Proper/designated use
The OLSW is a stationary filter housing which is used to separate oil from
watery fluids.
Any other uses shall be deemed to be improper and not in keeping with the
product's designated use.
The manufacturer will not assume any liability for any damage resulting from
such use.
Proper or designated use of the product extends to the following:
Observing all the notes contained in these operating instructions
Performing requisite inspection and maintenance work.
Improper Use
Improper use can result in hazards.
Improper use includes, for example, using the OLSW with a non-authorized
fluid.
Informal Safety Precautions
Make sure to always keep the operating instructions in the vicinity of the filter
housing.
In addition to the operating instructions, the general and local regulations on
accident prevention and environmental protection are to be made available
and observed.
All safety guidelines and hazard warnings on the machine must be
maintained in legible condition and replaced as required.
Check the hoses and connection fittings for leakage daily (visual check). The
electrical components of the OLSW must also be checked regularly (visual
check once a month). Replace any loose connections or damaged cables
immediately.
Safety Measures to Be Followed during Normal Operation
The OLSW may be operated only if all of the safety devices function properly.
The filter housing is to be checked once a day for external damage and the
proper functioning of the safety devices.

OLSW Features
The OffLine Separator Water OLSW is used to remove oil from water-based
washing liquids, which are contaminated with mineral oils (density < 900
kg/m³).
Coalescing procedure
The dewatering works according to the coalescence principle, during which
the oil collects on the fibers of the coalescing element and is conveyed
deeper into the coalescing element by the fluid flow. Smaller drops unite to
form larger ones at the fiber nodes during this process. Large oil drops climb
upwards and can be removed from the system by opening a valve.
The application is used in the bypass flow. The use of a micro-filtration
system is expedient to ensure the maximum possible service life of the
coalescing elements.
Limits of the coalescing procedure
The filter housing is unsuitable for the separation of oils whose density is
higher than 900 kg/m3, such as ester-based liquids and polyglycols.
OLSW Features
OLSW
en(us)
Page 17 / 44
MoWa OLSW 3587900a en-us 2018-08-17.docx
2018-08-17
The coalescing elements must be protected from contaminant particles by a
pre-filter so that the transport of oil drops is not obstructed by contaminant
particles.
HYDAC recommends the use of a WombatFilter WBF as pre-
filter. For details, see www.hydac.com.
Restrictions Pertaining
NOTICE
Impermissible operating media
The filter housing will be damaged
The OLSW may be used only in combination with watery fluids that
contain small amounts of mineral oil (water with mineral oil <10% by
volume).
Aggressive or explosive fluids must not be conveyed.
