GetStarted
YouwillneedtoactivateyourReconHUDbeforeyouuseit.Togetstarted,useyourcomputer’s
internetbrowserandgotoengage.reconinstruments.com/getstarted

ReconHUD.DownloadtheEngagebrowserplugin,learnhowtoupdatefirmware,createan
Engageaccount,andhittheslopes!
2. CustomizeFit
AdjustthegoggleFit.
Adjustthestrapslidersonyourgoggle’sstrap,sothatgogglefitscomfortablyand
securely.
TurnontheReconHUDbypushingthepowerbuttonontherightsideofthegoggle.
AdjusttheReconHUDorientation
WithyourfingersgentlyadjusttheorientationoftheReconHUDuntilthescreenisfully
visiblewhenyouarecomfortablywearingthegoggle.
PickaRemoteStrapandactivatetheremote
Chooseyourpreferredremotestrap(wristorgoggle)andsnapfititontotheremote.
Pressanybuttononremotetoturniton.

KeeptrackofyouractivitywiththeEngagewebsiteandtheReconEngageapp.Checkyourtrip
history,compareyourbestalltimestats,trackyourbuddies,andshareyouralpineexperience
withallyourfriends.Visitengage.reconinstruments.comformoreinfo.

BuiltinprecisionGPSmakesRadarcometolifegivingyouinformationon
yourcurrentlocation,full3Dskiresortmaps,andbuddiesinyourarea.
Navigation:Whenyou’reattheresort,findchairlifts,restaurants,andother
pointsofinterestnearyou.
BuddyTracking:Findandtrackwhereyourfriendsandfamilyareonthehill
soyoucaneasilymeetup.

Initiatepowersavingmodebyturningoffthedisplay.Pressthebackbuttonfromthe
Dashboardscreen.ReconHUDwillstillrecordallyourstatsinthismode.

GPStechnologyworksbestinopenspaceswithaclearviewofthesky.Obstructionssuchasbuildings
andtreescandegradetheGPSsignal.YourReconHUDwillautomaticallyacquireaGPSfixeachtime
youuseyourReconHUD.
SearchingforGPS GPSsignalwillbeflashing
GPSFixacquiredGPSarrowwillreplacethesatellite
IfyouarehavingdifficultyacquiringaGPSfix,thismaybeduetoseveralvaryingfactors:
‐yourdeviceisusedindoors
‐yourdeviceistryingtoacquireaGPSfixforthefirsttime
‐yourdevicehasnotbeenusedforanextendedperiodoftime
IfyouhavedifficultyacquiringaGPSfixtrypoweringdowntheHUDandrestartingitoutdoors(away
fromobstructionifpossible).
FactoryReset
AfactoryresetclearsalldatathatyourReconHUDhasrecorded.Italsounpairstheremote,clearsyour
settings,uninstallsanythirdpartyapps,andrestoresthedevicebacktothedefaultsettingsandoriginal
firmwaretheHUDwasshippedwith.
Toperformafactoryreset,gotoSettings>Advanced>FactoryReset
IfyouareunabletoaccessSettings,pleasereadtheinstructionsbelowtoperformthemanual
factoryresetprocedureusingtheReconHUDpowerbuttonandremote.
Followeachsteppromptlytoensureresetissuccessful.Ifyoumissanysteps,pleasestartagain.
1. Poweroffyourdevicebeforeproceeding.
2. OpenthemicroUSBcovertoexposetheLEDcharginglight.
3. PressandholdtheReconHUDpowerbuttonuntiltheredLEDcharginglightblinks.
4. Letgoofthepowerbutton‐theredLEDwillstarttoflashquickly.
5. WhiletheredLEDlightisflashing,pressandholdtheReconHUDpowerbuttonfor3seconds.
6. Letgoofthepowerbutton‐theredandblueLEDlightswillblinkinunison.
7. Pressthepowerbuttononcetoinitiatethefactoryreset‐awhiteboxandanAndroidiconwill
appearonthedisplay(thismaytake23minutestocomplete).
Note:youwillneedtopairyourremotewithyourHUDafterthefactoryresetiscomplete.

RemotePairing
YourremoteautomaticallycomespairedwithyourReconHUD,butifyouperformafactoryresetor
happentoloseyourremoteandpurchaseanewone,youwillberequiredtopairyourremotetoyour
HUDagain.
Tounpairyourremote,simultaneouslypressandholdtheLeftandRightbuttonsonyourremoteunyou
seetheLEDIndicatoronyourremoteflashamber.YourReconHUDstatusbarwillhavetheremotenot
connectedicon
PairingyourRemotetoyourHUD
NotetheIDnumberonthebackoftheremoteprintedonawhitelabel.
1. PoweroffyourReconHUDandpoweritonagain.
2. PressanybuttonontheremoteandwaitforapromptonyourReconHUDtoselectoneormore
remoteIDnumbers.
3. UsetheReconHUDpowerbuttontoscrolltotheIDnumberthatcorrespondstoyourremote.A
countdownwillbegin‐waitforthecountertoreach“0”onyourReconHUDscreen.
4. Nowcheckiftheremoteispaired:
1. Youwillseetheremoteconnectediconontheleftofthestatusbar
2. PressanybuttononyourremoteandyouwillseetheremoteLEDIndicatorflashblue


Storingyourdevice(offseason)
YourReconHUDrequiresafullchargebeforestoringitforanextendedperiodoftime.Werecommend
youchargeyourdeviceonceevery23monthsduringtheoffseason.
Charging
TochargeyourdeviceusingaPCorMAC:
1. Turnonyourcomputerandpoweroffyourdevice(ensureyoucomputerisnotinstandbymode)
2. FirstconnectthemicroUSBcabletoyourdevicethenplugtheUSBcableintotheUSBportonyour
computer.
3. CheckthataredLEDlightabovetheUSBportappears‐thisshowsthatyourdeviceischarging.
4. KeepcharginguntiltheredLEDlightturnsoff‐thisindicatesyourdeviceisfullycharged.
5. Ifyourcomputerdoesnotrecognizeyourdevice,tryreinsertingtheUSBcable.
TochargeyourdeviceusinganACadapter:
1. Poweroffyourdevice.ConnectthemicroUSBcabletoReconHUDthenplugtheUSBcableintotheAC
adaptershippedwithyourunit.PlugtheACadapterintoawalloutlet.
2. CheckthataredLEDlightabovethemicroUSBportappears‐thisshowsthatyourdeviceischarging.
3. KeepcharginguntiltheredLEDlightturnsoff‐thisindicatesyourdeviceisfullycharged.
Note:Inoptimalconditions,yourReconHUDcanachieveafastcharge(80%ofbattery)usingyourcomputerorAC
