Prepare your SNYPER as follows:

»Ensure the latest SNYPER software is installed on the device.
»This process will work on software version 06.10.xx onwards.
***IMPORTANT***
»Double check the rmware is correct for your V1 device before attempting to update the rmware.
***IMPORTANT***
»The silver label on the back of the SNYPER will clearly identify the model.
»Always use a high quality, short USB cable to connect the device to a PC (Use the Siretta approved USB cable)
»You must connect the USB cable directly from the device to the PC and not go through a USB hub.
***IMPORTANT***
»Some antivirus applications have been known to interfere with the software update procedure.
Please disable if you have difculties.
»We have tested our rmware update procedure using Bitdefender and this works as expected.
Please follow the preparation steps below to ensure you are using the correct rmware for
your device and avoid the common mistakes made when updating device rmware.
The procedure steps in this document ensure that you can reliably update your SNYPER
without running into difculties and should prevent rmware update failures.
V1 Hardware Firmware Update
Preparation to begin Firmware Update:
1) Navigate to https://www.siretta.com/software-library/
2) Select ‘SNYPER Firmware Update’ tab
3) Download and install ‘USB Device Drivers’ from the Siretta Software Library to your PC
4) Download and install ‘XFP Programming Tool’ from the Siretta Software Library to your PC

Select ‘SNYPER Firmware Update’
Install ‘XFP Progamming Tool’

NOTE: Devices which do not have V2 marking in the model name are V1 hardware.
Preparing for Firmware Update
Install ‘USB Device Drivers’
Download Firmware
Download the latest rmware for the SNYPER from the Siretta Website:
1) Download the correct rmware for your device
(Refer to the silver label on the back of your SNYPER to identify the correct model)

Preparing the XFP Tool
Preparing the XFP tool to update SNYPER rmware:
1) Unzip the rmware and store the uncompressed le locally on your PC
2) Run XFP and ensure that the ‘Port’ is set to ‘USB’ and ‘Speed’ is set to ‘460800’
3) Within XFP click ‘Browse’ to navigate to the rmware binary on your PC
4) Connect the SNYPER directly to your PC using the approved USB cable
5) Power off the SNYPER

At this point it is now possible to update the SNYPER rmware:
1) Click ‘Program’ on the XFP tool
2) Press and hold the ‘Back’ button and press the ‘Power’ button momentarily to power on
the SNYPER
3) The SNYPER will enter the special rmware programming mode
4) The SNYPER screen will show ‘Starting Modem’ whilst the modem is being initialised
5) Once the module is connected and powered up the SNYPER screen will show ‘Modem On’
Press and hold back button

Next Step...
Firmware Update in Progress
The rmware update procedure will now begin:
1) The XFP application will display ‘Linking’ and then ‘Programming’ in the bottom left corner
2) The progress bar will indicate the update process and how much is remaining
3) Once the rmware update has completed you will be presented with a complete popup box
4) Press and hold the power button to power off the SNYPER and exit programming mode
5) Power on the SNYPER for the unit to re initialise
6) You can now perform surveys as normal

V2 Hardware Firmware Update
Preparation to begin Firmware Update:
1) Navigate to https://www.siretta.com/software-library/
2) Select ‘SNYPER Firmware Update (V2)’ tab
3) Download and install ‘USB Device Drivers’ from the Siretta Software Library to your PC

Preparing for Firmware Update
Install ‘USB Device Drivers’
Download Firmware
Download the latest rmware for the SNYPER from the Siretta Website:
1) Download the correct rmware for your device
(Refer to the silver label on the back of your SNYPER to identify the correct model)
2) Copy the rmware le you have download into a folder on your PC

Preparing SNYPER for Firmware Update

Follow the steps below to prepare your SNYPER for a rmware update:
1) Connect the SNYPER directly to your PC using the approved USB cable
2) Power off the SNYPER
3) Press and hold the ‘Back’ button and press the ‘Power’ button momentarily to power on the SNYPER
4) The SNYPER screen will show ‘Starting Modem‘ whilst the modem is being initialised
5) Once the module is connected and powered up the SNYPER screen will show ‘Modem On’
6) Check that ‘Telit Serial Diagnostics Interface’ appears in device manager as shown below in gure 10

Run Firmware Update
At this point it is now possible to begin the rmware update:
1) Run the le you have downloaded to start the rmware update
2) It should take around 5 minutes to complete the rmware update
3) Once complete, the programming window will show ‘Completed Successfully’
4) Close the programming window once complete
5) Press and hold the power button to power off the SNYPER and exit programming mode
6) Power on the SNYPER for the unit to re initialise
7) You can now perform surveys as normal
