Sicherheitshinweise
Prüfen Sie vor jedem Start den festen Sitz des Motors und der Luftschrauben - insbesondere nach dem Transport, härteren
Landungen sowie Abstürzen. Prüfen Sie ebenfalls vor jedem Start den festen Sitz und die richtige Position der Tragflächen auf
dem Rumpf.
Akku erst einstecken, wenn Ihr Sender eingeschaltet ist und Sie sicher sind, daß das Bedienelement für die Motorsteuerung auf
"AUS" steht.
Im startbereiten Zustand nicht in den Bereich der Luftschraube greifen.
Vorsicht in der Luftschraubendrehebene - auch Zuschauer zur Seite bitten!
Zwischen den Flügen die Motortemperatur durch vorsichtige Fingerprobe prüfen und
vor einem Neustart den Motor ausreichend abkühlen lassen. Die Temperatur ist richtig, wenn Sie den Motor problemlos berüh-
ren können. Insbesondere bei hohen Außentemperaturen kann dieses bis zu 15 Minuten dauern.
Denken Sie immer daran: Niemals auf Personen und Tiere zufliegen.

fuselage.
Ne branchez l’accu de propulsion que si vous êtes sûr que votre émetteur est allumé et que l’élément de commande moteur est
en position ARRET.
Ne mettez pas vos doigts dans l’hélice! Attention à la mise en marche, demandez également aux spectateurs de reculer.
Entre deux vols, vérifiez en posant un doigt dessus, la température du moteur, laissezle refroidir suffisamment avant le prochain
décollage. La température est correcte si vous pouvez maintenir votre doigt ou votre main sur le moteur. Le temps de
refroidissement peut varier jusqu’à 15 minutes s’il fait particulièrement chaud.
Pensez-y toujours: ne volez jamais vers ou au-dessus des personnes ou des animaux.
Safety notes
Before every flight check that the motor and propeller are in place and secure - especially after transporting the model, and after
hard landings and crashes. Check also that the wing is correctly located and firmly secured on the fuselage before each flight.
Don’t plug in the battery until you have switched on the transmitter, and you are sure that the motor control on the transmitter
is set to “OFF”.
When the model is switched on, ready to fly, take care not to touch the propeller. Keep well clear of the propeller disc too, and ask
spectators to stay back.
Allow the motor to cool down after each flight. You can check this by carefully touching the motor case with your finger. The
temperature is correct when you can hold your finger on the case without any problem. On hot days this may take up to 15
minutes.
Please keep in mind at all times: don’t fly towards people or animals.

Prima di ogni decollo controllare che il motore e la eliche siano fissati stabilmente - specialmente dopo il trasporto, atterraggi
duri e se il modello è precipitato. Controllare prima del decollo anche il fissaggio e la posizione corretta delle ali sulla fusoliera.
Collegare la batteria solo quando la radio è inserita ed il comando del motore è sicuramente in posizione ”SPENTO”.
Prima del decollo non avvicinarsi al campo di rotazione della eliche. Attenzione alla eliche in movimento - pregare che eventuali
spettatori si portino alla dovuta distanza di sicurezza!
Tra un volo e l’altro controllare cautamente con le dita la temperatura del motore e farli raffreddare sufficientemente prima di
ogni nuovo decollo. La temperatura è giusta se si possono toccare senza problemi. Specialmente con una temperatura esterna
alta questo può durare fino a 15 minuti.
Fare attenzione: Non volare mai nella direzione di persone ed animali.

¡Pedir a los espectadores que se aparten!
Entre los vuelos hay que comprobar cuidadosamente la temperatura del motor con el dedo y dejar que el motor se enfríe antes
de volver a despegar. La temperatura es correcta, si puede tocar el motor sin problemas. Sobretodo en el caso de temperaturas
del ambiente muy altas, esto puede tardar unos 15 minutos.
Recuerde: No volar nunca hacía personas o animales.

Building instructions
1. Examine your kit carefully!
MULTIPLEX models are subject to constant quality checks throughout the production process, and we sincerely
hope that you are happy with the contents of your kit. However, we would ask you to check all the parts before you start
construction, with reference to the parts list, as we cannot exchange components which you have already worked on.
If you find any part is not acceptable for any reason, we will readily correct or exchange it once we have examined it. Just
send the component to our Model Department. Please be sure to include a brief description of the fault.
We are constantly working on improving our models, and for this reason we must reserve the right to change the kit
contents in terms of shape or dimensions of parts, technology, materials and fittings, without prior notification. Please
understand that we cannot entertain claims against us if the kit contents do not agree in every respect with the instructions
and the illustrations.
Caution!
Radio-controlled models, and especially model aircraft, are by no means playthings in the normal sense of
the word. Building and operating them safely requires a certain level of technical competence and manual
skill, together with discipline and a responsible attitude at the flying field. Errors and carelessness in
building and flying the model can result in serious personal injury and damage to property. Since we, as
manufacturers, have no control over the construction, maintenance and operation of our products, we are
obliged to take this opportunity to point out these hazards, and to emphasise your personal responsibility.

