Itisimportanttonotethat theashcontentofthefuelandfrequencyofoperationwilldeterminethefrequencyof
whichyouwillberequiredtocleanyourPelletStove.Ahighashfuelmayresultindailycleaning,whilealowash
contentfuelmayresultinless
frequentcleaning.
Occasionallyimpuritiesinthefuel willcauseahardmassbuildupintheburnpotofyourPelletStove.Impurities
suchassilicacanvirtuallyformlittleglassballswhensubjectedtothehighheatgeneratedintheburnpot.When
allowedtocollect,ahardbass
buildupmayblockairflowthroughtheburnpot,whichwillsignificantlyaffectthe
performanceandefficiencyofyourPelletStove.Itisagoodideatochecktheburnpotforanyhardmassbuildup
orotherblockageonadailybasis,andifnecessarylettheburn
potcoolandthencleantheburnpot.

Be sure to read the entire owner’s manual prior to installing and operating this Pellet heater.Failure to follow

This stove’s exhaust system works with negative combustion chamber pressure and a slight positive chimney
pressure, it is extremely
important to ensure that the exhaust system be sealed and airtight. The ash pan and
viewingdoormustbesecurelyfastenedinorderfortheunittobeairtight.ThisPelletheaterwillnotoperateusing
naturaldraftorwithoutapowersourcefortheblowers.
Theuseofgrates
orothermethodsofsupportingthefuelisnotpermitted.
ThisPelletheaterisdesigned toburnpelletwoodfuelonly.Do notuseanyothertypeoffuel;doingsowillvoid
anywarrantiesstatedinthismanual.
THEUSEOFSOLIDWOODFUELISPROHIBTEDBYLAW.
ThisPelletheaterisdesignedforresidentialinstallationaccordingtocurrentnationalandlocalbuildingcodes.Itis
also approved as a mobile home heater which is designed for connection to an outside combustion air source.
WheninstallingaPelletStoveinamobilehome,itmustbeelectricallygroundedto
thesteelchassisofthehome
andboltedtothefloor.Makesurethatstructuralintegrityofthehomeismaintained.
Makesurethatstructuralintegrityofthehom eismaintainedwhenpassingventpipesthroughwalls,ceilingsand
roofs
Itisrecommendedthattheexhaustventbecleanedbi
annuallyoraftereverytwotonsofpellets.
Soot or creosote may accumulate when the pellet heater is operated under incorrect conditions such as an
extremelyrichburn(blacktippedlazyorangeflames).Donotoperatethestoveiftheflamebecomesdarkorsooty
oriftheburnpotoverfills
withpellets.Turnthestoveoffandcallyourdealer.
Thegroundedelectricalcordmustbeconnectedtoastandard120volt,60hertzelectricaloutlet.Ensurethatthe
electricalcordisnottrappedundertheapplianceandthatitisclearofanyhotsurfacesorsharpedges.
The
ashpanandviewingdoormustbelockedsecurelyforproperandsafeoperation.
DONOTPLACEUNBURNEDORNEWPELLETFUELINTHEASHPAN.Afireintheashpanmayoccur.
Donotoperateyourpelletheaterifyousmellsmokecomingfromit.Turnitoff,monitor
itandcallyourdealer.
RepairandservicingofyourU.S.StovePelletBurningRoomHeatermayonlybedonebyaqualifiedtechnician.
Disconnectthepowercordbeforeperforminganymaintenanceorrepair.
NOTE:TurningthePelletStoveRoomHeaterto"off"doesnotdisconnectpowerfromtheunit.
ThePelletStoveRoomHeaterwillnotoperateduringa poweroutage,ifapoweroutageortripped circuitoccurs,
checkforsmokespillageandopenwindowsordoorstoventilateasnecessary.

whichcanbeassistedbytheinstallationofoutsidecombustionairinlets.However,certainweatherconditions
suchasicingoruseofkitchenexhaustfansmayimpactandreducetheeffectivenessofvents.
Itisimportantto
notethatroomairstarvationwellnegativelyimpacttheoperationoftheheater.
Ifpoweroutageswithbatterybackuporroomairstarvationoccursduringoperationofheater,smokeinthe
housemayresult.Thismaytriggersmokedetectorsiftheyareinstalled.

