ELK ELK-W119 Operating instructions

  • I've reviewed the instructions for the ELK Battery Wires W119. This document details how to install dual backup batteries to increase standby power. It covers important safety precautions regarding polarity and short circuits. Feel free to ask any questions about the installation or features mentioned in the document.
  • What is the purpose of the dual battery wires?
What is the length of the wires?
    Are the red wires protected?
What type of batteries can be connected?
1. Power down the M1 control and disconnect the baery.
2. Remove cover from M1 control and locate the baery lead terminals.
3. Remove the factory wires from the baery lead terminals.
4. Install the stripped end of the dual red baery wires in the RED terminal.
5. Install the stripped end of the dual black baery wires in the BLACK terminal.
6. Connect a red blade connector to the red (+) terminal of each of the two baeries.
7. Connect a black blade connector to the black (-) terminal of each of the two baeries.
8. Power up the M1 control.

IMPORTANT: The M1 control is designed to recharge 12 volt sealed lead acid baeries only. When
operang dual baeries the combined amphour (Ah) rang of the baeries must not exceed 18Ah in order
to maintain a charge on each baery.
DANGER-WARNING!
The red baery wires each have a 5 Amp inline fuse as a safety measure to help migate danger of incorrect connecon.
While connecng to the baeries a polarity reversal of either baery wire could cause a spark and damage the fuse.
Shorng the baery wires to one another could also cause a spark and damage the fuse.
The 5 Amp inline fuse IS NOT eld replaceable. Always keep a spare set of fused baery wires to use as replacements.
To test each fuse disconnect both ends of red wire and use an Ohmmeter to conrm connuity between the blade connector and the stripped end.
To verify each baery and fused wire is serviceable leave all wires connected and unplug the AC power transformer. Control should operate from one
baery as you momentarily disconnect red wire from the other. Repeat with other baery. If the control loses power either the baery or the fuse is bad.
