WARRANTY

LIMITED WARRANTY

BRIGGS & STRATTON will repair or replace, free of charge, any part(s) of the product that is defective in material or

workmanship or both. Transportation charges on product submitted for repair or replacement under this warranty must

be borne by purchaser. This warranty is effective for the time periods and subject to the conditions stated below. For

warranty service, find the nearest Authorised Service Dealer in our dealer locator map at BRIGGSandSTRATTON.COM.

THERE IS NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTY. IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THOSE OF MERCHANTABILITY

AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED TO ONE YEAR FROM PURCHASE, OR TO THE EXTENT

PERMITTED BY LAW. ANY AND ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUDED. LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR

CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARE EXCLUDED TO THE EXTENT EXCLUSION IS PERMITTED BY LAW. Some states

or countries do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, and some states or countries do not allow

the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation and exclusion may not apply

to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state

or country to country.

WARRANTY PERIOD - Consumer Use 6 months

The warranty period begins on the date of purchase by the first retail consumer or commercial end user, and continues

for the period of time stated above. “Consumer use" means personal residential household use by a retail consumer.

“Commercial use" means all other uses, including use for commercial, income producing or rental purposes. Once

equipment has experienced commercial use, it shall thereafter be considered as commercial use for purposes of this

warranty.

NO WARRANTY REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY TO OBTAIN WARRANTY ON BRIGGS & STRATTON PRODUCTS.

SAVE YOUR PROOF OF PURCHASE RECEIPT. IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE PROOF OF THE INITIAL PURCHASE DATE

AT THE TIME WARRANTY SERVICE IS REQUESTED, THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF THE PRODUCT WILL BE

USED TO DETERMINE THE WARRANTY PERIOD.

ABOUT YOUR WARRANTY

We welcome warranty repair and apologise to you for being inconvenienced. Any Authorised Service Dealer may

perform warranty repairs. Most warranty repairs are handled routinely, but sometimes requests for warranty service may

not be appropriate. For example, warranty service would not apply if equipment damage occurred because of misuse,

lack of routine maintenance, shipping, handling, warehousing or improper installation. Similarly, the warranty is void if

the manufacturing date or the serial number on the backpack sprayer or engine has been removed or the equipment

has been altered or modified. During the warranty period, the Authorized Service Dealer, at its option, will repair or

replace any part that, upon examination, is found to be defective under normal use and service. This warranty will not

cover the following repairs and equipment:

• Normal Wear: Outdoor Power Equipment, like all mechanical devices, needs periodic parts and service to perform

well. This warranty does not cover repair when normal use has exhausted the life of a part or the equipment.

Maintenance and wear items such as filters, seals, spark plugs, gaskets, clutch pads, are not covered by warranty

due to wear characteristics alone, unless the cause is due to defects in material or workmanship.

• Installation and Maintenance: This warranty does not apply to equipment or parts that have been subjected to

improper or unauthorised installation or alteration and modification, misuse, negligence, accident, overloading,

overspeeding, improper maintenance, repair or storage so as, in our judgment, to adversely affect its performance

and reliability. This warranty also does not cover normal maintenance such as air filters, adjustments, fuel system

cleaning and obstruction (due to chemical, lime, dirt, and so forth).

• Stale Fuel: In order to function correctly, this product requires fresh fuel that conforms to the criteria specified in the

Operator's Manual. Damage caused by stale fuel (carburettor leaks, clogged fuel tubes, sticking valves etc) is not

covered by warranty.

• Other Exclusions: This warranty excludes wear items such as quick couplers, seals, o-rings, damage or malfunctions

resulting from accidents, abuse, modifications, alterations, or improper servicing or freezing or chemical deterioration.

Accessory parts, such as blades, trimming alloy heads etc are excluded from the product warranty. This warranty

excludes used, reconditioned, and demonstration equipment and failures due to acts of God and other force majeure

events beyond the manufacturers control.

Safety Instructions

Do not operate the BRIGGS & STRATTON Trimmer before reading all

Instructions & reading all Safety & Handling sections.

Operator Safety

• Wear the necessary safety equipment, as listed on page (6), in the Personal Safety

Equipment Section.

• Always wear heavy, long pants. Do not wear loose clothing, jewellery, short pants,

sandals or go barefoot. Secure hair so it is above shoulder length.

• Do not operate the unit if you are tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or

medication.

• Keep firm footing and balance.

• Do not overreach.

• Keep the cutting attachment below waist level.

• Keep all parts of your body away from the rotating cutting attachment and hot

surfaces.

Unit Safety

• The product is intended for garden maintenance trimming of organic ground covering

such as grass and lawn. The product must not be used for or modified for uses other

than is intended, unless approved by the manufacturer.

• Inspect the entire unit and cutting head before each use.

• Ensure that the guard is properly attached.