CheckandFilltheFuelHopperwithPellets:
ThisPelletStoveisavailable asafreestandingunitorasafireplaceinsert.Thereisadifferentmethodforfilling
thehopperforeachtypeofheater:
Tocheckandfillthehopperofthefreestandingheater,simplylift thehopperdoor,visuallycheckthehopper
andaddpellets
whenneeded.
Tocheck andfill thehopper oftheinsertheater,pullhopperlid forward,visually checkthehopperandadd
pelletswhenneeded.
CAUTION:DONOTOVERFILLTHEPELLETFUELHOPPER.ASASAFETYPRECAUTION,AUGERWILLNOT
OPERATEATANYTIMEWHENFUELHOPPERDOORISOPEN.
PrestartCheckup:
Makesurethatallpartsofthe PelletStoveRoomHeater arecoolbeforeproceeding.Removetheburnpotand
cleanoutanyashdebris.Besuretoreinstalltheburnpotinthecorrectposition(seepag e29).
Theblowersandautomaticfuelsupplyarecontrolledfromapanel
locatedontherighthandside ofthestove.
Note:YourPelletStovemayomitanodorasoilresiduefromthemanufacturingprocessburnsoffandthehig h
temperature paint cures. You can minimize this effect by running a smaller fire for the first few hours of
operation.Avoid
placing any items on the stove top during this period as the stove’s paint could be
permanentlydamaged.
LightingInstructions:
ATTENTION: Viewing door must be securely latched to ensure proper stove operation.Push doorhandle
downwarduntillatchisfullyengaged;youwillfeelthelatchengageandhearanaudibleclick.
WhenfirstoperatingyourPelletStove,depresstheMODEbuttonuntiltheLEDindicatoraboveMANUALlightsup.
This
willengageMANUALmodeandprovideyouwithfullcontroloftheheater’scontrolboardfunctionsandallow
youtofamiliarizeyourselfwithhowtheheaterworks.TheheatlevelforTSTATmodecanonlybesetwhenthe
controlisintheManualMode.
StartingUpThePelletStoveRoomHeater:
WheneverOperatingthePelletStovefor FirstTime, orifThe Stove RunsOutOf Pellets,it isNecessary toPrime
the Augerwith PelletFuel.Todo this,Press andHoldtheAUGERButtonfor Approximately3Secondsuntil the
AUGERLEDilluminates.ThisProcedurewillprimetheAugerand
thenAutomaticallyInitiatetheNormalIgnition
Cycle.
CAUTION: Donot use thisprocedure for normal startup.To do so wouldcause excessivefuel buildup in the
burnpot.
For normal startup with pellets fuel in the auger, press and release the On/ Off button. The LED indicator light
above the
On/Off button willalternately flash green then redtoindicate that the startupcycle has begun. The
lightabovetheAugerbuttonwillflashintermittentlytoindicatetheactivationoftheaugerfeedingthepelletsinto
theburnpot.Theelectricigniterwillalsobeactivatedatthistime.The
ignitertakesafewminutestocomeupto
temperatureinordertoignitethepelletsintheburnpot.Itwillnormallytakebetween4minutesand8minutes
forpelletstoignite.
NOTE:If pelletsdonotignitewithin12minutestheheaterwillshutdown,requiringyou
toturnontheheater
andrepeatthestartupprocess.

When the pellets have ignited andflame has been established, the startupcycle will end; this procedure takes
between8and12minutes.IfthecontrolissettoManualMode,itwillnowdefaulttotheheatlevelsettingthe
lastshutdowntime.Ifthecontrolisset
toTSTATModetheheatoutputwillcoincidetothecom mandsfromthe
thermostat.
Auger:
As explained in the starting up step, this button is only served to start up the pellet stove in lieu of the on/off
buttonwhentherearenopelletsintheauger.
CirculationAirFlow:
YourPelletStoveRoomHeaterfeaturescirculationairflowwhichwillchangeinaccordancewiththeheatsetting.
Circulationairflowwillbeatitsmaximumsettingwhentheheatsettingisalsoatmaximumandsubsequentlywill
beatitsminimumsettingwhentheheatsettingisatminimum.If
youdesiretooperatethecirculationfanatits
maximumsettingregardlessofheatsetting,youmaydosobypressingtheFANbutton.
AugerTrim:
Whenoperat ing atHeatLevel1, iftheflame goesoutortheheatoutputistoohigh onthe minimumheatlevel
setting,usetheAUGERTRIMbuttontomakeadjustments.SeetheAUGERTRIMbuttondescriptiononpage11.
ShuttingDownYourPelletStoveRoomHeater:
Turn off the heater by pressing the On/Off button. The stove will enter the shutdown cycle and the pellets will
stop feeding into the burn pot to allow the fuel in the burn pot to be combusted and consumed. During this
period,theexhaustblowerandcirculationfanwillcontinueto
operateuntiltheflamesareoutandtheheaterhas
cooleddown.Whentheheaterhascooleddowntoitspresetlevel,itwillshutdowncompletely.
CAUTION: NEVER TURN OFF THE HEATER BY UNPLUGGING OR DISCONNECTING ITS ELECTRICAL POWER
SOURCE. DOING SO WILL CAUSETHE HEATER TO SKIPTHE PROPER SHUTDOWN CYCLE,CAUSING THE HEATER
TOOVERHEATANDTHEPOSSIBLERELEASEOFSMOKEINTOTHEHOUSE.

