The lightning flash with arrow-head symbol within an equilateral triangle
is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous
voltage” within the unit’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude
to constitute a risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert
the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance
(servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the unit.

iMPorTanT safeTY insTrUcTions
All of the safety and operating instructions should be read, adhered to and followed
before the unit is operated.
1. Read these instructions.
2. Keep these instructions.
3. Heed all warnings.
4. Follow all instructions.
5. Do not use this apparatus near water.
6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves,
or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug.
A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-
type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the
third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into
your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs,
convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

1. The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects
filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on apparatus.
2. The main plug is used to disconnect the device if you do not want the unit
to remain readily operable. In order to disconnect the apparatus from the
main plug, it should be pulled from the socket completely.
3. Battery should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine,
fire or the like.

periods of time.

• Dispose of old batteries properly. Do not dispose of old batteries
in a fire.
• Do not leave batteries where a child or pet could play with or
swallow them. If a battery is swallowed, contact a physician immediately.
• The battery may explode if mistreated. Do not attempt to recharge
or disassemble.
• Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Do not mix old
and new batteries, different types of batteries, or rechargeable batteries
of different capacities.

baTTerY insTallaTion
The Speakers sound may distort, or the speaker may turn off all together,
if the battery power is low. If this happens, simply replace the battery.
1. Open the BATTERY COMPARTMENT cover located on the back of
the speaker by pushing in the TAB LOCK and removing (see illustration below).
2. Insert four AA batteries according to the polarity indicators inside
the compartment.
3. Replace the BATTERY COMPARTMENT cover.
CONNECTING THE MAIN UNIT TO POWER
1. Insert the included adapter’s DC output plug into the DC IN jack
on the back of the unit.
2. Plug the adapter into an electrical outlet.

basic oPeraTion
DOCKING YOUR iPad
1. Pull the SUPPORT TAB out to secure the SUPPORT FRAME.
2. Slide your iPad down between the edges of the iPad SUPPORT FRAME
and plug the 30-PIN CONNECTOR into your device.
TURNING THE UNIT ON AND OFF
1. Press the POWER/SELECT button to turn the unit on.
2. To turn the unit off, press and hold the POWER/SELECT button.
USING MODE
Press the POWER/SELECT button to select between iPad Mode and AUX Mode.
ADJUSTING THE VOLUME
Press the VOLUME — or + button on the remote control or on the unit to adjust
the volume to the desired level.

USING WITH YOUR iPad, iPod
®
OR iPhone
®
This unit can support various models of iPod/iPhone or iPad with 30-pin dock
connectors. It can also act as a battery charger for your iPod/iPhone or iPad when
connected via the dock connector and the unit is powered on and powered by an
electrical outlet. It will NOT charge your device if the unit is running on batteries alone.
1. Press the POWER/SELECT button to power on the unit.
2. Press the POWER/SELECT button again to select the iPad function.
Note: When the unit is in the iPad function the STATUS LED illuminates
steadily. When it’s in the AUX function the STATUS LED blinks.
3. Select your choice and play the connected iPad via your iPad controls as usual.
4. Press the VOLUME – or + button on the back of the unit to adjust the volume
level as desired.
IMPORTANT: The volume level cannot be adjusted by the iPad controls
when the iPad is connected to the unit.
5. Press and hold the POWER/SELECT button to turn the unit off.
LISTENING TO AN EXTERNAL AUDIO SOURCE
1. Connect the Audio Output jacks of your auxiliary sound source (for example: TV,
VCR, DVD Player, MP3 player, Cassette Deck, Mini Disc player) to the AUX-IN
socket on the back panel of the unit. The auxiliary function will only be supported
when the AUX IN jack has a suitable sound source connected via an AUX-IN
cable (not included). The auxiliary function will only activate when the AUX-IN
cable is connected.

2. Press the POWER/SELECT button on the unit.
3. Press the POWER/SELECT button again to select the AUX function.
4. Turn your auxiliary source on and operate it as usual. The sound from
the auxiliary source will be heard through the speakers of this system.
5. Press the VOLUME — or + to adjust the volume level.
Note: If you are connected to the headphone jack on the external device,
you may need to adjust both the unit’s volume AND the external device’s
volume to reach the desired sound level.

For horizontal placement, pull out the STAND from the SUPPORT FRAME to hold
the unit securely on its side.

reseTTing The UniT
If the system does not respond it may need to be reset. Disconnect the unit from
the electrical outlet, wait a few seconds, and reconnect.
Use a thin, rounded object, such as a paperclip or toothpick, to press the RESET
button on the back of the unit (see illustration below). This will clear the system
memory and reset the unit.
IMPORTANT: Do not use a sharp object to press the RESET button.
This may damage the RESET switch inside the unit.

• If the unit becomes dusty, wipe it with a soft and dry duster.
• Use a soft, clean cloth to clean the unit.
Do not use any wax, polish sprays, or abrasive cleaners on the unit.

warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship
under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase by the
original purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received
within the Warranty Period, at its option, Brookstone will either 1) repair the defect
at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or 2) replace the product
with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or
3) provide a store credit in the amount of the purchase price of the original product.
A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part installed in accordance
with instructions provided by Brookstone, assumes the remaining warranty of the
original product. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes
your property and the replaced item becomes Brookstone’s property. When a store
credit is given, the original product must be returned to Brookstone and becomes
Brookstone’s property.
Obtaining Service: To obtain warranty service, call Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at
1-800-292-9819. Please be prepared to describe the product that needs service and
the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements
must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability and response times
will vary. You are responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any
parts to the authorized service center for replacement, per our instructions.
Limits and Exclusions: Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United
States of America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of
Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This Limited Warranty applies only
to products manufactured for Brookstone that can be identified by the Brookstone”
trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them or their packaging. The Limited
Warranty does not apply to any non-Brookstone products. Manufacturers or
suppliers other than Brookstone may provide their own warranties to the purchaser,

but Brookstone, in so far as permitted by law, provides these products “as is.
This warranty does not apply to: a) damage caused by failure to follow instructions
relating to product’s use or the installation of components; b) damage caused by
accident, abuse, misuse, fire, floods, earthquake or other external causes; c) damage
caused by service performed by anyone who is not a representative of Brookstone;
d) accessories used in conjunction with a covered product; e) a product or part
that has been modified to alter functionality or capability; f) items intended to be
periodically replaced by the purchaser during the normal life of the product including,
without limitation, batteries or light bulbs; g) any product sold “as is” including, without
limitation, floor demonstration models and refurbished items; or h) a product that is
used commercially or for a commercial purpose.
BROOKSTONE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT, OR ARISING
OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY
APPLICABLE LAW, BROOKSTONE DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL STATUTORY OR
IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES
OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND
WARRANTIES AGAINST HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS. IF BROOKSTONE
CANNOT LAWFULLY DISCLAIM STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, THEN
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALL SUCH WARRANTIES SHALL BE
LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THIS EXPRESS WARRANTY.
Some states disallow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential
damages or how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above exclusions or limitations
may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also
