This manual presents the specifications, functions, and method of use of the C-PCI 3U PowerPC7447 CPU Board

A3pci7512.

1. Prior to use

1.1 Period and scope of warranty

Delivered products are under warranty for a period of one year after delivery.

During the period of warranty, the vendor will have his own to responsibility replace or repair malfunctioning

parts if the product malfunction is the responsibility of the vendor.

However, this warranty does not apply under the following circumstances:

(1) If the user handles or uses the product in an inappropriate way

(2) If the malfunction is caused by something other than the delivered product

(3) If the delivered product has been modified or repaired by anyone other than the vendor

(4) Due to natural disaster, accident, or other reason not the responsibility of the vendor

In this context, the term “warranty” means solely a warranty of the individual delivered product, and does not

include any compensation for the damage caused by malfunction of the delivered product.

1.2 Scope of service

The service costs such as the costs of sending technical personnel are not included in the price of the delivered

product. Customers will be charged for the following costs:

(1) Assistance with installation adjustments and test running

(2) Maintenance inspections, adjustments, and repairs

(3) Technical assistance and technical training

2. Outline

The A3pci7512 is a single-slot 3U processor board with a Freescale MPC7447A (PowerPC G4) processor. The board

is offered with either a 1 GHz CPU’s including 64KB L1 cache and 512kB L2 cache.

The main memory section is designed from the most updated DDR2 SDRAM SO-DIMM that supports CPU and I/O

power with a bandwidth of 3.2GB/s.Capacity of a memory module is a maximum 1G byte.(Module is optional)

The front panel I/O is equipped with a RS232C serial port and two Giga-bit Ethernet channels. The onboard socket

has one miniSD card .

6.1 A3pci7512 onboard components

FIG 6.1 shows A3pci7512 board outline view. With this figure, here it shall be explained how to set the A3pci7512

board before inserting it to a rack and also describe the detailed settings and confirmation points. Please follow the

instructions described in each section as below for settings.

6.1.1 CN2 (DDR2-SDRAM SO-DIMM socket)

CN2 is a SO-DIMM socket designed for installation of a DDR2-SDRAM memory module. An available

module is a PC2-3200 (400MHz)-capable DDR2-SDRAM SO-DIMM (200pin, unbuffered). The A3pci7512

does not support the ECC.

6.1.2 CN5 (miniSD card socket)

CN5 is a miniSD card socket that allows hot swapping. See Section 7.15 for details.

6.1.3 DSW1(DIP switch)

DSW1 is a DIP switch to set Start up mode.

Bit 8 has only been assigned as shown in Table 6.1, and bits 1 to 7 have been unassigned.

See Section 7.14 for details.

6.2 A3pci7512 Panel components

6.2.1 CPU Status LED

LED1 and LED2 are Status LED’s indicating operational status of the CPU.

Opearting definitions of the Status LED’s are listed in table 6.2.

If Status LED2 is lit (Green) and Status LED1 is blinking (Yellow) continuously, there may be a power supply

problem with the Compact PCI bus. In such case, please make sure the system rack power supply fully con-

forms to the requirements listed in Table 3.1.

6.2.2 General LED

This is an LED that can be used at any given time. See Section 7.6 for details.

6.2.3 Ethernet activity LED

This is an LED that comes on when sending and receiving of Ethernet 1 or 2 are done.

6.2.4 Ethernet link LED

This is an LED that comes on when the link of Ethernet 1 or 2 is established.

6.2.5 Reset Switch

This is the switch for overall resetting of the A3pci7512 board and the CompactPCI bus.

When the reset switch is pushed, both A3pci7512 and Compact PCI buses are reset.

6.2.6 RS232C Serial Port1,2

The RS232C Serial Port is controlled by the built-in UART0 and UART1 in the Tsi108 and GPIO.

Please refer to section 7.8 for connections between the control line and GPIO.

Turn power off before attaching or detaching cable to this connector.

Please refer to section 8.1. for the connector pin assignments

6.2.7 Ethernet 1 ,2

Ethernet-1 and Ethernet-2 ports are compatible with 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet.

This port is controlled by internal MAC and PHY built in Tsi108 .

See Section 7.9 for the Ethernet and Section 8.2 for connector pin assignment.

6.3 Address Map

6.3.1 Address map as seen from the CPU

Address map as seen from the CPU is shown in Table 6.3.

The CPU is capable of 36-bit addressing mode, and in such case the address space shall be 64GB.

Table 6.3 shows the example of the allocation to the address space of 4GB.

It has totally 1GB PCI memory space. It is possible to extent more of the PCI memory space if the setting such

as PC_OCN_BAR1/2 was changed.

7. Hardware Details

7.1 CPU

The model number of the CPU on this board is as below.

Freescale MC7447AVU1000NB (1GHz)

Operation mode of this CPU is fixed as the mode shown in table 7.1.

7.2 Host bridge

As a host bridge, Tsi108-200CLY (hereinafter as “Tsi108”) from Tundra is used.

Operational mode of Tsi108 is fixed to the mode shown in table 7.2.

7.3 Main memory

A memory module is optional.

Tsi108 memory controller should be set to specifications of an intended module.

7.4 Backup SRAM

The A3pci7512 is equipped with a register-integrated backup SRAM (STMicro: M48T37V-10MH1E) and bat-

tery (STMicro: M4T32-BR12SH), which allows the use of the RTC according to the settings of this register. The

battery assures 5-year retention of SRAM data and time data with the power off (at 25 °C).

Refer to respective data sheets for details on the SRAM and battery.

7.5 CPU status LED

The CPU status LED, attached to the SIO1 connector on the panel, is configured to be controlled with Tsi108

GPIO pin.

LED and GPIO pin connections is as shown in table 7.3.

Each GPIO pin is capable to set for either input or output pin and also it can be set to output Hi/Lo in case of

output. Please set in accordance with the table 7.3 in using the pin.

7.6 General LED

The LED attached to the SIO2 connector of the panel side is controlled with usable LED voluntarily by a GPIO

pin of Tsi108.

LED and GPIO pin connections is as shown in table 7.4.

Each GPIO pin is capable to set for either input or output pin and also it can be set to output Hi/Lo in case of

output. Please set in accordance with the table 7.4 in using the pin.
