Introducing iRiver Media Converter
iRiver Media Convert is designed to optimize video files for portable video players.
It will convert from a variety of formats (AVI, MPG, MPEG, WMV, and ASF) into the
ideal format for size, quality, and portability. iRiver strongly recommends using this
tool to convert any files that do not playback properly on your portable device.
Issues such as audio/video synchronization, buffering issues, error messages,
and failure to play files are often resolved by using this converter.

Software Requirements (Windows)
Prior to installing the iRiver Media Converter, you will need to have the
following updated programs.
- Microsoft DirectX 9.0b or highter.
Download from http://www.microsoft.com/directx/
- Windows Medial Player 9.
Download from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/
- DivX 5.1.1 or higher (recommended) - Included on the installation CD.

Hardware Requirements
iRiver Media Converter will properly work on most multimedia PCs.
However, we recommend using an up-to-date PC for best performance.
Our suggested system is as follows:
- Intel Pentium III CPU (Pentium-4 is recommended)
- 256MB RAM (512MB is recommended)
- DirectX 9 supported Graphic Adapter (64MB video memory is recommended)

Other Information
iRiver Media Converter may not work if some video codex packs are not
installed properly. If video files are not converted properly or iRiver Media
Converter crashes, try uninstalling any unknown codex, then reinstall DivX
from the installation CD and Windows Media Player 9 from Microsofts web site.
iRiver Media Converter may not convert some non-standard or abnormal
media files, of which video and audio codec information will not be displayed
properly in the source media file window.

Click “Next” if you are satisfied with
the settings.
Click "Finish" after the installation
is completed.
To select a different installation
folder click "Browse" otherwise click
"Next" to continue.

Installation will begin after selecting
the desired language
Click “Next”.
Read the Licence Agreement.
Click “Yes”.
Enter your registration information
and click “Next”. The serial number
is located on the CD jacket.
Insert the Installation CD into the
CD-ROM drive. The follwing screen
appears after inserting the CD.
If the installation doesn't automatically
begin, execute the "setup.exe" file
in the "iRiver Media Converter"
folder on the installation CD.
The installation program will begin.

Add the source media file(s) to

Specify a target folder to which the
converted files will be saved.
To select a destination folder click
"Browse".

Select resolution and quality of
output movies.
Note : For best compression iRiver recommends
using the "Low" setting. This will allow more
video files to be stored on a portable player.
Set to "High" for optimal resolution when
outputting to a TV or other video source.
Files will take up more space but quality on
external sources will be improved.

Activate or deactivate Forced
Audio/Video Sync.
Note : Forced Audio/Video Sync
If the source movie clip has VBR
(Variable Bit Rate) audio stream,
the converted movie may have audio/video
sync problem. When activated, Forced
Audio/Video Sync reduces lots of loss in
video/audio sync of converted movie.

Click “OK” to finish.
Click "Start" to begin file conversion.
The time for video conversion will
depend largely on the speed of the
host computer and the size of the file.
Large files can take one or more
hours to complete
Some non-standard or abnormal media files may not be converted or may
have issues with audo/video synchronization. The following screens are
displayed with file information.
