withamountflangeoneitherside.Itliesonits

sideinfrontofawindoworcrawlspaceaccesshole.Its

primarypurposeistopreventbackfill,shrubbery,orlandscaping fr omobstructingtheaccess.Youcan

installanAmerimaxHomeProductsready‐madeareawell.Ineithercase,codesusuallyrequirethatthe

areawellbeconnectedto,orserved

by,afoundationdrainunl essitiscoveredwithawaterprooftop.

Preparation

1. Digdowninfrontofthecrawlspaceaccessholeuntilyoureachthetopofthefoundationfooting.

2. Ifyouareplanningonbuildingyourowncoverorinstallingamanufacturedtop,thereisnoneed

to

providefordrainage.Otherwise,followthenextstep.

3. Makesurethatthefoundationdraintravelsunderneaththeareawell.Ifnot,routeperforated

foundationdrainagepipingunderneathit.Bedthepipeproperlyindrainagegravel.

4. Measurethewidthofthecrawlspaceaccesshole.

5. Purchasetheproper

sizeareawell,allowingplentyofroomforinstallingfastenersthroughthe

mountflangesintothefoundationstemwall.

Installation

1. Settheareawellinplaceontopofthefoundationfooting,spacingitevenlyoverthecrawlspace

accesshole.

2. Markthefoundationstemwallwhereyourfastenerswill

go.

3. Removetheareawell.

4. Drillthepropersizeholesinthefoundationstemwallwitharotor‐hammerandbit.

5. Inserttheconcreteancho rs.

6. Installtheareawell,makingsurethattheholesinthemountflangeslineupwiththeconcrete

anchors.

7. Install

theanchorwashersandnutsandtightenthemfirmly.


