ating instructions are part of this product. They contain important
information about safety, usage, and disposal. Before using the

pliance. This appliance complies with statutory safety regulations.
Improper use may result in personal injury and property damage.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.
2. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs
or the appliance in water or other liquids.
3. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used
by or near children.
4. Children must not play with the appliance.
5. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use, before
attaching or removing parts, and before cleaning.
Allow the appliance to cool and unplug it before attaching or

Important cord information
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To
reduce the risk of electric shock, there is only one way this plug is intend-
ed to fit into a polarized outlet. If the plug does not completely fit into the
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is provid-
ed to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over
a longer cord.
b)
Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available
and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord
or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical
rating of the appliance;
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should
be a grounding-type 3-wire cord; and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over

Disconnect the appliance from the power supply, ...
when the appliance is unsupervised,
when you clean the appliance,
when you are assembling it or taking it apart,
when you change accessories.
Arrange for defective power plugs and/or power cords to be replaced
as soon as possible by a qualified technician or by our customer service
department to avoid the risk of injury.
Risk of fire or electric shock. Do not remove the cover from the bottom of
the appliance. No user serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done by
authorized personnel only.
Risk of burns! Some parts of the appliance get very hot during use!
The appliance emits hot steam during operation. Be careful not to scald
yourself! Keep a sufficient distance from the steam.
The surface of the heating unit retains residual heat after use.
Be careful when handling the sharp cutting blades of the grinder, while
emptying the coffee bean container, and during cleaning.
Be careful while handling the grinder of the appliance. Never attempt to
insert fingers or objects into the grinder! If you experience any problems,
please contact customer service.
MATERIAL DAMAGE!
Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement
parts. Only using original replacement parts can ensure that they meet the
safety requirements.
Protect the appliance from moisture, impact, dust, chemicals, major fluctua-
tions in temperature, and heat sources that are
too close to the appliance (ovens, heaters).
Disconnect the power plug from the socket whenever you are
not using the appliance, but never pull the power cord itself.
Do not use an external timer or separate remote control system to operate
the appliance.

This appliance is intended exclusively for preparing coffee at
home. It is intended for use in private households only. Do not use
it for commercial purposes.
Any use other than the intended use is considered to be improper.

and/or other types of use.
Use the appliance exclusively for its intended purposes.
Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions.
Claims of any kind for damage resulting from improper use,
incompetent repairs, unauthorized modifications, or the use of

Unpacking
RISK OF SUFFOCATION!
Packaging materials are not children’s toys. There is a risk of
suffocation!
1) Remove all parts of the appliance and these operating instruc-
tions from the box.
2) Remove all packaging material.
3) Before you use the appliance, make sure it is not damaged.
Also check the power cord, power plug, and all accessories
and appliance parts.
4) Clean all parts of the appliance as described in the "Cleaning"
section.
Check the package for completeness and signs of visible dam-
age. If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred as
a result of defective packaging or during transport, contact the
customer service hotline (see 3 year limited warranty section).
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance from damage during transport.
The packaging materials have been selected for their environmental
friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable.
The recirculation of packaging into the material cycle conserves
raw materials and reduces the amount of generated waste.
Dispose of packaging materials that are no longer needed in
accordance with applicable local regulations.
If possible, keep the appliance’s original packaging during the
warranty period so that the appliance can be packed properly
for return shipment in the event of a warranty claim.

Setup and connection
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
Once you have cleaned all the parts as described under
"Cleaning", set up the appliance in such a way that ...
the power plug is quickly accessible to unplug it from the
power outlet in case of danger.
the power cord does not stick out into your workspace so it
cannot accidentally be pulled on and cause the appliance
to tip over.
Never place the appliance near water. Only use the appliance
on a dry surface. Proximity to water constitutes a risk even when
the appliance is turned off. Pull the power plug after each use.
MATERIAL DAMAGE!
Never place the appliance near sources of heat.
Only use the appliance on level, heat-resistant surfaces to avoid
damage to the appliance and the surface.
1) Place the appliance on a level, heat-resistant surface.
2) Insert the coffee pot r into the appliance.
3) Insert the power plug into the power socket. You will hear a
beep, the buttons 8, 9 and the LED zwill briefly
light up blue and the button 0will permanently light up
blue.