ControlBoardFunctions:

MODE Button:
The MODE button allows you to switch operating mode on
yourPelletStoveRoomHeater.DepresstheMODEbuttonto switchbetween
Manual and TSTAT modes.As you depress the MODE button the indicator
lightabovethedesiredmodewillengage.WhenyouengagetheManualmode,
you will be
able to manually select the heat settings.If you have installed a
remote thermostat for your Pellet Stove Room Heater and wish to have the
heater controlled by that thermostat, depress the MODE button to engage T
STAT mode.The thermostat will control the heat output of the Heate r
alternating
between the lowest heatlevel and the highest heat level thatyou
havepreselected.
TheTSTATmodeprovid esthemostevenheatoutput,forbettercomfort,and
toextendthelife ofthepelletfuel ignitionsystem.Additionally,the constant
flame serves as a warning for people and pets to keep away from the heater
whileitisinoperation.
ON/OFF Button:
The ON/OFF button is used to turn the heater on and off.
Whenever there is power to the heater, the LED indicator light above the
ON/OFF button will be solid red.If the heater is cold prior to startup, press
and release the ON/OFF button. The LED light above
the ON/OFF button will
alternately flash red and green to indicate the startup cycle has started. Fuel
pelletswillstarttofeedintotheburnpotandthepelletfuelignitionsystemwill
be activated.Flames in the burn pot will normally appear between 4‐8
minutes,andoncetheflame
hasbeenestablished,thestartup cyclewillend,thistakesbetween812minutes.At
this point the LED indicator light above the ON/OFF button will glow solid green. The user will now be able to
makeheatleveladjustments.
HEAT LEVEL Button:
Depress the HEATLEVEL button to advance the heatlevel byonelevel until you reach the
maximum setting; from the maximum level you will decrease one level each time you depress the HEAT LEVEL
button. The circulation fan speed will also increase with the heat level setting. Wait until
the startup cycle is
complete andtheON/OFF LED is solidgreento set HeatLevel.(The HEATLEVEL LEDsare alsousedas codes to
indicateamalfunction,pleaserefertothe
SafetyFeaturesandwarningcodessectionformoreinformation.)
FAN Button:
Depressing the FAN button will set the circulation fan speed to high, overriding the automatic fan
speed control.The onboard logic will modulate the fan speed in accordance with the heat level setting. It is
recommendedthatyouallowthecontroltoautomaticallysetandadjustthespeedofthe
fantoobtainoptimum
efficiencyandminimalfannoise.
AUGER Button:
Whenever Operating the Pellet Stove for First Time, or if The Stove Runs Out Of Pellets, it is
NecessarytoPrimetheAugerwithPelletFuel.Todothis,PressandHoldtheAUGERButtonforApproximately3
SecondsuntiltheAUGERLEDill uminates.ThisProcedurewillprimetheAuger
andthenAutomatically Initiatethe
NormalIgnitionCycle.NOTICE:Do notusethisprocedurefornormalstartup.Todo sowouldcauseexcessive
fuelbuildupintheburnpot.
AUGER TRIM Button
: This Button is only enabled when operating at Heat Level 1. Depress the AUGER TRIM
Buttontochange theAugerfeed rateon theminimumheatlevel;toaccountforthequalityofpellet fuelbeing

theAugerfeedratewillhelpkeeptheflamesfromextinguishingontheminimumheatlevelsetting.Youcanalso
usetheAUGERTRIMbuttontolowerheatoutputontheminimu mheatlevelsetting:
Depress and release the AUGER TRIM button until the heat level 1 and 5
setting lights appear to slightly
increasethefeedrateontheminimumheatlevel.
Depress and release the AUGER TRIM button until the heat level 1 and 4 setting lights appear to slightly
reduce the pellet feed rate on the minimum heat level setting.Use this setting to reduce the
heat level
outputonlow.
DepressandreleasetheAUGERTRIMbuttonuntilonlytheheatlevel1settinglight ison, thisisthefactory
settingandworksformosttypesoffuel.
Open Door:During normal operation the heater will automatically shut off if the viewing door is opened for
morethan30seconds.Thisactioncausestheheatertogointovacuumerrormode.Toclearthiserrorandrestart
theheater,closethedoor,depresstheON/OFFbuttonandthenfollowdirectionsfor
restartingheater.
RefillingtheFuelHopper:Formaximumperformancedonotletthepelletfuelhopperdropbelow1/4f ull.
Fuel Hopper Lid Safety Switch:When the Fuel Hopper Lid is opened the auger will stop turning to prevent
accidentalinjury.