• Do not use the unit if it is running erratically. Have it serviced promptly.

• Keep handles free of oil and fuel.

• Learn how to stop the engine quickly in an emergency.

• Stop the engine when the unit is unattended. Never leave engine running while

unattended.

• Never allow children or unauthorised persons to operate the unit.

• Do not leave the unit on dry cuttings when it is Hot, as a risk of fire is present. Do not

cover muffler or restrict airflow to muffler..

Fuel Safety

• Use a container approved for fuel and a funnel to avoid spillage.

• Mix and pour fuel outdoors where there are no sparks or flames.

• Frequently check for fuel leaks.

• Do not smoke or allow smoking near fuel, or near the unit, or while using the unit.

• Add fuel before starting the unit.

• Never remove the fuel tank cap while the engine is running or hot, allow to cool

before refuelling.

• Never allow the unit to run out of fuel before refuelling.

• Move at least 3 metres away from the fuelling site before starting the engine.

Starting Safety

• Start the engine with feet well away from the cutting head.

• Ensure that the area of starting and operation is clear of sticks, stones, glass, nails,

wire, string and debris, which could be thrown by the cutting head.

Cutting Safety

• Use only in good visibility and favourable weather conditions.

• Keep children, animals and bystanders outside the 15 metre hazard zone. Stop the

engine immediately if approached.

• Keep the engine to the right of your body, holding the unit with both hands.

• Keep a firm footing and balance. Do not over reach.

• Keep the cutting head below waist level and do not raise the engine above your

shoulder. The cutting head can come dangerously close to your body.

• Keep your body away from the cutting head and muffler when the unit is running.

• Do not strike objects that may cause harm or damage to the unit.

Maintenance Safety

• Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug before clearing blockages, checking

or working on the unit. Clean carbon from the muffler at exhaust outlet frequently.

• Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug and inspect the unit if it begins to vibrate

abnormally or if it strikes a foreign object.

• Use only genuine BRIGGS & STRATTON trimmer line. Never use wire, rope, string,

etc.

• Use only genuine BRIGGS & STRATTON replacement parts.

Transporting and Storage

• Hand carry the unit with the engine stopped and the muffler away from your body.

• Allow the engine to cool, empty the fuel tank and secure the unit before storing or

transporting in a vehicle.

• Empty the fuel tank after each use and before storing the unit.

• Store the unit and fuel well away from sparks or open flames from water heaters,

electric motors, switches or furnaces, etc.

• Store the unit out of reach of children and unauthorised persons.

Safety Instructions

Personal Safety Equipment

Always use the following safety equipment when working with your trimmer:

• A safety helmet fitted with a visor or suitable eye protection.

• A set of ear muffs.

• A pair of protective gloves.

• A pair of safety boots.

The following safety precautions must be strictly observed to avoid the risk of damage or

personal injury.

Prior to using the unit, clear the operating area of objects which may

be thrown up by the cutting head, such as rocks, glass and other

debris.

Do not start or operate the unit inside a closed room or building.

Breathing exhaust fumes can kill.

Be careful when operating the unit on slippery ground or overgrown

terrain. Be attentive for concealed hazards, such as ditches, tree

stumps and roots.

Maintain solid footing and balance while operating the unit. Cut only

on ground level.

Never use the unit without the guard securely in place.

Do not touch the cutting head in motion. When handling blade for

assembly or maintenance tasks, always wear protective gloves.

Bystanders must be at least 15 metres away during operation of the

unit, as rocks and other materials may be thrown at high velocities.

Switch the unit off immediately if approached.

Keep body away from hot muffler parts.

Adjusting Handles

STRAIGHT SHAFT BRUSHCUTTERS

1. Install the shaft mounting (Item-1 & Item-2) using two allen bolts.

2. Mount the two handles on the shaft mounting as shown in the Fig.-5 and

install handle mounting (Item-3) using 4 allen bolts.

3. Slightly loosen all the bolts to adjust the height and angle of the handle as per

individual requirements and retighten.

NOTE: During assembly or adjustment, make sure the power cable is not

entangled or damaged.

NOTE: Make sure the handle is fitted properly before operating.

BACKPACK BRUSHCUTTERS

1. Align the handle and mounting on the shaft as shown in the Fig.7 and install

by using 4 allen bolts.

2. Loosely tighten all the bolts to adjust the height and angle of the handle as

per individual requirements and then tighten completely.

NOTE: Make sure the handle is fitted properly before operating.

Guard Assembly

Engine Locking Screw

Install Carry Harness

Engine Locking Screw

A locking screw (A, Figure 14) is located in the

engine/shaft adapter, and is used to keep the engine

from moving when the trimmer is in use. The screw

may be loosened to allow the repositioning of the

engine.

NOTE: Only applicable for Straight Shaft models.

