Adjusting Print Density and Screen Contrast
Rotate the Print Density dial at the bottom right of the VisiMate® Specialty Printing
System (Figure 2-2) to adjust the printed output’s color density. The Print Density dial
controls the level at which the ribbon applies color to the tape, so you can make your
printed output fainter or more saturated as it appears on the tape.
Adjust the screen contrast setting to affect the brightness of the display screen by
rotating the Screen Contrast dial at the bottom right of the VisiMate® System (Figure
2-2). The Screen Contrast dial controls the screen display’s ratio of light to dark and
background to foreground.

Installing Supplies
The next step in setting up your VisiMate® System is installing a ribbon cartridge and a tape
cartridge. VisiMate® reads information stored in the memory cell flag located on each
ribbon and tape cartridge, and uses that information when you compose an item and when
you print it.
The system reads the memory cells on the cartridges when you open and close the printer,
whether you install new supplies or not, and when you print.
Note: Before composing a label, install the print supplies. You can change supplies during
the composition process, but you may have to make length or color adjustments to the item
before printing it.
