This kit is designed to protect the external grounding
circuit from being damaged by welding current. The
kit causes the output of the welding power source to
be de-energized if current is detected in the external
grounding circuit. Should this condition occur, the red
"fault" light on the power source control panel will light.
This kit consists of 70" long leads with a U-shape sen-
sor on one end and PC board connector on the other
end. It also includes 8 tie-wraps and 4 snap-in bases
for tie-wraps.
To install kit, proceed as follows:
Before installing this kit, make sure all primary
input power to the power source is disconnected
and/or lock out procedures are in place.
1. Remove 2 screws from the upper corners of the
control panel on the power source and open the
control panel.
2. Remove the top cover and both side panels from
the power source.
3. Disconnect the external grounding conductor from
the ground lug on the right rear A-frame leg.
4. Insert the external grounding conductor through
the U-shape sensor with the leads from the sen-
sor heading towards the inside of the power
source. Then reconnect the ground lead to the
ground lug.

Power Sources
DO NOT disturb the nuts on the sensor. This
sensor was factory assembled and preset to
the proper value.
5. Push in a tie-wrap base into the second hole of
the A-frame below the ground lug. Then tie wrap
the sensor to the tie-wrap base, making sure the
leads are still heading towards the inside of the
power source as shown in Fig. 1.
6. The leads should then pass under the top cross-
member to the right front leg of the A-frame; over
to the left front A-frame leg above the capacitor
bank; through the grommet of the control panel
along with other wiring harnesses; and then plug
in the leads into J2 header of the control pc board
assembly as shown in Fig. 2.
7. Insert the tie-wrap bases into the appropriate holes
in the A-frame legs and then tie- wrap the leads to
these bases. Do not allow too much slack along
the way especially over the capacitor bank.
8. Tie-wrap the leads to other wiring from left front
A-frame leg and through the control panel section
where appropriate.
9. Close control panel and secure with the two
screws previously removed. Reinstall the side
panels and top cover.
The power source is now ready for normal opera-
tion. When the red fault light is lit, immediately
turn OFF all primary input power to the power
source and turn OFF the power source input power
switch (S1). Locate and correct the fault.
After the fault has been corrected, apply input
power to the power source and turn the power
source input power switch (S1) ON. The power
source should now be ready for normal operation.
