD with screws.
►Step 2:
Connect HDD Power connector and cable to the HDD. Reinstall the HDD rack back
to the casing and tighten the screws.

Installing Optical Disk Drive
►Step 1:
Slide the optical disk drive in. Tighten the screws on the side to secure optical disk
drive.
►Step 2:
Tighten USB to IDE Card to the optial disk drive. Place the rack back and tighten the
rack to the chassis.

►Step 1:
Place CPU in the socket and tighten screw to secure CPU. Pull up the retaining lever
on the side.
►Step 2:
Place cooler on the top of CPU and push down the retaining lever. Connect the
power.

►Step 1:
Align the connector edge of the memory module with the connector slot. Insert the
memory module at a 45 degree angle and press it down until it locks underneath the
retaining clip.

Appendix A Cleaning and Maintance
Taking Care of Your A963
The openings on the enclosure are for air convection hence your notebook computer
can be protected from overheating. DO NOT COVER THE OPENINGS.
Do not expose A963 to direct sunlight. Do not place it near sources of heat, such as a
radiator.
• Do not expose A963 to temperatures below 5ºC (41ºF) or above 40ºC (104ºF).
• Do not expose A963 to rain or moisture. Do not spill water or any liquid on A963.
• Do not subject A963 to heavy shock and vibration.
• Do not expose A963 to dust and dirt.
• Never place objects on top of A963 to avoid damaging A963.
• Never place A963 on uneven surfaces.
• Use only a power adapter approved for use with your A963.
If A963 is not in use for a long time, disconnect it from mains to avoid possible damage
by transient overvoltage.
Never open the body of A963. For safety reason, A963 should only be opened by
qualified service personnel.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Refer to the following to clean the A963 case.
1. Wipe off dust with a clean dampened cloth.
2. Moisten the cloth with warm water and wring the cloth out well, then wipe the case.
3. Rinse the cloth and wipe again.
Warning:
1. Be sure to turn off and unplug the A963 at least an hour before clean-ing.
2. Use only a dampened cloth when cleaning.
3. If a little water gets into the A963 interior while cleaning, leave un-plugged in a well-
ventilated room for several hours before using.
4. To prevent discoloration or fading of the case, do not use abrasive alcohol-based
cleaners
