2.1 General safety

z Electronic devices are not toys
Keep electrical appliances out of reach of children or infirm
persons. Do not let them use the appliances without
supervision.
z People whose physical, sensory or mental capacities prevent
them from using this appliance safely should not operate it
without the supervision of a responsible adult.
z This device may only be repaired by qualified personnel.
Inadequate repairs can cause considerable hazards.
If your device should need repairing, please contact WAECO
customer service.
z Set up the appliance in a dry location where it is protected
against splashing water.

z Ensure that the ventilation slots are not covered.
z Electronic devices are not toys!
Always keep and use the device well out of the reach of
children.
z The cooling device is not suitable for transporting substances
which are caustic or contain solvents.
z Food may only be stored in its original packaging or in suitable
containers.

z Only connect the device as follows:
using the cable (fig. 1 2, page 3) to an on-board 12 V supply
or with the cable (fig. 1 3, page 3) to a 220240 V AC mains
supply.
z Never pull the plug out of the socket by the cable.
z If the connection cable is damaged, you must have it replaced
by WAECO customer service to prevent possible electrical
hazards.
z Disconnect the connection cable:

z On boats: if the device is powered by the mains, ensure that the
power supply is protected with a ground fault interrupter circuit.
Danger of fatal injuries
z Disconnect the cooling device and other electric consumers
from the battery before connecting the quick charging device.
z Check that the voltage specification on the type plate is the
same as that of the power supply.
2.2 Operating the device safely
a
z Do not place any electrical devices inside the cooler.
z Protect the device and the cable against rain and moisture.
z Do not place it near naked flames or other heat sources
(heaters, direct sunlight, gas ovens etc.).
z Caution – danger of overheating
Always make sure there is sufficient ventilation so that heat
generated during normal operation can dissipate. Make sure
that the device is sufficiently far away from walls and other
objects so that the air can circulate.

z Never immerse the device in water.

z Before starting the device, ensure that the power supply line
and the plug are dry.
z Danger of fatal injury!
Do not touch exposed cables with your bare hands. This
especially applies when operating the device from an AC mains.
2.3 Operating the device safely at 12 V
e
z The cable between the battery and the cooler must be protected
by a fuse with a maximum rating of 15 A.
z Only select 12 V DC operation (battery mode) if you are using a
battery monitor or if the alternator in your vehicle provides
sufficient voltage.
z Only use cables with an appropriate cross section (see the table
on page 23).
2.4 Operating the appliance safely at 220 V – 240 V

z Only use the cable supplied to connect the appliance to the AC
mains.
z Never pull the plug out of the socket by the cable.
z If the connection cable is damaged, you must have it replaced
by WAECO customer service to prevent possible electrical

3 Intended use
The WAECO MyFridge MF-40 (item no. 9105700001) is a refrigerator for
cooling foodstuffs.
The device is designed for use with a 12 V on-board supply on a
car, boat or caravan or with a 220240-V AC mains supply.

Caution
If you wish to cool medicines, please check if the cooling capacity
of the device is suitable for the medicine in question.
4 Scope of delivery
5 Technical description
The refrigerator with its silent absorber cooling system can cool down or keep
products cool at up to 25 °C below ambient temperature.
You can use the continuously variable thermostat to set the temperature.
The door is sealed and kept closed by a magnetic seal.
The device can be connected to a 12 V on-board supply or to a 220–240 V
AC mains supply.

6 Connecting the cooler
Place the cooler on a firm base.
Ensure that the ventilation slots are at least 10 cm away from the wall so
that the heat that arises during operation can be drawn off.

Caution – risk of damage
Only operate the cooler on a single power source. Never connect it
to a 12 V on-board supply and a 220–240 V AC mains supply
simultaneously.
6.1 Connecting to 220 V – 240 V
e
Caution
Check that the voltage specification on the type plate is the same
as that of the power supply.
Plug the earthed plug into a properly installed safety plug socket.
Isolate the bare end of the unused 12 V cable (fig. 1 2, page 3).
6.2 Connecting to 12 V
e
Caution
Only select 12 V DC operation (battery mode) if you are using a
battery monitor or if the alternator in your vehicle provides sufficient
voltage.

Note
Disconnect the cooler from the battery when the engine is not
running as otherwise it will run down.
Note the following, to ensure that the cooler has a suitable power supply:
z The battery must be in good condition.
z The electrical wires in the vehicle must have a cross section of at least
1.5 mm².
z All wires must be securely fastened along their entire length.

Caution – danger of damaging the device
Make sure that the polarity is correct.
Make sure that the cable at the positive battery terminal (fig. 2 2,
page 3) is protected with a 15 A fuse (fig. 2 3, page 3).
Connect the brown cable (fig. 2 br, page 3) to the positive terminal of the
battery (fig. 2 2, page 3).
Connect the blue cable (fig. 2 bl, page 3) to the negative terminal of the
battery (fig. 2 2, page 3).
You can extend the cable if necessary, but only with a cable according to
the following table:
7 Operating the cooler

Note
Before starting your new cooler for the first time, you must clean it
inside and outside with a damp cloth for hygienic reasons (see also
chapter “Cleaning and maintenance” on page 25).
7.1 Energy saving tips
z Choose a well ventilated location which is protected from direct sunlight.
z Allow hot food to cool down first before you place it into the device.
z Do not open the cooling device more often than necessary.
z Do not leave the door open for longer than necessary.
z Arrange the food in the cooler so that air can circulate inside.

7.2 Using the cooling device
I
Note
Like every cooling device, your cooler must be properly ventilated
so that any heat created can be drawn off. Otherwise proper
functioning cannot be ensured.
Switch the cooler on by turning the temperature control (fig. 3 1 page 4)
clockwise.
The cooler starts cooling the interior.
You can set the temperature to any level using the control knob. The built-in
thermostat regulates the temperature as follows:
z 1 = least cooling
z 7 = most cooling

Warning
Only put items in the cooler which can be kept at the selected
temperature.
If you stop using the cooler, turn the temperature controller (fig. 3 1,
page 4) to “0”.

Note
If you are not going to use the cooler for a long time, leave the door
slightly ajar to prevent unpleasant odours building up.

Caution
Never clean the device under running water or in dish water.

Caution
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or hard objects during
cleaning as these can damage the device.

Caution
Always disconnect the mains plug before you clean and service the
device.
Occasionally clean the inside of the device with a damp cloth.
9 Warranty
Our general guarantee conditions apply. If the product is defective, please
send it back to the WAECO branch in your country (addresses on the back
of the manual) or to your dealer. For repair and warranty processing, please
include the following documents when you send in the device:
z A copy of the receipt with purchasing date
z Reason for the claim or a description of the fault

If possible, always dispose of the packaging material in the appropriate
recycling container.
When the time comes to scrap the device, ask your local recycling
centre or dealer for details about how to do this in accordance with
the applicable disposal regulations.
