PowerRunner mobile power for portable devices is so versatile, you
can use it with any portable device. Simply connect PowerRunner to
your digital camera, video camera, PDA, portable DVD player, CD
player, cell phone, MP3 player, or handheld game to extend the
battery life, or use PowerRunner to charge the battery on the go.
PowerRunner goes where you go ! Clip the handy leather holder to
your belt, or just toss PowerRunner in your briefcase or
backpackit’s that lightweight.

Charging PowerRunner
To charge PowerRunner to its full capacity,
charge the battery as shown here:

1. Plug the travel charger or car charger into the
INPUT jack on the bottom of PowerRunner
(Figure 1) and remove the output cord from the
OUTPUT jack, if connected.
2. Plug the travel charger into the wall outlet, or
the car charger into the 12VDC outlet.
3. After the minimum charging time (shown above),
unplug the charger.
NOTE: As PowerRunner is charging, the
red and green lights on the top of the unit
(Figure 2) will turn on in sequence from left
to right. When PowerRunner is charged to
65% capacity, the third green light turns on.
Continue to charge PowerRunner for an
additional 2 hours.
Using PowerRunner
To use PowerRunner to power and/or charge your portable device,
you must:
Adjust the voltage level to match that of your device
Select an adapter plug to connect the output cord
Adjust the Voltage Level
1. Locate the voltage specification
for your portable device. This
can be found on the device
charger label (Figure 3) or
device specification label
(Figure 4), which is typically
found on the bottom of the unit.
(If available, use the voltage
specification shown on the charger.)
2. Move the voltage selector
(Figure 5) to the voltage stop
that is equal to or one stop larger
than the voltage specification
identified in step 1. For example,
if your device requires 6V, move
the slider to 6. If your device
requires 3.3V, move the slider to
4.5.
It is important to set the voltage
selector NO MORE than one step
higher than the voltage requirement
for the portable device as an incorrect
setting may prevent PowerRunner
from working with your device, or may
harm your device in the rare instance
that the device accepts the higher
voltage. However, for all devices,
adjusting the slider ONLY one step
higher than required will not harm the
device.
Select an Adapter Plug
3. Select and connect the appropriate
adapter plug into the power jack on
your portable device*. The plug should
fit securely.
4. Connect the selected adapter
plug into the open end of the
power output cord exactly as
shown in Figure 6, and connect
the other end of the power
output cord into the OUTPUT
jack (Figure 7) on the end of
PowerRunner.
If your portable device displays a low
voltage/low capacity or double-beep
warning while PowerRunner is
connected, move the slider one
voltage step higher.

5. Turn on the portable device and use it as you would
normally.
or
Leave the portable device turned off and PowerRunner will
charge the device battery.
6. When finished, unplug the power output cord.
NOTE: As PowerRunner charges your device battery, the capacity in
PowerRunner will decrease and each light on PowerRunner will begin to turn off
in sequence from right to left. When PowerRunner is completely out of battery,
the red light will turn off. At this point, you must charge PowerRunner.
For most portable devices, PowerRunner can be used to power the device even
when the device battery is not installed.
*Obtaining Adapters
Five adapter plugs that fit a variety of portable devices are included
with PowerRunner. The list of devices compatible with these plugs is
included on the back of the package. If your portable device jack does
not accept any of the plugs provided in the adapter plug kit, you can
obtain an adapter by contacting Tekkeon at
www.tekkeon.com/pradapters or by phone at 888-787-5888 or 1-
714-832-1266. If available through Tekkeon, the adapter will be sent
to you for a nominal fee.
Troubleshooting
If PowerRunner does not power the portable device or charge the
device battery, take these steps:
1. Verify that the current consumption of the portable device is not
more than 2Amp. If the device consumes more than the maximum
provided by PowerRunner, the device will shut down when
turned on and cannot be powered/charged by PowerRunner.
2. Insert the output cord into the PowerRunner OUTPUT jack to
determine the capacity as shown here:

If you do not have at least 65% capacity remaining (one red and
two green lights on), charge PowerRunner.
3. Check that the output cord is connected to both PowerRunner and
the portable device, and that the adapter plug fits snugly into the
power jack on your portable device. If not, try another adapter.
4. Verify that the polarity of the portable
device’s power jack matches the adapter
plug. In most cases, the polarity is center
positive (Figure 8). If the polarity is center
negative, disconnect the adapter plug from
the output cord and reconnect the plug in
the opposite direction (Figure 9).
5. Check that the output voltage for your portable
device matches or is just below the output
voltage set on PowerRunner. If the output
voltage is not correct, adjust the voltage
selector.
6. Verify that a battery is installed in the portable
device as some devices will not function
without a battery installed.
Limited Warranty
The product enclosed herein is warranted to be free of operational defects for
a period of one year from the date of purchase. In the event of a defect in
operation during the warranty period Tekkeon, Inc. will replace the defective
product when the owner returns all product contents. The limited warranty will
be considered void if the unit is tampered with, subject to misuse, negligence or
accidental damage, has been improperly serviced, or if the security seal is
removed. This warranty is limited to replacement only and shall not cover any
other damages. Any product returned to Tekkeon, Inc. with no fault found will
be returned to the owner at the owner’s expense.
To obtain warranty coverage, please complete and submit the enclosed
PowerRunner registration card.

hardware and any support services related thereto “as is” and with all faults;
and hereby disclaim all warranties and conditions, whether express, implied or
statutory, including, but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability,
fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, lack of negligence or
correspondence to description, except for those warranties specifically and
expressly provided in the Limited Warranty.
With respect to the use of this product, in no event shall the company be liable
for any loss of profit or any other commercial damage, including but not
limited to special, incidental, consequential and other damages.