Important:
This model is not made of styrofoam but polypropylene particle foam!
This material cannot be joined using white glue. Epoxy resins are reasonably effective provided that the foam surfaces
are well sanded beforehand. However, we recommend the use of hot-melt adhesive and a glue gun. Hot-melt glue
sticks and guns are available in many model shops, DIY shops and builders merchants. The most suitable glue sticks
are the soft, flexible types. Please note when using hot-melt glue: be sure to trial-fit the parts dry” (without glue).
Apply the adhesive sparingly, and join the parts immediately. Note that an excessive application of hot glue will
damage the foam, as the heat melts the material before the glue bonds.

1. Preparation:
Carefully ease the die-cut parts out of
the sheet using a balsa knife if
necessary, clean up the edges
with abrasive paper and group them
according to the version you intend to
build. Assemble the parts dry,
check that they fit accurately, then glue
them together using white glue or
cyano. For the glow version it is
absolutely essential to fuel-proof the
wooden parts with thin epoxy or paint;
for the electric version this is not
necessary, but still recommended.
2. Motor mount:
When assembling the motor mount
note that the motor thrustline must be
angled to the right, i.e. part 24 must be
fitted on the right-hand side as seen
from the tail, and part 26 on the left.
Glow version
Electric version
Prepare the undercarriage mount as
follows: press all the parts out of the die-
cut sheet, trim them to fit and join them
using white glue or epoxy.
The dowels, parts 50, are not fitted until
a later stage. For the glow version it is
absolutely essential to fuel-proof the
wooden parts with thin epoxy or paint;
for the electric version this is not
necessary, but still recommended.
The next step is to release the elevators
attached to the tailplane 02, so that
they can hinge up and down. Do this
by making a careful cut with a fine-
tooth saw at right-angles to the hinge
line. Install the joiner strip 41 and the
elevator horn 82. Be sure to use hot-
melt glue and a glue gun for these
joints. Apply the adhesive sparingly and
join the parts immediately.
3. Preparing the fin and rudder:
Cut slots for the hinges 83 using a balsa
knife and glue the hinges in place using
hot-melt glue. Assemble the tailwheel
unit from parts 64, 66, 81 and 85, and
glue it in the rudder together with the
horn 82 and parts 32.
4. Completing the fuselage:
Screw the screw-hook 86 into the
wooden dowel 50 and glue the dowel
in the fuselage. Cut the RC cradle 10 to
size and trim it to fit, then fix it in place
with hot-melt glue (be sparing with the
glue to avoid warping the plastic
cradle). Extend the servo cables using
filter leads, and place them in the
fuselage. You may wish to secure the
cable ends with adhesive tape so that
they don’t get in the way as
construction proceeds. Wrap each servo
in a piece of heat-shrink sleeving or
adhesive tape, and glue them in place
using hot-melt adhesive. Install the
wooden strip 40 to reinforce the tail end
of the fuselage. Glue the prepared
undercarriage mount in place together
with the wooden dowels 50.
5. Installing the fin and tailplane
Glue the prepared fin and tailplane to
the fuselage, and fit the rear turtle-deck
at the same time. Install the plastic
sleeve 70 as shown; the receiver aerial
runs through this and is fixed to the fin
with a rubber band.
6. Preparing the wing 01
Release the ailerons by slitting with a
fine-tooth saw and carefully deflect
them to and fro until they move freely.
Wrap each aileron servo in a piece of
heat-shrink sleeving and glue them in
place using hot-melt adhesive. Thread
the servo leads into the fuselage. Check
wing alignment by measuring, and
mark the correct position. When you are
confident that everything fits correctly,
apply hot-melt glue to the fuselage /
wing joint, and immediately fit the wing
in the previously marked position. Hold
the parts exactly in this position until
the glue has set hard.
7. Control surface linkages
All four control surfaces are actuated
using the same system, as shown in Fig.
11. Connect the pre-formed end of the
pushrod to the servo output arm. Screw
the pushrod connector to the large hole
in the control surface horn, and secure
the nut with a drop of paint or similar.
Connect the control surfaces in such a
way that the full servo travel can be
exploited. The control surface travels are
stated in the section entitled “Settings”.
8. Installing the motor mount
You have already decided whether you
are building the electric or glow version
by assembling the appropriate motor
mount. The motor mount can now be
glued in place. Electric version: install
the geared motor, connect the speed
controller and carry out a test run. When
you are sure that everything is correct,
glue the “fueltank cover” 03 in place.
This is essential to provide adequate
structural strength.
Glow version: prepare and install the
fueltank (a suitable tank is available
under #72 4144). Drill an additional hole
in the fueltank cover for the fueltank
pressure line. Run the pressure line
through the hole and connect it to the
pressure nipple on the silencer. Wrap
the tank in a thin layer of foam rubber
(to avoid the fuel foaming), and then
glue the tank cover in place. This is es-
sential to provide adequate structural
strength.
9. Installing the receiving system
In the electric version the receiver
battery and receiver are installed under
the rear turtle deck, and secured using
Velcro (hook-and-loop) tape. If your
speed controller includes an
adequately rated BEC system you may
be able to manage without the receiver
battery.
Be careful! In this case there must be
no hint of stalled servos, and the control
surfaces must move freely.
For the glow version you will also need
a throttle servo. Wrap this servo in a
heat-shrink sleeve and fix it to the
battery cradle using cyano, with the
pushrod running forward to the motor.
Glue the snake outer to the motor
bulkhead and the fuselage side about
3 cm forward of the servo using a few
drops of glue.
You can adjust the Centre of Gravity
(CG) to suit the weight of the motor you
have installed by re-positioning the
receiver battery. There are three
possible positions: 1. behind the
fueltank, 2. behind the throttle servo, or
3. behind the receiver. Glow version:
pack the receiver in foam rubber and
install it under the rear turtle deck.

