GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The OMEGABOND
®
OB-600 High Temperature Chemical
Set Cement is a one-part ceramic cement which has many
exceptional characteristics including:
• Resiststemperaturesto1426°C(2600°F)

OMEGABOND
®
OB-600cementisanelectricalrefractory
cementusedwherehighlevelsofelectricalinsulation
andthermalconductivityareneeded.Itisidealforpotting
applicationsthataresubjecttohightemperatureand/orthermal
shock.Thecementprovidesheavy-dutyelectricalinsulation
forappliances,nickelchromiumresistanceheatingelements,
pyrometersandresisters.

600CementPowderisaharmfuldust.Avoid
breathingdustbyusingrespirators.Avoidcontactwitheyes
orskinbywearingglovesandgogglesorafaceshield.Wash
thoroughlywithsoapandwaterafterhandling.Keepcontainers
closed.
SHELF LIFE

600CementPowderhasashelflifeof1year
whenstoredinunopened,tightlysealedcontainersinadry
locationat70°F.
SOLVENT
A10%causticoralkalinesolutionsuchas10%NaOH(Sodium
Hydroxide)willbreakdowntheOB-600cementafterithas
cured.However,careshouldbeexercisedasfarasthe
compatibilityofthecausticsolutionwithanyothercomponents
involvedintheapplication,suchasthematerialorsurfacethat
thecuredcementhasbeenappliedto.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
OMEGABOND
®
OB-600 cement is a one-part cement and is
suppliedasapowder.Weighout100partsofOMEGABOND
®
600powderand13partsofwater.Firstplacethepowderinto
acleanmixingcontainer.Thenaddwatertothepowderallat
onetimewhilemixing-DONOTADDWATERGRADUALLY!
Continue mixing with a slow-speed mixer or with a hand spatula
untilsmooth,uniformconsistencyisobtained.Avoidusing
excessamountsofwater.Excesswaterreducesthemechanical
strength,increasestheamountofshrinkageanddelaysthe
settingtimeofthecement.Failureofthecementtoadhere
indicatessettinghasbegun-inthiscasediscardthecement(do
notattempttoretemperbyaddingmorewater).
PoroussubstratesshouldbedampenedwithOMEGABOND
®
CementThinningLiquid(PartNo.OB-TL),priortoapplication
ofthemixedcement.
CURING
OMEGABOND
®
600 cement cures with an internal chemical-
settingactionin18-24hoursatambienttemperature. Cure time
canbeacceleratedbylowtemperatureovendryingat180°F.
Ifthecementistobeexposedtoelevatedtemperatures,cure
for18-24hoursatambienttemperature,thenovendryfor4
hoursat180°Fandforanadditional4hoursat220°FThishelps
topreventflakingandchipping.Theworkingtimeofmixed
OMEGABOND
®
600cementisapproximately30minuteswhen
thepowderismixedwithwaterat70°F.
CLEAN-UP
Allequipmentshouldbecleanedwithsoapandwaterbefore
OMEGABOND600cures.Ifremovalisrequiredaftercure,
consultMSDSorOMEGAforrecommendations.
