Insys Powerline:

Insys Powerline is a device that enables switching and data transmission functions in machines according to the machine directive 2006/42/EC. It can also be used as a data transmission device for a PLC. The device is intended for use within industrial environments, such as usage and mounting in an industrial cabinet.

personnel as well as unauthorised modifications exclude the liability of the manufacturer for damages resulting from this. The liability of the
manufacturer ceases to exist.
Intended Use
The product may only be used for the purposes specified in the function overview of the manual. In addition, it may be used for the
following purposes:
Usage and mounting in an industrial cabinet.
Switching and data transmission functions in machines according to the machine directive 2006/42/EC.
Usage as data transmission device for a PLC.
The product may not be used for the following purposes and used or operated under the following conditions:
Use, control, switching and data transmission in machines or systems in explosive atmospheres.
Controlling, switching and data transmission of machines, which may involve risks to life and limb due to their functions or when a
breakdown occurs.
Potentially lethal operating voltage risk of death through shock hazard when touching it!
The power line used for communication must provide an easily accessible, fixed installed cut-off device and an automatic cutout. The
automatic cutout must be designed for a maximum nominal current of 16 A. The cut-off device must be designed bipolar for ungrounded
power supply networks (e.g. IT network or DC supply without PE reference).

Max. line length for power supplies, inputs and outputs as well as other signals: 30 m
Cable cross-section: 0.25 … 2.5 mm², flexible lines require end sleeves

INSYS Powerline connection
1. Apply supply voltage to terminals 4 (10..60 VDC) and 5 (GND)
2. Connect the neutral conductor of the communication line to the terminal 15 (N).
3. Connect the phase conductor of the communication line to the terminal 16 (L).
The device is searching for other devices with the same network key secret
automatically. The Link LED will illuminate in case of a successful connection.
4. Connect network cable to Ethernet connection (LAN)
A network with several INSYS Powerline is already ready for operation with default
configuration. However, it is recommended to proceed as follows to protect the
network against unauthorised participants to increase security.

Protect network
In order to change the network key secret of the connected devices, the configuration
software Power Packet Utility must be installed on your PC.

5. Connect an INSYS Powerline in the network to the network connection of your PC
6. Start Power Packet Utility (as administrator, if required)
The INSYS Powerline that is locally connected via LAN is displayed in the upper field on
the Main tab. All other devices that are connected via the communication line are
displayed in the field below.
7. Highlight each other device in the network and enter the Default Encryption Key (on the
device label) via the Enter Password button
8. Enter the new network key secret (Private Network Name) on the Privacy tab and select
the Set All Devices button
