Chapter 1 Introducing the FX5634 System
Overview
The FX5634 is an embedded system with low-power CPU module inside. This user’s
manual provides information on the physical features, installation, and BIOS setup
of the FX5634.
Built to unleash the total potential of the AMD - Sempron uPGA 638 pin S1
Processors with 800 MHz Front Side Bus ( FSB), Able to supports 1600Mhz ~ 2000Mhz
CPU, this system supports two 10/100/1000M Base –TX LAN ports, DDR2 667MHz-RAM,
mini PCI socket for wireless LAN, Four USB2.0 ports, and a VGA controller.
Each FX5634 has two ports for I/O communications. Two RS-232C ports are
available.
The FX5634 is perfect for ATM machines, KIOSK, point-of-sales/point-of- information,
gaming and infotainment, measurement technology, lotteries, and banking and
small Embedded Control. The unit is only 189.80.0mm (D) X280.0mm (W) X85mm (H).

Packing List
Upon receiving the package, verify the following things. Should any of the
mentioned happens, contact us for immediate service.
Unpack and inspect the FX5634 package for possible damage that may
occur during the delivery process.
Verify the accessories in the package according to the packing list and see
if there is anything missing or incorrect package is included.
If the cable(s) you use to install the FX5634 is not supplied from us, please
make sure the specification of the cable(s) is compatible with the FX5634
system.
Note: after you install the FX5634, it is recommended that you keep the diskette or
CD that contains drivers and document files, and keep the document
copies, or unused cables in the carton for future use.
The following lists the accessories that may be included in your FX5634 package.
Some accessories are optional items that are only shipped upon order.

One pack of 2.5” SATA hard disk installation kit with fixed screws.

Chapter 2 Hardware Installation
This chapter introduces the system connectors & jumper settings, and guides you to
apply them for field application.
Before Installation
Before you install the system, make sure you follow the following descriptions.
1. Before removing the cover, shut down the operation System and disconnect
power switch to off and unplug AC power code cable.
2. Install any connector, Compact Flash, and hard disk is sure that the power is
disconnected or power switch to off from the system. If not, this may damage
the system.
3. The ESD (Electricity Static Discharge) may be created from human body that
touches the board. It may do damage to the board circuit.

Removing Covers –Installing Hardware
If you are installing hardware option, you can remove the top or bottom cover.
The following figure will guide you how to install 2.5" HDD inside, Compact Flash
modules, expansion PCI card, mini PCI WLAN module and DDR2-RAM module the
FX5634 and how to install the FX5634 fixers.

b. Installing Mini PCI Card: Mini PCI Socket for WLAN Modules
You may extend additional mini PCI WLAN module to FX5634 by removing the top
cover. Connect the antenna cable from left side antenna hole to Mini PCI WLAN
(the auxiliary board). Release the screws on the top of the unit. (Please see the
spots circled.)

c. Installing Memory & Compact Flash: DIMM1/2 and CF Socket
The FX5634 support 2 DIMM socket and Compact flash socket, See as following
figure and rear pictures.
The DIMM socket supports 512MB to 2GB of DDR2 RAM
modules.

d. Installing PATA or SATA Hard Disk
The following figure will guide you install fix support HDD and to inside the FX5634.
d1. Screw the HDD Metal Frame to the HDD
Note: Use caution when handling the hard disk to prevent damage to IDE1
connector (-pin) as you inserted PATA hard disk. Be careful with the pin
orientation when installing connectors. A wrong connection can easily destroy

our hard disk.
