INTRODUCTION
The RocketLinx ES7206-XT is an industrial 6-port Gigabit 802.3af/at PoE
Voltage Boost Switch.

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
YoucanusethefollowinginformaontoinstalltheES7206-XT.TheES7206-XT
istobeconnectedtoPoEnetworkswithoutroungtooutsidetheplant.
Wiring the Power Inputs
TheES7206-XTprovidesredundantpower,reversepolarityprotecon,over-
currentproteconandacceptsaposiveornegavepowersourcebutPWR1
andPWR2mustbeappliedwithpowersourcesofthesamepolarity.
Theterminalblockaccepts12-24AWGwire.UseaULlistedpowersupply
withtherequiredoutputvoltageof12-36VDCtodeliverIEEE802.3atPoEPlus
onallPoEports(Ports1-4).Thepowersupplymustberatedasfollows:

Powershouldbedisconnectedfromthepowersupplybeforeconnecngitto
the switch. Otherwise, your screwdriver blade can inadvertently short your
terminalconneconstothegroundedenclosure.
1. InserttheposiveandnegavewiresintoPWR+andPWR-contacts
(PWR1andPWR2).Youcanconnectasinglepowersupplyortwopower
supplies depending on your requirements.
Ifbothpowerinputsareconnected,theES7206-XTwillbepowered
fromthehighestconnectedvoltage.Theunitcanbeconguredto
signalanalarmforlossofpowerineitherPWR1orPWR2.
2. Tighten the wire-clamp screws to prevent the wires from being
loosened.
Note: When the ES7206-XT is in operaon, cauon must be taken to not touch the hot
surface of the product enclosure.

Wiring the Alarm Relay Output
Thealarmrelayoutputordigitaloutput(DO)contactsareontheterminal
block connector. The alarm relay output contacts are normally open. The
alarmrelayoutputcontactsclosewhenthealarmisenabledwiththeDIP
switches and there is a port link failure or PoE failure on a port.
Therelaycontactsupportsupto0.5Aat24VDC.Donotapplyvoltageand
currenthigherthanthespecicaons.
Thealarmrelayoutputiscontrolledbythepre-denedrules.Toacvatethe
alarmrelayoutputfuncon,refertothefollowingdrawing.

Grounding the ES7206-XT
Wiretheearthgroundtoensurethesystemisnotdamagedbynoiseorany
electricalshock,werecommendthatyoumakeadirectconneconbetween
the ES7206-XT and earth ground.
Usingascrewdriver,loosentheearthgroundscrewontheboomof
theES7206-XTandthenghtenthescrewaertheearthgroundwireis
connected.

TheDINrailclipisaachedtotheES7206-XT.
1. InserttheupperendofDINrailclipintothebackofDINrailtrackfrom
its upper side.
2. LightlypushtheboomofDINrailclipintothetrack.
3. VerifythattheDINrailclipisghtlyaachedonthetrack.

Connecng the RJ45 Ethernet Ports
Connect one end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port of the
ES7206-XTandtheotherendtotheaachednetworkingdevice:

Port5isaGigabit(10/100/1000BASE-TX)port
Port6isaGigabitSFPport,whichisdiscussedinthenextsecon
TheportssupportGigabithalf/full-duplex.AllRJ45portsauto-detectthe
signalfromconnecteddevicestonegoatethelinkspeedandduplexmode.
AutoMDI/MDIXallowsuserstoconnectanotherswitch,hub,orworkstaon
without changing straight-through or crossover cables.
Link/ActLEDsarelittoindicatetracandlinkstatus,seetheLEDssubsecon
formoreinformaon.

Alwaysmakesurethatthecablesbetweentheswitchesandaacheddevices
(forexample,switch,hub,orworkstaon)arelessthan100meters(328
feet).YoushoulduseCategory5cableorhigher.
Connecng the SFP Port
You can connect an SFP transceiver to Port 6. Comtrol recommends using
Comtrol-approved SFP transceivers. Cross-connect the transmit channel at
each end to the receive channel at the opposite end as illustrated in the
gure.