Backpack models comes assembled with carry

harness.

The carry strap harness is intended to help you work

safely and ergonomically with the machine.

• Hook the harness into the eyelet hole (Fig 12)

• Slip the harness strap over your shoulder.

• Adjust the length of the strap to allow the trimmer

head or blade to cut parallel to the ground. Make

a few swinging movements to check operating

comfort before starting the engine.

Do not use the product without the guard.

A

Safety guard is supplied loose in the package and needs assembly. Refer Figure 9, 10

and 11.

• Align the hole in the safety guard mounting with gearbox and screw loosely.

• Install the safety guard on shaft and fit with mounting bracket using 4 screws.

• Tighten all the screws.

Cutting Head Assembly

INSTALLING ALLOY HEAD

1. Align hole in Gearbox slot (A) and

Mounting Washer (B).

2. Insert Allen Key (C) through hole in

Gearbox Flange (D), through hole in

Mounting Washer and into Gearbox slot.

Firmly support Allen key to lock shaft

rotation.

3. Install the Alloy Head Cover (E) and Alloy

head (F) as shown in Fig.-15.

4. Grip the head & rotate counterclockwise

to tighten.

INSTALLING BRUSHCUTTER BLADE

1. Align hole in Gearbox slot (A) and

Mounting Washer (B).

2. Insert Allen Key (C) through hole in

Gearbox Flange (D), through hole in

Mounting Washer and into Gearbox slot.

Firmly support Allen key to lock shaft

rotation.

3. Install Blade (E), Clamp cup (F), Blade

Guard (G), Lock Washer (H) and Lock Nut

(I) in the same order as shown in Fig.-16.

4. Grip the head & rotate counterclockwise

to tighten.

BRIGGS & STRATTON brushcutters are supplied with cutting head options which can be

changed as preferred.

NOTE: Not firmly supporting alignment locking

of shaft with the Allen Key may cause damage

to the Gearbox or Mounting Washer.

NOTE: Ensure that the mounting washer is

placed in the correct position when installing.

The open end of the mounting washer shall

always face the gearbox.

Always ensure the line cutting blade on the guard is covered with the blade

protector when fitting, changing or removing the cutting head.

Always disconnect the spark plug lead before any work is done on the

trimmer.

Never operate the machine without a cutting head fitted.

Never fit an alternative cutting head that has not been recommended by the

manufacturer.

Beware of sharp blades. Always wear safety gloves to avoid any injury.

1. Cut a length of line to 44cm, or use BRIGGS & STRATTON part number TR00200A.

Bend line in half at the centre (equal ends). Use only 3mm diameter Nylon line (Fig-17)

2. Push the bent end of the line under the lug of the trimmer head (Fig-18)

3. Push one end of the line into the hole on the same side of the head as the line end. Pull

the line through the hole until loops or slack between the hole centre lug is removed.

4. Repeat step 3 for opposite side.

5. Refer to image for correct complete assembly of the nylon line into the head.

6. To remove used line, bend new line as in (1), slide new line under used line through

slot in cast head.

7. Holding both ends of the new line together, pull the old line out of the cast head.

Repeat process for the other side (8).

Only use genuine BRIGGS & STRATTON 3mm diameter nylon trimmer line in the

Cast Alloy Head.

Unequal lengths of line, or mounting of line "off-centre" will cause vibration and

damage to unit.

Excessive trimmer line length will damage guard and clutch or tangle in head

gearbox. Do not fill head with excessive length line longer than limits of the

guards.

Nylon line will deteriorate over time and may require replacement if line

breakages, line wear & cut performance is not satisfactory. Replace line when

worn to approx 50mm from trimmer head body.

Installing Transmission Shaft (Backpack model only)

Throttle Cable Installation (Backpack model only)

Transmission shaft comes loose in backpack models and

requires asssembly with the engine unit. Refer Figure 25.

1. Pull the pin insert (A) up and hold.

2. Connect the shaft (B) with the clutch (C) and release the

pin. If done properly, the pin will snap back into position.

Install the throttle cable as shown in Figure 26

1. Open the sleeve, connect cable 1 (A) & cable 2 (B)

together.

2. Close the sleeve (C).

Please check the pin is locked in properly

before starting the machine.

Necessary Checks

Fuelling Procedures

NOTE: Product may need to be reprimed if it has run out of fuel.

Petrol (unleaded) 2-stroke oil

5 litre 200 ml

Mixing procedure: 25 parts unleaded petrol to 1 part 2-stroke oil

Recommended Fuel: A minimum of 87 octane/87AKI (91RON) or

Gasoline with up to 10% ethanol (gasohol) or

Gasoline with up to 15% MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether).

Check the position & operation of controls to ensure you are comfortable

before you start using the machine. Triggers, starter cord and grip position

should provide smooth operation, balance and comfort before starting the

machine.

