AMS Import Procedure for Repair

This document outlines the import compliance procedure for Machinery Health Management when issuing RMAs to international customers. It applies to all RMAs for Warranty, Support Agreement, or Billable Repair work.

Responsibilities

  • It is the responsibility of all Emerson employees to inform customers of these import compliance requirements.
  • Customers must email or fax a copy of the commercial invoice and air waybill for review to [email protected] or fax 865-218-1876 before shipping the item to Knoxville.

This document’s purpose is to outline Machinery Health Management’s import compliance
procedurewhenissuingRMAstointernationalcustomersincludingCanada,Mexico,andPuerto
Rico.ThisappliestoallRMAsforWarranty,SupportAgreement,orBillableRepairwork.
It is the responsibility of all Emerson employees to inform our customers as to these import
compliance requiremen
ts. This procedure may be distributed to all customers to aid them in
ourimportcompliancerequirements.
Additionally,customersmust emailorfaxacopyofthecommercialinvoiceandairwaybillfor
reviewto:[email protected]
orfax8652181876beforeshippingthe
item to Knoxville. Upon receipt, Trade Compliance will review the customer’s documents to
ensure they meet our import compliance requirements. Once all documents have been
approved,Trade CompliancewillnotifythecustomerthattheitemcanbeshippedtoKnoxville.
FailuretodosocouldresultinseveredelayinimportationintotheU.S.A.
For all RMA returns, the customer must include the following information on a commercial
invoiceand/orairwaybillwitheachshipment:
1. RMANumber:TheRMAnumber must be listed on thecommercialinvoice and
airwaybill.
2. ItemDescription:Acompleteandaccuratedescription of itemsreturningmust
be included on the commercial invoice, e.g. 2120 Machinery Health Analyzer,
2130 Machinery Health Analyzer, 9210 Machinery Health Transmitter, or 8225
LaserAlignmentSystem.
3. CountryofOrigin:AftertheRMAhasbeenissued,TradeCompliancewillaidthe
customerintheassignmentofthecountryofori
gin.
4. U.S. HarmonizedTariff System (USHTS):After the RMAhas been issued, Trade
CompliancewillaidthecustomerintheassignmentoftheproperUSHTScode.
5. Itemsthatarebeingreturnedforanytype ofrepairs,upgrade,and/orcalibration
must have the sale value on the invoice. The following statement must be
declaredonthecommercialinvoice:ItemBeingReturnedforRepair”.
6. Manufacturer’s Affidavit:During the document review process, Trade
Compliance will provide the customer and brokera Manufacturer’s Affidavit to
expediteclearance.

7. Hazardous Shipments:Any chemicals, lithium batteries, paint, or other
hazardous materials shipment by any method, including hand carrying, is
prohibited without the prior written approval of the PlantWeb Compliance
Manager.
Machinery Health Management will not be responsible for importation delays, payment of
additional duty, demurrage, or other U.S. Customsrelated or any transportation charges
associatedwithdeviationfromthisprocedure.
