1. Introduction
This document lists the configuration barcodes that are needed to program the Barcode Scanner
Honeywell IT3800g according to the Roche Diagnostics standard settings. Additionally, it also shows
how to switch off the check character for certain barcode types.
Roche Diagnostics strongly recommends using only barcode types having the checksum enabled!
For more information about the barcode scanner’s technical details please refer to the manufacturer’s
User’s Guide, which is delivered with your cobas c 111 instrument, or ask your local representative.
2. Program the Roche Diagnostics Factory Settings
Switch on the instrument and wait until it is in standby mode.
Scan the barcodes 1 to 8 in the table below. Always wait for the confirmation beep.

3. Disabling the Check Character Reading
A check character or “checksum” allows for adding safety to your reading of sample barcodes. When
not active, there is a chance of misreading which may lead to sample mismatches.
Roche Diagnostics strongly recommends using only barcode types with activated checksum!
If you want to disable the check character reading with a certain barcode type, scan the applicable
configuration barcode and wait for the confirmation beep. Disable the check character reading for
those barcode types only where necessary.
If you like to enable the check character reading again, refer to the configuration barcodes on page 2 of
this document (rows 6, 7, or 8 as applicable).