Check cutting unit and all safety devices are in perfect condition. Check that

all screws are securely fastened.

Always use the shoulder strap when using the machine. Switch off the

engine before you take off the shoulder strap.

Inspect that there are no leaks in the fuel system.

Always use the machine outdoors. Exhaust fumes are toxic and can cause

serious illness or fatality.

The use of other oils and or ratios will affect the engine lubrication, which

may cause engine damage and void engine manufacturer's warranty.

Do not use a fuel mixture which has been kept for longer than 90 days, it

may damage the unit.

Only use containers designed and approved for the purpose to transport

and store fuel.

Do not use the product near inflammable liquids or gases.

Do not smoke whilst refuelling or working with the machine.

Start the machine at least 3 metre away from the refuelling site to avoid the

possible risk of fire.

• Use only clean fresh 'Regualar Unleaded Gasoline' and high quality 2-stroke oil.

• Use the provided bottle to mix normal unleaded petrol and 2-stroke engine oil as

indicated in the table below.

• Remove cap and slowly add fuel and oil mixture in the fuel tank. Do not fill above the

bottom of the fuel tank neck.

• Close the tank with fuel cap. Clean area around fuel cap.

OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS

1. Set the machine down on a hard, level surface.

2. Press the fuel pump primer until it becomes hard and

full of fuel (See Fig 27). This is not required for backpack

brushcutter models.

3. Ensure the 'STOP SWITCH' is set to the 'START' position

(See Figure 28).

4. Set the choke lever (A) to the 'CLOSE' position (See Fig

29).

**

5. Hold the machine firmly and pull the starter cord slowly

until resistance is felt. Then pull rapidly until the engine

starts.

6. After the engine has warmed up, move the choke lever

downwards to an 'OPEN' position

***

*NOTE: Backpack brushcutter models are fitted with 'Float

Type' carburetor and does not required to pump the primer.

**NOTE: Keep the choke lever in the 'OPEN' position if the

machine is recently used and engine is warm.

***NOTE: Adjustment of the choke lever between "CLOSE"

and "OPEN" position may be required during engine warm-

up. Engine warm-up may take several minutes until the

engine is running hot and engine speed is stable.

If the engine does not start up after several attempts, read the section on

troubleshooting.

Always pull the starter out in a straight line.

IF THIS IS NOT FOLLOWED, STARTER CORD WILL BE FRAYED AND CORD

WILL BREAK!

Do not start or operate the machine indoors. Exhaust fumes are toxic.

Starter cord may retract rapidly (KICKBACK) while starting the engine which

can result in injury.

Stopping Instructions

Using Throttle

1. Release the throttle (straight shaft models) or slide the throttle to idle position (backpack

models).

2. Move the stop switch to 'STOP' position.

NOTE: The switch will need to be returned to the 'ON' position prior to restarting.

STRAIGHT SHAFT MODELS

Straight shaft models are fitted with speed lock option

on throttle. Speed lock enables the user to use the

brushcutter without the need of keeping the throttle

pressed. To operate:

1. Press the Presence Trigger (A) followed by Throttle

Trigger (B) to start.

2. Allow few seconds for the cutting head to reach max

RPM.

3. Hold the throttle fully pressed, and then press the

Speed Lock button (C) to lock the high speed.

4. To disengage the speed lock, press the throttle trigger

once.

NOTE: When speed lock is engaged, the cutting head

speed is less than the max RPM.

BACKPACK MODELS

Backpack models uses Non-

return type throttle control

which is manually operated

to increase or decrease the

speed.

1. Slide the throttle lever (A) to

increase the RPM speed of

the cutting head.

2. To decrease the speed slide

the throttle lever backwards.

USING TRIMMER LINE ALLOY HEAD

• Do not use the alloy head without trimmer line.

• Remove the safety cover from cut-off blade before using alloy head.

• Do not use steel wire or plastic coated steel wire of any kind with your string head.

Serious injury can result.

*NOTE: Blade thrust (kickback) is the sudden, forceful, and

uncontrolled movement of a trimmer that may occur if the

blade binds in the cut or if the blade strikes a solid object.

• Replace or resharpen dull blades. Dull blades are more

likely to bind in the cut and cause blade thrust.

• Watch for hidden obstacles, such as rocks, stumps, roots,

etc., that could cause the blade to kickback if struck. Blade

thrust is more likely to occur in areas where it is difficult to

see what is being cut.

• Accelerate the engine to maximum speed before starting

the cut, and saw through with uniform pressure.

USING BRUSHCUTTER BLADE

• Remove the blade cover before starting the engine or the blade cover may fly off at high

speed.

• Do not use the blade near walls and stone foundations as it may damage the blade and

can cause 'Blade Kickback'

Beware of thrown objects. Do not operate cutting heads without

safety guard in place.
