Restore the WL-5460/WL-5450AP from a
firmware crash
The WL-5460/WL-5450AP features emergency firmware upgrade function that
can restore your AP from a firmware crashed. If you can’t access your AP
anymore, please first try to restore the setting to default by holding the RESET
button (in the back) for more than 5 seconds. You should be able to find the AP
at 192.168.100.252. If you can’t find it and the status LED stays RED after
power-on for 10 minutes. Then you can try the emergency upgrade method.
Section 1: Restoring AP with Emergency Code Function
1. Connect the Ethernet cable exactly to LAN 1 port of WL-5460/WL-5450AP v2.
Connect the other end of cable DIRECTLY to the PC.
2. Right click on “Network” -> “Properties” -> “Internet protocol (TCP/IP)
properties” on computer.
3. Assign fixed IP of 192.168.1.100/255.255.255.0 scope onto PC.

4. Reboot the WL-5460/WL-5450AP device while pressing and holding the
“Reset” button of WL-5460/WL-5450AP, connect WL-5460/WL-5450AP to its
power supply. Shown as fig 1-3.

Keep holding the Reset button until the red light of the Status LED goes
off. As shown in fig 1-4.

5. Open a browser; type “192.168.1.6” at the URL, the display page is as
graphic below(Fig 2-4)

6. Click the “browse” button, select and open the firmware file for your AP
(download from www.airlive.com support section, do not use the wrong
model firmware)
7. Click on “UPGRADE” button.
8. Wait for 5 minutes for the machine to reboot. The Status LED will go off after
the machine finish rebooting.
9. Assign the IP of PC with the “192.168.100.100/255.255.255.0” subnet
scope.(Fig 2-5)

10. Open a browser, type “192.168.100.252” at the URL, the page shows
WL-5460/WL-5450AP management Web UI. Continue your configuration
once this page appears. (Fig 2-6)