KEEPPELLETFUELHOPPERLIDCLOSEDATALLTIMESEXCEPTWHENREFILLING.DONOTOVERFILLHOPPER.
SafetyFeaturesandwarningcode:
1. Yourheater isequipped witha temperature “highlimit”switch, designedto shutdown theauger incaseof
anovertemperaturesituation.Thehighlimitswitchisathermosnapdisctypeandmustbemanuallyreset
intheeventofanoverheatshutdown.Oncetheheater hascooleddown,
youcanreactivatethehighlimit
switchbydepressingthemanualresetbuttonlocatedonthehighlimitswitch.
2. WhentheHighLimitswitchopens,whichindicatesanoverheatfailure,theHEATLEVELLED’s3&4willflash
red.
3. Your heater is equipped with a vacuum switch
that automatically shuts down the auger in the event of a
exhaustfanmalfunction.
4. WhenaVacuumErrorissensed,theHEATLEVELLED’s1&2willflashred.Checktoensuretheglassdooris
latchedproperly.
5. WhentheLowLimitswitchopens,(firewentout)the
HEATLEVELLED’s4&5willflashred.Firstcheckfuel
supply,thenchecktoensureAugerisnotjammedandfinallythatpellethopperdoorisproperlyclosed.
6. WhenthePelletsintheBurnPotfailtoigniteHEATLEVELLED’s1&5willflashred.
NOTE:Intheeventthatthehighlimitswitchorvacuumswitchactivates,pleasecontactyourdealertodiscuss
thecauseofthisactivationandtoensurethatyourheatercontinuestooperateinasafemanner.Eitherswitch
trippingcanindicateaproblemwiththeoperationofyourheater.

THERMOSTATINSTALLATION
Optionalthermostatsareavailableforusewithyourpelletstove.Athermostatcanhelpyoumaintainaconstant
roomtemperature.Thethermostatoptionwillrequiretheins tallationofamillivolttypethermostat.
NOTE:Yourthermostatshouldbeinstalledbyanauthorizeddealerorserviceperson.
InstallationofRemoteThermostat:
DisconnectPelletStoveRoomHeaterunitfrompowersupply.
Openrightsidepaneltogainaccesstorearofcontrolpanel.
Stripinsulationfromthermostatwiresandconnecttothescrewterminalontherearofthecontrolpanel(see
Figure4).
If you have installed a remote
thermostat for your pellet stove and wish to have the heater controlled by that
thermostat,depresstheMODEbuttontoengageTSTATmode.Thethermostatwillcontroltheheatoutputofthe
heateralternatingbetweenthelowestheatlevelandthehighestheatlevelthatyouhavepreselected.
TheTSTATmodeprovidesthemostevenheatoutput,forbettercomfort,andtoextendthelifeofthepelletfuel
ignitionsystem.Additionally,theconstantflameservesasawarningfor peopleandpetstokeepawayfromthe
heaterwhileitisinoperation.

WhenyourPelletStoveRoomHeaterisbeinginstalledonacombustibleflooritismandatorythata1/2"
(13mm) thick noncombustible hearth pad be installed under the heater. The noncombustible hearth
padmustextendatleast6”beyondthefuelloadingandashremovalopeningsandatleastthedepthof
theheaterplus6inches(152mm)out infront oftheheater.This appliesto bothfreestandingheaters
andinsertheaters.

INSTALLINGYOURROOMHEATER
Youhavealready madetheimportantdecisionofchoosingyourU.S.StovePelletBurningRoomHeater;
now your next step is to determine where to install your new pellet stove heater. To get the most
efficientuseofrecirculatedheat,youshouldconsideraroomthatiscentrallylocatedwithinyourhome.
Choosearoomthatislargeandopen.
It isExtremely Importanttomaintain proper clearancesfrom any combustible surfacesormaterials in
theroomwhereyourheaterwillbelocated.Youcanfindproperclearancemeasurementsonpage13of
thismanualandontheratinglabelofyourpelletstove.
The pelletstove canbevented through anexteriorwall or into anexistingmasonry or metalchimney.

