WARNING!
Do not run the dampers if the cylinder shafts are bent. This
will cause excessive wear on the PDS, and may damage it.
Check the shafts after each rally, or after large impacts.
NOTE!
If you have turned the adjuster without counting the
number of clicks, you must go back to the recommended
settings. Close the adjuster and count the clicks while
turning it counter clockwise.
CAUTION!
Using too much force when closing the adjusters will
destroy important sealing surfaces.
WARNING!
In order to prevent the lock nut for the spring
hitting the upper A-arm at full droop, the distance
A between the upper edge of the cylinder head
and the bottom of the lock nut should be mini-
mum 180 mm, see fig.

needs to be raised more than what is obtained
with the allowed distance A below , external
spacers (packers) should be used to prevent the
spring from bottoming.

In order to prevent bottoming the spring out, the
list below shows the maximum distance A be-
tween the upper edge of the cylinder head and
the bottom of the lock nut, see fig.

Mounting instructions
1
Lift the car so the rear wheels are clear of the
ground. Make sure it´s steadily fixed so it will not
fall down.
2
Remove the wheel and loosen the lower shock
absorber mounting bolt and the two nuts hold-
ing the top mount.
3
Remove the standard shock absorber by com-
pressing it slightly so it goes free from the lower
link.
4
Remove the top mount with rubber bushings from
the shock absorber and fit it to the Öhlins shock
absorber. The top mount should be located be-
tween the support ring (05915-01) and the washer
(05921-01)(Pos 4 and 2 in the Spare Parts
Manual). The spring is seated against the bot-
tom of the top mount.
CAUTION!
Avoid the use of an impact wrench when remov-
ing the top mount from the shock absorber, since
this can cause the piston nut to loosen from the
piston shaft.
5
Check the marking on the Öhlins shock absorb-
ers to locate left or right rear
CAUTION!
The shock absorber shall be mounted with the
reservoir towards the rear and the lower bracket
offset towards the wheel. The reservoir is then
offset towards the centre of the car.
6
Fit the shock absorber to the car. Reduce the
spring preload so the shock absorber can be
compressed to get it in position. Readjust the
spring preload when the shock absorber is fixed
to the car.

Continue your work accordning to Owners
manual, section Adjustments.
