• Soundcanbedeceiving.Overtimeyourhearing‘comfortlevel’
adaptstohighervolumesofsound.Soafterprolongedlistening,
whatsounds‘normal’canactuallybeloudandharmfultoyour
hearing.Toguardagainstthis,setyourvolumetoasafelevel
beforeyourhearingadaptsandleaveitthere.
To establish a safe volume level:
• Setyourvolumecontrolatalowsetting.
• Slowlyincreasethesounduntilyoucanhearitcomfortablyand
clearly,withoutdistortion.
Listen for reasonable periods of time:
• Prolongedexposuretosound,evenatnormally‘safe’levels,can
alsocausehearingloss.
