BEFORE YOU START - CHARGING
1. You should fully charge your pen before rst
use. Allow about 4 hrs for full charge or charge
overnight for rst time.
1.Take out included USB cable and plug in to port
on pen and USB portion to USB port on your
computer!
Inside, be sure the power control is set to OFF -
away from the Red Dot.
Carefully insert the USB cable as shown, with the
silver side UP. Please do not force the cable into
position.

RECORDING
To record with this pen, you rst need to
turn on the main Power switch. See image
to le. Turn it to ON position.
e LCD screen will say Welcome and turn
on. You are now ready o record.
You can do one of the following:
1. Record immediately by sliding the record
switch to REC position and begin recording
immediately, OR
2. Set recording parameters (see next page)

POWER SWITCH
Quick power notes:
1. Aer turning on main power switch, if unit is not recording, it will turn o automatically
aer 3 minutes of idling. You can turn it back on (so ON) by pressing and holding down the
PLAY button to turn it back on. You do not need to turn the power switch o and on again.
is applies also if you wre in the middle of adjusting something and the power turned o
aer a little idle time. Do the same.

RECORDING PARAMTERS
RECORDING QUALITY:
You can select various recording qualitites. e higher the quality the better the sound capture
but also the quicker you use up memory. Keep that in mind. So depending on the situation you
can adjust sound quality accordingly.
Quality levels are: 32kbps, 64kbps, 128kbps(standard), 192kbps, 384kbps(great!)
1. Turn system switch to ON position (or if already ON but screen is o, press and hold PLAY
button till screen turns on)
2. Firmly press M button, then press the VOL+ or VOL- button to go through menu options until
you see REC TYPE then press M again.
3. Now use the VOL UP or VOL DOWN to get your quality level then press M to select that
quality level. Use chart below for what the quality level means for your memory usage:

VOICE ACTIVATION:
Voice activation is if you want unit to only record when there is sound in the vicinity. If not, it
will pause recording then immediately start again once sound is detected. is is very useful to
save memory.
1. 1. Turn system switch to ON position (or if already ON but screen is o, press and hold
PLAY button till screen turns on)
2. Firmly press M button, then press the VOL+ or VOL- button to go through menu options
until you see AVRONOFF then press M again.
3. Now use the VOL UP or VOL DOWN to get ENABLE or DISABLE then press M to conrm
selection. You are done!
DELETE FILE (Single le):
is feature allows you to easily delte les without the
need of a computer. However be careful you dont delete
the wrong les. Alternatively you can plug this unit into
your computer USB port to manage les. Your call.
1. 1. Turn system switch to ON position (or if already
ON but screen is o, press and hold PLAY button till
screen turns on)
2. Before you go to delete a le, make sure you are on
the le to be deleted on the LCD screen. See screen
opposite.
3. Select the le you wish to delete on the screen by
using the V- or V+ button until that le appears on the
LCD screen. CURRENT RECORDING or FILE NAME
2. en rmly press M button, then press the VOL+ or
VOL- button to go through menu options until you see
DELETE FILE then press M again.
3. Now use the VOL UP or VOL DOWN to to select
YES or NO. then press M Yor selected le is deleted

RECORDING PARAMTERS
PLEASE USE THIS FUNCTION CAREFULLY lest you delete les you did not mean to!
PRESS the center of the joystick to begin playing your les.
1. Follow same instructions as DELETE FILE section. However in this case you do not need
to select a le on the LCD screen since you want to wipe the slate clean! again use this featuer
with caution!

PLAYBACK ON PC or PEN
ON PC:
To listen to your recordings on a PC, be sure the Power Switch is in OFF position
Connect the USB cable to the pen.
Connect the other end to your PC or Mac via a USB port.
In a few seconds, your PC will connect to your pen and a window may open showing you the
contents.
Your Pen will appear as an External Drive or Removable Disk such as in this picture:
- Open the drive and then open the RECORD folder then the VOICE folder. Your les
will be located in this area.
Save your les on your PC by COPYing them into a folder.
You can then DELETE them from your Pen. Note to Mac Users - please EMPTY your
TRASH aer Deleting les, before you remove your pen from your computer.
To remove your pen, EJECT it from your PC as you would any external drive, then pull it
from your USB port.
ON PEN:
Its very easy to play back your recordings via the pen.
Simply connect your included headphone and press the PALY button. Your recordings should
start playing in order. Use the VOL UP or VOL DOWN to skip to next or revious le.

Your Windows PC or Mac has built-in soware that will play most of the les created by devices
like yours. However, if you are having problems playing your les, or need more options, please
download and try these programs.

and tutorials for these programs on their respective websites. SafetyBasement can not provide
soware support for these programs
As with ANY les you download from the internet, be sure to scan them for viruses using your
particular virus scanner. While most users report no issues using this soware, we can not be
responsible for any damage caused by this soware. Please proceed carefully. Back up your PC
before installing any new soware.

to this link, and choose the download for your version of Windows. Please
note: Movie Maker is part of the Windows Essentials package.
