Introduction
Using a GPS Training Device
Your Timex Ironman GPS watch features a built-in GPS. Once connected and receiving signal
from the constellation of GPS satellites, your GPS provides distance, speed/pace and elevation
information. For best performance, wear the watch on your wrist with the display facing the open
sky.
Best Practices
To get the best performance from your TIMEX IRONMAN GPS watch, it is suggested that you
download and use the Timex Connect Computer Application: www.timex.com/GO
Your TIMEX IRONMAN GPS watch uses satellite data (long-term satellite orbit prediction),
downloaded to your watch, to give:
Faster GPS fix
More accurate distance and pace / speed data
Improved battery life
GPS data (also known as ephemeris data) is contained in a file that is automatically
downloaded to your Timex Watch whenever you connect to the computer application. A valid
internet connection is all that is required. This GPS data is valid for up to four (4) days,
therefore, Timex recommends connecting your watch to the computer application daily to
charge your watch, upload your workout files and obtain current GPS ephemeris data. These
regular updates will ensure your GPS watch is running optimally.
NOTE: If you are using a wall adapter to charge your watch, the GPS ephemeris will not be
downloaded to your watch. You must connect to the Timex Connect computer application to
receive current GPS data files used by the watch.

Charging
Before using the watch for the first time, it is recommended that the watch be fully charged (this
will take approximately 2.5 hours). For the quickest charging times, use the included micro USB
cable (or other universal micro USB cable) with a universal AC adaptor.
6
You can also connect your watch to the USB port on your computer for charging.
NOTE: Before connecting the micro USB cable to the port on the back of the watch, make sure
there is no moisture or debris in the port. If moisture is present, uncover the port and allow the
port to dry out. If debris is visible, gently remove it by lightly tapping the watch on a surface or by
using a gas duster. See Cleaning Your Watch for more details.