Before first use
MATERIAL DAMAGE!
Never fill more than 10 cups of water into the water tank 6
(MAX marker). When running the appliance with water only,
e.g. before first use or to clean it, do not exceed the 8-cups
mark on the fill level indicator 7!
Never pour less than 2 cups of water into the water tank 6.
Pay attention to the fill level indicator 7 on the water tank 6.
1) Thoroughly rinse the coffee pot r with water and insert it into
the appliance.
2) Open the filter basket holder t by pulling the handle on the
right side of the appliance forward. Remove the attachment
p, thepermanent filter oand the filter basket i from the
appliance.
3) Rinse the filter basket i, thepermanent filter oand the
attachment p with clear water. Insert all parts back into the
appliance and close the filter basket holder t by pushing it
back until it clicks into place.
4) Remove the water tank 6. To do so, first open the lid of the
water tank 5and pull the water tank 6upward. Rinse it with
clear water.
5) Fill the water tank 6with 8 cups of water and insert it back
into the appliance.
6) Connect the power plug to a power socket.
7) Press the button 9 to turn off the grinder. The button 9
lights up.
8) Press the button 0. The LED zlights up and the button 0
starts flashing. Wait until the brewing process has completed.
You will hear a beep and the button 0will stop flashing.
Press the button 0again to stop the "keep-warm" function.
9) Empty the coffee pot r and rinse it with clear water once
again.
10) Wait until the appliance has cooled down, then rinse the filter
basket i with clear water again.
The appliance is now ready for operation, and the button 0
lights up permanently.

Brewing coffee using the grinding function
Adding coffee beans to the appliance
1) Open the lid of the coffee bean container 2and add coffee
beans. Do not fill it past the MAX marking on the coffee bean
container 2.
2) Close the lid of the coffee bean container 2again.
3) Select a grind size for the coffee beans: Turn the rotary dial
1
counter-clockwise for coarse grinding or clockwise for fine
grinding (Fig. 1). The finer you grind the coffee beans, the
stronger the coffee will be.

4) Open the filter basket holder t and remove the attachment p
from the filter basket i.
5) If necessary, insert the permanent filter ointo the filter basket
i. Make sure that the permanent filter o is positioned cor-
rectly in the filter basket i.
6) Return the attachment pto the filter basket i and close the
filter basket holder t.

Filling the appliance with water
RISK OF INJURY!
Always use drinking water to prepare your coffee!
1) Open the lid of the water tank 5and fill the water tank 6
with water. You can use the coffee pot r to fill in the water
or fill the water tank 6directly by detaching it as described
under "Before first use". Use an appropriate volume of water
for the amount of filter coffee you wish to prepare. The fill level
indicator 7 on the water tank 6 is a useful guide. Close the
lid of the water tank 5again.
2) Return the coffee pot r to the appliance.

Starting the brewing process
RISK OF SCALDING!
The steam outlet 3 of the water tank 6 emits hot steam! There
is a risk of scalding!
Never open the filter basket holder t during the brewing pro-
cess! Hot steam may escape or hot water may splash. There is
a risk of scalding!
RISK OF BURNS!
Once the brewing process is finished, the hot plate w underneath
the coffee pot r heats up to a high temperature to keep your
coffee hot. There is a risk of burns!
1) Use therotary knob u to specify how many cups of coffee
you would like to make. Make sure that there is enough water
in the water tank 6.
Pressing the button 8will cause more coffee to be ground
and result in stronger coffee. The button 8lights up when
activated.
2) Press the button 0. The appliance initiates the grinding and
brewing process, the LED zlights up, and the button 0
flashes.
3) You will hear a beep when the coffee is finished brewing.
The button 0stops flashing.
You can interrupt the brewing process at any time by pressing the
button 0.
4) The hot plate wunderneath the coffee pot rkeeps your
coffee hot until you press the button 0again.
After 35 minutes, the appliance automatically switches to standby
mode. Press the button 0 to reactivate the appliance.

Brewing coffee using ground coffee
Adding ground coffee to the appliance
1) Open the filter basket holder t and remove the attachment p
from the filter basket i.
2) If necessary, insert the permanent filter ointo the filter basket
i. Make sure that the permanent filter o is positioned cor-
rectly in the filter basket i.
3) Use the measuring spoon eto add the ground coffee.
4) Close the filter basket holder t.
For each cup of filter coffee you wish to make, add approxi-
mately one level measuring spoon e of ground coffee. If you
prefer weaker coffee, reduce the amount of ground coffee per
cup.
The attachment p is not required for the brewing process with
ground coffee.
