Installing the Battery
Charging the Battery
When the battery icon changes to or the charging
animation becomes static, the battery is fully charged.
If the battery charge is fully depleted, it may take several minutes
for the phone to display the charging icon after the charger is
plugged in.

2 Call Functions
Making a Call
1.
In standby mode, press the number keys to enter a phone
number.
To make an international call, press twice to
enter the plus sign (+). Then enter the country or region
code, area code, and phone number.
To call an extension number, enter the switchboard
number, press
three times to enter P or press
four times to enter T, and enter the extension
number.

to dial the number.

Press
to end the call or cancel the dialing.
When you receive a text message during an active voice call, there
will be an alert tone. You can select Messaging to read or reply the
message, and then go back to the call.

Answering a Call
When you receive an incoming call, press to answer it
or
to reject it.
If the Any Key answer function is enabled, you can press any
key except
, , , and to
answer a call. To set this function, select Menu > Settings >
Call > Answer Mode > Any Key.
If the Headset Auto-Answer function is enabled and a
headset is connected to the phone, the phone will
automatically answer incoming calls for a pre-defined period.
To set this function, select Menu > Settings > Call >
Headset Auto-Answer.
Speed Dialing
If the speed dialing numbers are assigned to the number keys,
you can press and hold a number key for about 3 seconds in
standby mode to speed dial the phone number. Up to 8
speed dialing numbers can be assigned.
For more details, see the section "Contacts" to learn how to
assign speed dialing numbers to the contact numbers.
Call Waiting
The call waiting function is a network-dependent service. For details,
contact your service provider.

When receiving another call during an active conversation,

Making a Conference Call
You can set up a conference call with two parties.

Party #2 you want to join the conference or select the
number from Contacts.

3 Text Input
Changing the Text Input Mode
The current text input mode indicator is displayed in the
upper right corner of the text input screen. To switch
between the text input modes, repeatedly press

You can select Menu > Settings > Phone > Text Input
Settings to change the input language and enable or disable
the predictive input mode.
Entering English and Spanish
In multi-tap text input mode, press the key labeled with the
desired letter to enter the letter on the key.

In predictive input mode:

Press each key according to the spelling sequence of the
desired word. The phone displays candidate words that
may be spelt by the keystroke sequence.

Entering a Number
To enter a number:
In "123" input mode, press the key labeled with the
desired number.
In any input mode other than "123" input mode, press

Message Settings

conversation. You can select Menu > Messaging >
Settings > View Mode > Chat View to set the Chat
View mode.
In Inbox View mode, the messages you received are
saved in Inbox, and the messages you sent are saved in
Sent. You can select Menu > Messaging > Settings >
View Mode > Inbox View to set the Inbox View mode.
Your network provider allows emergency alerts to be sent
via text message to your phone as issued by the
Commerical Mobile Alerts System (CMAS) adopted by the
FCC. You can customize the types of alerts you wish to

receive under the Menu > Messaging > Settings >
CMAS alerts. However, Presidential alerts cannot be
disabled.
There are five types of CMAS alerts.
Presidential alerts: Warnings issued strictly by US President
related to war, plane hijack, and new bills reenact, etc.
Extreme alerts: Disasters related to nature and crimes such as
earthquakes, tsunamis, murders and robberies declared at
federal level.
Severe alerts: Minor disasters similar to extreme alert declared
at state level.
AMBER alerts: Kidnapping alert issued by city.
Test alerts: Used for phone testing and emergency testing
purposes.
6 @metro App Store
With @metro App Store, you can download full featured
applications over the air including games, personalized ring
tones, pictures, and more. You can send and receive instant
messages and email, or browse the web to catch up on all
the latest news.
This section outlines how to obtain games and other
applications for your phone. For more information about this
function and airtime charges, consult your service provider.
Accessing @metro App Store
To access the @metro App Store, select Menu > @metro >
@metro App Store.
Your phone takes a moment to connect, then the Catalog

menu appears in the display. You can follow the instructions
in the display of your phone.
Please check with your Service Provider for availability of applications.
Changing Your @metro App Store Settings
You can select Menu > @metro > Settings to manage,
move, order applications, and much more.
Order Apps: Rearrange downloaded applications.
Move Apps: Move previously downloaded applications
between available folders.
Manage Apps: View used and available memory.
Main Menu View: Select whether you wish to view the
@metro App Store menu in a list or icon format.
View Log: View the @metro App Store log, which
displays information about recent activity using @metro
App Store.
Using On-line Help
You can select Menu > @metro > Help to view information
about charges, cancelling subscriptions, buying apps,
disabling apps, and more.
7 MetroWEB
The MetroWEB application allows you to access Internet
websites and browse web pages.

Select Menu > MetroWEB to open the home page.

8 Media Applications
Camera

if you select Normal, the multi-shot mode is disabled.
Self-timer: to set the countdown for the phone to take

Seconds, 10 Seconds, or Off.
Frames: to select a fun frame for photos.
Effects: to set the effect.
Night Mode: to enable or disable the night mode.
White Balance: to set the white balance.
Settings: to set Resolution, Preview settings,
Shutter sound, and Reset.

9 Bluetooth
Your phone supports Bluetooth. You can transfer data
between your phone and other Bluetooth devices and talk by
using a Bluetooth headset.

Select Bluetooth > On to enable the Bluetooth function.

Select Search for Devices to search for available
Bluetooth devices.

Select the Bluetooth device you want to connect from the

A Bluetooth headset is not included in the product package and
must be purchased separately. Before using a Bluetooth headset,

10 Security
Keypad Lock
When the keypad is locked, you can still press to answer a
call or make an emergency call.
To lock the keypad, press and hold for about 3
seconds in standby mode.
To unlock the keypad, press

If the Auto Keypad Lock function is enabled, the phone's
keypad will automatically lock after being idle in standby
mode for a pre-defined period. To set this function, select
Menu > Settings > Phone > Auto Keypad Lock.
Phone Lock
The phone lock protects your phone from unauthorized use.
By default, the phone lock is disabled. To enable or disable
the phone lock, select Menu > Settings > Security > Phone
Lock.
Once you enable the phone lock, you must enter the
password. The default password to unlock your phone is the
last four numbers of the MDN (Mobile Directory Number),
and it can be changed to any numeric string of four to eight
digits in length.
You can select Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone Info >
Version Info to see the MDN, and select Menu > Settings >
Security > Change Phone Lock Code to change the

password.
11 TTY Operation
Using the TTY Device
The Teletypewriter (TTY) is a typewriting device. By
connecting the phone to the TTY device, you can use the TTY
functions to send/receive messages.
When you use the TTY function, do as follows:

Set the phone to the TTY mode and connect the TTY
device to the headset jack of the phone.
2.
Make or answer calls as normal.
3.
When the call is put through, use the TTY device to send
or receive the letters.
4.
Press
to end the call.
Setting the TTY Mode
Select Menu > Settings > Phone > TTY Settings to set the
TTY mode as follows:
TTY OFF: The standard voice speaking mode and the
listening mode.
TTY FULL: Transmit and receive the TTY characters.
TTY VCO: Receive TTY characters but transmit by
speaking into the microphone.
TTY HCO: Transmit TTY characters but receive by listening
to the earpiece.
12 Troubleshooting
If you encounter any problem when using your phone, try to
