System Architecture 2.
ControlSwitch (CS) is composed of mandatory elements, advanced (optional) elements, and
communications resources. They are managed by the ControlSwitch Element Management System
(EMS). This chapter provides information on the advanced CS elements architecture:
The following figure depicts the advanced CS elements
Media Resource Controllers (MRC). MRC enables the control of the transcoding, and border
gateways via the BGC processes.
Event Relay Servers (ERS). ERS retrieves the Event Collectors' (EC) collected events, converts
them to XML, filters the events according the client's required criteria, and sends them to the
client/s monitoring applications.
Data Collection Agents (DCA). DCA (also referred to as QoS Server), correlates the events from
the ERS, creates QoS metrics, and sends them to the PE for decision making, and sends
statistical information to the EMS.
Application Gateways (AG). AG consists of the elements below:
LNP Signaling Gateway (LSG). LSG allows access to SIP/ENUM based servers that host
the LNP (Local Number Portability) information.
Routing Signaling Gateway (RSG). RSG is a SIP-based component, which interacts with
external routing servers, for prepaid services.
Directory Services Engine (DSE). DSE provides directory services to the CS. Phone ranges and
translation tables can be removed from the EMS database to the DSE that acts as a SCP.
Interconnection Border Control Function IBCF Border Gateway Controller (BGC). BGC is the
controller component of the Dialogic Security Solution, which controls the Border Gateway
(BGW) element, via H.248.
This document also includes the following definitions and settings:
ControlSwitch (v.5.11.1) Advanced Elements and Services User’s Manual
Dialogic Inc. Proprietary Page 14
Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP). SCCP is a connection oriented network layer protocol
that provides extended routing, flow control, segmentation, and error correction capabilities in
SS7 networks.
Transaction Capabilities Application Part Signaling Element (TCAPSE). TCAPSE handles the TCAP
services in the CS. It is a process, located in SSE, which performs TCAP encoding/decoding, and
bridges between CCE and SSE.
This document details also the transcoding and the border gateways, and the Services tab functions and
settings.

Provisioning Guidelines 3.
3.1 Remote Services Configuration
For all CS remote services configuration, the following steps should be considered:
Configure how to provide the service (Local and remote gateways configuration)
Configure when to execute the service (in which state of the call, and for which trunk group)
How:
1. Configure the CS Local gateway that interfaces with the remote service (such as RSG, LSG, and
TCAPSE)
2. Define the remote service node that for the service queries (such as SIP routing server, SIP LNP
server, ENUM LNP server, and SCP)
3. Associate the remote server to a local gateway (several gateways can be associate with one
remote server for load balancing or high availability
4. Associate the remote server with service
5. Configure the service list (list of services of the same type, for example SIP-LNP, ENUM-LNP,
INAP-LNP), used to enable the service in different methods, providing priority settings, and
high availability.
When:
1. Configure the service trigger (see Services for architecture, and ControlSwitch Policies and
Routing User’s Manual, section Service Trigger for configuration guidelines), by defining what
service to activate at each DP (trigger) during the call. This includes the following entities:
Plan Group. List of plans (DPs/states).
Plans (DPs). Each plan defines the behavior in a specific DP (e.g. Origination attempt),
according to the associated policies. List of DPs are: Route Select Failure, Originating
Attempt, Origination Answer, Off hook Delay, and Specific Digit String
Policies, Rules (trigger - in which condition (if/else) to activate the policy) and
treatments (What to do if the rule is TRUE)
Service Trigger. Which service (e.g. LNP, Black list) trigger to activate (not all
services can be activate on all DP), see ControlSwitch Policies and Routing User’s
Manual, section Service Trigger.
Service List. Select a service list that can support this trigger
2. Associate a trunk group with a plan group (see ControlSwitch Elements and Resources User’s
Manual, section Trunk Groups, Services).

Note:
For setting both SIP LNP and SIP Routing, follow one of the below options:
1 - Define sibling treatments for the same policy, the first: LNP and the second: the remote sip routing.
2 - Define two policies and configure the “Collect across policies” parameter to TRUE.

Routing and LNP, this parameter is set to determine the SEE's behavior.
3.2 Announcements Configuration
The announcements can be used in regular calls, upon failure, or in services such as pin-based services),
and are played by dedicated media servers (Dialogic or third party) or media gateways (i.e. I-Gate 4000
Pro).
To Configure an announcement, follow the below steps:
1. Add an announcement to a media gateway.
2. Create an APB (XML file):
Login to the EMS as ics user.
Go to /export/home/ics/services directory.
Include the announcement file (on the gateway) in the XML file.
Parse the APB, to create the .service file, using the command: ./parseservice <APB
filename>.xml.
3. Create an Announcement in the EMS (see ControlSwitch Policies and Routing User’s Manual,
Creating an Announcement section).
4. Add an APB (see ControlSwitch Policies and Routing User’s Manual, Adding APB section).
