2. PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
AUX Link car adapter connects iPhone, iPod and iPad to the original stereo system of
a car and gives you the possibility to enjoy the crystal clear sound from your favourite
mobile device wherever you go. Thanks to the inbuilt software, commands from the
original CD changer controls can be translated into commands that Apple devices
understand. In other words the interface makes it possible for iPhone, iPod or iPad to

take the place of an original CD changer. Car adapter AUX Link provides a number of
useful benefits:
1. Plug & play: The adapter plugs directly into the CD changer port.
2. Line Level Audio: Delivers Hi-Fi line level audio output from your Apple device to your
factory car audio.
3. Different ways to control music playback: Music can be controlled directly from the
Apple device, or the car radio, or the buttons on the steering wheel.
4. Simultaneous charging of your mobile device: You always have your iPhone, iPod or
iPad charged and ready to go.
5. Additional AUX Input: Possibility to connect any audio device with 3.5 mm audio mini
jack (mobile phones, MP3 players, tablets, laptops, netbooks, PSP, etc.).
6. Possibility to stay connected without risk of missing an incoming call: You hear an
incoming call via radio speakers.
7. Last position memory: The playback continues from where it stopped before (useful
for listening to audio books or learning foreign languages while driving). However, music
tracks played via AUX IN do not support last position memory.
8. Supports MP3/WMA/AAC (iTunes) formats: You can listen to music even of those
formats that are not supported by the OEM car audio.
9. Additional Bluetooth (Hands Free) module: all music playback functions and call
features are provided through the wireless connection.

4. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Important:
The adapter is only suitable for vehicles that have 12 Volt DC and
negative ground system. It is forbidden to use it on any other voltage
system.
The adapter only operates on vehicles that have factory fitted head unit
or aftermarket car radio, equipped with a CD changer port.
The installation can differ slightly depending on the model of the car and
the model of the car stereo.
Carefully read the User Manual before the installation. To guarantee the
correct installation and functioning of the adapter it is highly
recommended to have it installed by professional staff.
Some vehicles may require special tools to remove the car stereo. It is
advisable to consult your vehicle’s dealership or car audio professional if
necessary.
In order to escape causing damage to the adapter or your mobile
device, please, do not use wire harness from other similar products.
NOTE: MP3/CDC Switch Cable is optional and available for some vehicles only.
1. Turn off the car engine and remove the key from ignition.
2. Make sure your car radio doesn´t have a Security Code, otherwise be certain to
have it before unplugging the radio.
3. Extract the radio from the dash to get access to its rear side.
4. Find a CD Changer port at the back of the radio.

5. Plug the wire harness connector into the CD changer port at the back of the
radio. Make sure it has a firm connection.
6. Connect your iPhone, Pod or iPad to the adapter through the iPod cable. Switch
on the electric power and turn on the car radio. Press the CD (or
Disc/Mode/CDC/SOURCE/AUX) button on radio repeatedly until "CD x-x"
appears on the radio display (x stands for the track number of "Now Playing"
song on iPod), which proves that iPod mode has been completely synchronized
and activated. The time necessary for synchronization varies depending on the
number of playlists that you have on your device.
7. Test the performance of the device by playing some of your music files.
8. If the test is successful, insert the car radio back into the dash and put the wire
harness and the adapter unit in a proper place.
9. Put the iPod and AUX cables in a convenient place (they can be displayed in the
ashtray, glove box, etc.).
10. The installation is completed. Connect your mobile device and enjoy your
favourite songs with high quality sound.
Important:
If the harness has a BLACK ground wire, please attach it to any metal part of the
head unit body; If the harness has a YELLOW power wire, please attach it to the
power of the car, which connects to the battery; If the harness has a RED ACC
wire, please attach it to the ACC signal of the car. It’s extremely important to attach
these cables to the right place otherwise the AUX Link car adapter will not work!
If the car already has a CD-changer plugged into the jack, the AUX Link adapter
can be connected in parallel through the splitter (Parallel Harness or MP3/CDC
Switch Cable will be provided).
Before using the device connected via AUX cable, you should disconnect your
iPhone, iPod or iPad from the adapter or turn them off, using the keypad. When
you are in AUX playback status, the volume can be adjusted only through the car
stereo.

Control Mode:

Car adapter AUX Link provides two ways to control your iPod, iPhone, iPad: directly
through the device keypad (Hybrid Mode) or through the car stereo (Playlist Mode).
1. Hybrid Mode:
You can control music playback directly from your iPod, iPhone, iPad. You can use
fast forward and reverse, track up and track down buttons on your car stereo to control
music playback. All your audio tracks will be played at the Hybrid Mode. Your iPod,
iPhone or iPad will be controlled and operated as if they were one CD.
2. Playlist Mode:
In the Playlist Mode, your iPod, iPhone, iPad are operated and controlled as if they
were a CD changer. Being in this mode you can get access to up to 9 playlists on your
device from the car stereo. On the device screen you will see "OK to disconnect" or
"Attached to accessory" and the device keypad will be locked or not functional. To be
able to use this Mode correctly, you have to use iTunes to set up corresponding
playlists on your iPod, iPhone, iPad (you can find this information in the relevant iPod,
iPhone, iPad usage instructions).
You can switch between the Hybrid Mode and the Playlist Mode by pressing CD
selection button on the OEM car stereo panel. Generally, DISC 1 is for the Hybrid
Mode, and DISC 2-DISC 10 are for No.1-No.9 playlists of the Playlist Mode.
Important:
In the Hybrid Mode, CD1 1-1 will be displayed on the screen of the stereo. The
playback time will show the total playback time instead of single song's playback
time.
In the Hybrid Mode, Rewind and Fast Forward functions can be activated after a
long press. If you give a short press to Rewind and Fast Forward, it will switch to
the previous Track/next Track.

6. CONNECTING THE DEVICE AND PLAYING MUSIC (BY THE EXAMPLE OF IPOD)

During the initialization, the screen of the iPod can change continuously for
approximately 25 seconds.
NOTE: When you connect iPhone to the adapter, you may receive a message saying
“This accessory is not made to work with iPhone”. It can also ask you whether you want
to “Turn on the Airplane Mode. Make sure to answer “NO”.
6.2 SELECTING IPOD MODE ON THE CAR STEREO
Press the CD (or Disc/Mode/CDC/SOURCE/AUX) button on radio repeatedly until "CD
x-x" appears on the radio display (x stands for the track number of "Now Playing" song
on iPod), which proves that iPod mode has been completely synchronized and
activated. The time necessary for synchronization varies depending on the number of
playlists that you have on your device. If you change source to AM/FM, CD, Cassette or
any other source, the iPod will pause automatically.
6.3 DISCONNECTING IPOD FROM THE INTERFACE
If you disconnect your iPod while being in iPod mode, the car stereo will automatically
switch to AM/FM mode. When you disconnect the iPod from adapter, its screen
changes back to the normal menu. To get the normal menu back faster, it is
recommended to press and hold the Play/Pause button.
6.4 PLAYBACK OF MUSIC ON IPOD
The audio tracks on the iPod will be played at disc 1 and the order of tracks will be
determined by the default order on the iPod. To choose one of the nine playlists on the
iPod, you should select from disc 2 to disc 10 on the car stereo.
