The Cobalt Digital 5001 is a Leitch
TM
Digital Frame compatible card that provides eight non-reclocked serial
digital video outputs.
The 5001 accepts SMPTE 259 A,B,C and D digital rates of 143-540 Mbits. Card edge LED indicators show data
lock and power presence.
The 5001 uses the latest in surface mount technology and SDI input equalizer components. The printed circuit
board is a four layered board utilizing internal power planes and micro strip design to control board impedance,
thus improving signal quality.
The functional Diagram is shown below (Fig. 1).

Selection of SDI Output Mute
The 5001 can be set to mute weak SDI input signals that are beyond the recovery range of the input equalizer.
We recommend turning output mute on as it removes output noise when a SDI signal is not present at the input.
To select this option to mute set S1-1 (Fig. 3) on or up. To turn output muting off, set S1-1 to off of down. If
mute mode is set off the Data presence indicator may turn on even though valid data is not present. This is due
to random pick up noise as the normal data mute mode is turned off.
