Time module for AC control

Edition: 1st from the 23rd May of 2008
Supercedes edition: ----------
1. Technical description.
1.1. General description.
PC2 (AWZ 518) time module is used for control of AC supply state of object alarm systems (monitoring
transmitters, alarm centrals, DC power supply unit etc.). The module makes it possible to pass information about decay
of AC supply with the set delay time of T (3s/63s/17m37s/4h45m, +/-2%) and information about recovery of AC supply.
Recovery of AC voltage (transient) during counting of T delay time triggers counting reset (i.e. stop and return to the
normal state). The module has an AC1 input that shall be connected to a secondary wiring terminal of a transformer
supplying the device (the module shall be supplied by 12V/DC, i.e. the device to which the controlled transformer
terminal is connected). PC2 has two OC outputs (OC1, OC2) and a LED (L1) indicating the state of the device. Two Z1
and Z2 jumpers are used for configuration of the signalling delay time of AC supply decay.

2. Installation.
2.1 Requirements.
The time module shall be mounted by the qualified installer having appropriate (required and necessary for a
given country) permissions and qualifications for connecting (operating) low-voltage installations. The unit shall be
mounted in closed rooms, according to the environment class II, of the normal air humidity (RH=90% max. without
condensation) and the temperature within the range from -10°C to +40°C. The module shall be connected only to power
sources having galvanic (transformer) separation from the network supply.
The unit shall be mounted in a metal casing (a cubicle, a terminal device) and in order to fulfill LVD and EMC
requirements the rules for power-supply, encasing and shielding shall be observed according to application.
2.2 Installation procedure.
1. Install a casing (a cubicle etc.) and lead cables through cable penetrations.
2. Install the PC2 time module on mounting pins or assembly belt (the pins shall be installed before a casing or a cubicle
is mounted).
3. Supply DC voltage to +VDC, -VDC terminals retaining polarization.
4. Supply AC controlled voltage to AC1 terminal.
5. Connect the signal of AC decay, i.e. OC1 or OC2 (depending on purpose of application) to a signalling device (LED,
transmitter input, central input, indicator etc.).
6. Fix the signalling delay time of OC1 and OC2 outputs by means of Z1 and Z2 jumpers.
7. After the tests and operation control are performed, a casing (a cubicle etc.) shall be closed.