HORIZONTALEXHAUSTVENTINSTALLATION
1. Locate your pellet stove inalocation which meets therequirementsofthis manual, butinanarea
whereitdoesnotinterferewiththehouseframing,wiring,etc.
2. Installanoncombustiblehearthpadunderneaththepelletstove.Thispadshouldextendatleast6”
(152mm)in
frontoftheunit.
3. Placethepelletstoveapproximately15”(381mm)awayfromtheinteriorwall.
4. Locatethecenteroftheexhaustpipeofyourunit.Thispointshouldthenbeextendedtotheinterior
wallofyour house.Once youhavelocatedthecenterpoint,onthe interior wall,cuta 7” (175mm)
diameterholethroughthewall.
5. Thenextstepistoinstallthe wallthimble,refertotheinstructionswhichcomewiththewallthimble
forthisstep.
6. Install the appropriate length of exhaust vent pipe into the wall thimble. See step 11 when
determiningthecorrectlengthofexhaustventtouse.
7. OutsideFreshAirisMandatorywheninstallingthispelletstoveroomheaterinairtighthomesand
mobilehomes.Besurethattheoutsideairventhasanapprovedcaponittopreventrodentsfrom
entering.Besuretoinstallinlocationthatwon’tbecomeblockedwithsnow,etc.
8. The air intake pipe is equipped with a butterfly valve that is preset to maximum air intake.For
optimum operating efficiency you may calibrate the butterfly valve to provide less intake air. (See
Figure 7)Caution: Too much restriction on the intake air will cause dirtier burn, therefore, will
requiremorefrequentcleaning.
9. Connecttheexhaustventpipetotheexhaustoutletofyourpelletstove.
10. Secure all vent joint connections with 3 screws. Seal the exhaust vent joint connections with high
temperaturesiliconesealant.
11. Push the unit straight back to the interior wall, being sure to maintain the minimum clearances to
combustibles 6” (152mm) to the back of the unit.Seal the annular space of the wall thimble and
aroundtheventpipewithhightemperaturesiliconesealant.
12. Theexhaustventpipemustextendatleast12”(300mm)outpasttheexteriorwall.Sealtheannular
space
ofthewallthimbleandaroundtheventpipewithhightemperaturesiliconesealant.
13. Install an approved horizontal termination cap or if necessary install a 90° elbow and appropriate
lengthofverticalventing.Anapprovedverticalventcapisrecommended.

unit.Lineupthecenterwiththesamespotonyourexteriorwallandcuta21/2”(64mm)diameter
holethroughthewall.
5. Secure all vent joint connections with 3 screws. Seal the exhaust vent joint connections with high
temperaturesiliconesealant.
6. Installthe
combustionairintakepipe.
7. Installatee,withacleanout,ontheexhaustpipefoundattherearofyourunit.
8. Install approved vent upwardthroughthe ceiling. When youpassthroughthe combustible framing
ensure that the appropriate ceiling firestop is used. You must maintain a minimum 3” (75mm)
clearancetocombustiblesandkeepanyinsulationawayfromtheexhaustvent.
9. Extendtheexhaustventthroughtheroofflashingandensurethattheverticalcapisapproximately
36”(900mm)abovetheroof.

thebackof
your unit. Line up the center with the same spot on your exterior wall and cut a 21/2” (64mm)
diameterholethroughthewall.
5. Secure all vent joint connections with 3 screws. Seal the exhaust vent joint connections with high
temperaturesiliconesealant.
6. Locate
thecenteroftheexhaustpipe,atthebackoftheunit.Lineupthecenterwiththesamespot
ontheexteriorwallacuta7”(178mm)diameterholethroughthewall.
7. Installthewallthimble;(refertotheinstructionswhichcomewiththewallthimble).
8. Installanapprovedexhaustventthroughthewall;besuretomakesurethat3”(75mm)clearances
tocombustiblesaremaintained.
9. Secure all vent joint connections with 3 screws. Seal the exhaust vent joint connections with high
temperaturesiliconesealant.
10. Install a Tee with a cleanout on the end of the exhaust pipe and then install approved venting
upwardfromthere.Besuretoinstallsupportbracketsevery5’(1525cm)tokeeptheventingstraight
andsecure.
11. Extendtheexhaustventthroughtheroofflashingandensurethattheverticalcapisapproximately
36”(900mm)abovetheroof.
