PI-505 Post Inserter

Note:

Lifting the machine in an awkward position or

transporting it in a poorly balanced position could

result in personal injury. When transporting the

machine, assign an adequate number of persons

to the job and ensure that each person can take a

good position of not being excessively loaded.

II. Installation Procedures

Note:

• When mounting the post inserter, mount it

before mounting the finisher to the machine.

• When mounting the punch kit at the same time,

mount the post inserter first.

• When handling the post inserter, grip it as

shown in the illustration below.

1. Turn off the machine and unplug the power cord

from the power outlet.

2. Remove protective tape and protective material.

3. Remove two screw covers and two screws, and

remove the upper cover (small).

4. Remove three screw covers from the upper cover

(large) and remove three screws.

5. Open the front door of the finisher and remove

two screws that hold the upper cover (large).

6. Remove the upper cover (large).

7. Install two of the screws that were removed at

step 4 at the locations as shown in the illustration.

Note:

Do not use the screw ➂.

8. Attach the cover furnished with the post inserter

(two screws C furnished with the post inserter).

9. Install two positioning screws furnished with the

post inserter at the locations as shown in the illus-

tration.

10. Install the post inserter to the finisher.

Note:

Place the post inserter in a location where the

positioning screw is fit into the hole as shown in

the illustration. Then slide the post inserter in the

direction of the arrow.

11. Connect the post inserter’s two connectors to

the finisher’s connectors.

12. Secure the post inserter (three screw A’s fur-

nished with the post inserter).

13. Attach the connector cover furnished with the

post inserter (one screw B furnished with the

post inserter).

14. Attach four screw covers furnished with the post

inserter.

15. Mount the finisher to the machine.

tion manual for finisher.

III. Label Attachment

1. Affix the label A furnished with the post inserter to

the post inserter operation section as shown in

the illustration.

Note:

Depending on the punch hole type to be used, a

different number of the label is affixed to a different

location.

2. Open the finisher front door and affix the label B

furnished with the post inserter as shown in the

illustration.

IV. Paper size detection

1. Plug the power cord into the power outlet and

turn on the machine.

2. Display the Service Mode screen.

(For details of how to display the Service Mode

screen, see the service manual.)

3. Touch “Finisher.”

4. Touch “FS-FN adjustment.”

5. Touch “Post Inserter Adjustment.”

6. Touch “Upper Tray” on the screen and load

A4 in the upper tray.

7. Press the Start key.

8. Make sure that “Adj. Result” is “OK.”

9. Touch “Lower Tray” on the screen and load

A4 in the lower tray.

10. Press the Start key.

11. Make sure that “Adj. Result” is “OK.”

12. Keep touching “OK” until the service mode

screen is displayed.

13. Touch “Exit” on the Service Mode screen.

14. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.

Note:

When displayed the Service Mode screen, be sure

to turn off the main power after exiting the Service

Mode screen and wait for 10 seconds or more

before turning on.

15. Make sure that the following paper sizes are cor-

rectly detected.

Upper tray: A4 , A4

Lower tray: A3 , A4 , A4

Upper tray: Letter , Letter

Lower tray: Ledger , Letter , Letter
