2.5 Ports
2.5.1 RJ-45 ports
The EL-1000-4GM features eight RJ-45 ports, depending on the design, each with transfer rates of 10
mbps , 100 mbps or 1000 mbps. The ports detect the data rate automatically. Sending and receiving
lines are crossed appropriately via MDI/MDI-X auto-crossover so that connections are able to be
established with other devices, independent of the cable type used (1:1 or crossed).
2.5.2 Optical ports
The EL-1000-4GM is equipped with up to two 1000Base-FX ports, depending on the design.
Depending on the variation ordered, the LWL ports may have SFP slots or SC- plug connectors and
be suitable for different fiber types (multi-mode, single-mode).
Please make sure that the transceivers of the EL-1000-4GM are always connected with transceivers
of other devices that are suitable for the same wavelength and the same fiber type.
With the exception of Bidi transceivers, which cannot send and receive simultaneously via one fiber,
the transmitters of a device must always be connected with the receiver of the opposite device and
vice-versa.
2.5.3 Wiring
Use twisted-pair cable of category 5 or better to connect the RJ-45 ports. The electrical
connection cable between the switch and the connection partner (switch, hub, workstation,
etc.) may not be longer than 100 meters. Use metal shielded connectors on the cables.
Connect the multi-mode transceiver with 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm multi-mode optical fiber
cables.
Connect the single-mode transceiver with 9/125 µm single-mode optical fiber cables.
2.5.4 Voltage supply connection
Connect the supply voltage to VDC1 and GND clamping terminals. The redundant supply voltage may
now be connected to the VDC2 and GND clamping terminals. The terminal block for the voltage supply
is clamping and can be locked using two screws. Both voltage inputs feature reverse voltage
protection.
The permissible range for the input voltage is between 12 VDC and 60 VDC. The voltage must be