10. Motor cowl and canopy
Trim the canopy to fit neatly on the
canopy frame; the ideal tool for
trimming is a pair of curved scissors. You
may wish to decorate the interior of the
cabin in your choice of colour scheme
before gluing the canopy in place. A
“head and shoulders” pilot can also be
fitted.
The cabin is held to the fuselage by
means of a rubber band fitted to the
canopy frame and the hook / dowel
already fitted to the fuselage (see
overall view). Prepare the motor cowl by
cutting the openings required to suit
the glow or electric version, and the
motor you have installed. The cowl is
held in place with screws at the top and
the front.
11. Undercarriage
Fix the undercarriage in place using the
screws 91, as shown in the illustrations.
12. Final assembly,
settings
Check all glued joints and all the
linkages one last time. The CG should
be within the range 100 - 110 mm aft
of the wing root leading edge. Adjust
the battery position to achieve this, or
add lead ballast if necessary. The correct
motor thrustline is built into the motor
mount, but you may find that test flying
shows the need for fine adjustments.
Always measure the control surface
travels at the widest point of the control

First flight ...
Do not attempt to test-glide this
model!
The model should be launched at full-
throttle, either from the ground or from
your hand. Always launch straight into
wind.
For the first flight we recommend
that you ask a friend to launch for
you.
For a ground take-off allow the model
to pick up speed slowly, holding full up-
elevator all the time, and correct the
tracking with the rudder / tailwheel.
Allow the model to accelerate further
at full-throttle, then gradually return
the elevator to neutral so that the tail
rises to the horizontal. When the model
has reached lift-off speed apply up-
elevator deliberately to take off. Use the
elevator to produce a shallow climb,
maintaining good speed all the while.
When you reach a safe height, adjust
the transmitter trims as necessary so
that the model flies dead straight
“hands off.
At an adequate altitude check how the
model responds when the motor is
switched off or throttled right back.
Carry out a simulated landing approach
at height so that you are prepared for
the model’s handling when the flight
pack runs down or the glow motor cuts.
In the initial phase don’t attempt to fly
tight turns at low altitude, especially on
the landing approach. It is always better
to land safely even if it means having
to walk some way to retrieve the model,
than to risk a crash by landing at your
feet. It is best to land the model with
the motor running at a high idle speed.
Safety
Safety is the First Commandment when
flying any model aircraft. Third party
insurance should be considered a basic
essential. If you join a model club
suitable cover will usually be available
through the organisation. It is your
personal responsibility to ensure that
your insurance is adequate (i.e. that it
covers powered model aircraft).
Make it your job to keep your models
and your radio control system in perfect
order at all times. Check the correct
charging procedure for the
rechargeable batteries you are using.
Make use of all sensible safety systems
and precautions which are advised for
your system. An excellent source of
practical accessories is the MULTIPLEX
main catalogue, as our products are
designed and manufactured
exclusively by practising modellers for
other practising modellers.
Always fly with a responsible attitude.
You may think that flying low over other
people’s heads is proof of your piloting
skill; others know better. The real expert
does not need to prove himself in such
childish ways. Let other pilots know that
this is what you think too, as its in all
our interests. Always fly in such a way
that you do not endanger yourself or
others. Bear in mind that even the best
RC system in the world is subject to
outside interference. No matter how
many years of accident-free flying you
have under your belt, you have no idea
what will happen in the next minute.
