INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRIFTWOOD LOG KIT

[FOR USE WITH MODELS ALLUME™ 84 & ALLUME DLX 84, AND DRL4084 & DRL6084 FIREPLACES]

GENERAL INFORMATION

The driftwood log kit is to be used as a decorative addition to ﬁreplace

models listed on this instruction sheet. Please read this instruction

sheet in its entirety before applying this log media kit.

ALL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS IN THE INSTALLATION AND

OPERATION MANUAL PROVIDED WITH THE APPLIANCE APPLY

TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

Refer to the appliance installation instructions and care and opera-

tions manual (iico) for detailed instructions.

TURN OFF THE FIREPLACE AND ALLOW IT TO COMPLETELY COOL

BEFORE PROCEEDING.

TURN OFF GAS AND POWER TO THE APPLIANCE AND USE LOCK-

OUTS TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL/UNSAFE OPERATION.

WARNING

Only use materials listed here. Only media authorized

have been tested for use within the ﬁreplace and its

environment. Do not attempt to use any different

materials in the ﬁreplace. Doing so may be dangerous

and will void the warranty and will result in incomplete

combustion, sooting, and poor ﬂame quality.

WARNING

If media is not installed according to the installa-

tion instructions, ﬂame impingement and improper

combustion could occur and result in soot and/or

excessive production of carbon monoxide (CO), a

colorless, odorless, toxic gas.

PREPARING THE FIREPLACE FOR DRIFTWOOD LOG SET

1. To access the glass door securing latches, ﬁrst remove trim kit (if

installed) and screen barrier from ﬁreplace.

2. Lift the barrier to clear the bottom channel and swing the bottom of

the barrier out. Then lower the barrier to clear the top channel.

3. Pull forward and upward on the door latch handles to unlatch the door.

4. Swing the top of the glass door away from the ﬁreplace at about 15°

angle.

5. Carefully grip the door at the top and bottom, and remove it from the

fireplace. Place the door in a safe location for later re installation.

DRIFTWOOD LOG SET INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: Reﬂective glass liners (if applicable) should be installed

before any glass media is installed.

IMPORTANT: Glass media is required. Logs cannot be installed without

glass media installed. Install glass media in an even layer and DO NOT

place on pilot cover. See care and operations manual for details.

IMPORTANT: This log set is designed to cross over the burner in places

without resting on the glass media. No part of any logs should rest

directly on glass media over burner to prevent soot accumulation and/

or poor ﬂame quality.

NOTE: The area for installing logs measures 81” x 9-1/2”. All measurements

are taken from the left side of the ﬁrebox. For DRL6084 units with black

porcelain liners installed, subtract 1/2” from all dimensions.

NOTE: Dimensions indicate approximate location of each log. Some

adjustment may be necessary depending on gas type (NG or LP) and

appliance installation parameters.

NOTE: Refer to Figure 2 for placing Driftwood logs.

1. Place log G with forked end pointing toward the pilot and straddling

the burner. Front left (forked) end should be at 55-1/4”, and back

right end at 77”.

2. Place ﬁrst log B with one end of fork resting on log G. Left end should

be at 62-3/4”, and right end at 79-3/4”.

3. Place log H at right end of ﬁrebox with tips resting on logs G and B

and curved section around the right edge of the burner.

4. Place log F near front of ﬁrebox with left end at 32”, and right end at

46-3/4”.

5. Rest notch on log E with notch on log F with log E extending over

the pilot cover slanted to the back right. Front left end should be at

37-3/4”, and back right end at 45”.

6. Place log D against back of ﬁrebox between log E and log G. Back

left end should be at 45-1/2”, and back right end at 57-1/2”.

7. Place log K with short straight section and knot near front of ﬁrebox

parallel to opening, and longer curved section extending over burner

with end resting in shallow dip on the top back part of log E. Front

right end should be at 56-1/2”, and back left end at 41-1/4”.

8. Place second log B near back of ﬁrebox with one end of fork just barely

resting on log E. Back right end should be at 41-1/2”, and back left

end at 24-3/4”.

9. Place log J against back of ﬁrebox with curved limb at right end

extending over burner to the front of ﬁrebox (about an inch from the

front lip). Right end should be at 27-3/4”.

10. Place log A parallel to front edge of ﬁrebox with left side curling around

left end of burner. Right end should be at 18-1/2”.

11. Complete installation by placing curved portion of log C on curved limb

of log J, angled slightly to back right and opposite end toward front left.

Angle should not be so severe that right end of log extends over burner.

Back right end should be at 29-1/4”, and front left at 18-1/4”.

Re-installing Glass Door, Barrier, and Trim

10. Retrieve the glass door. Visually inspect the gasket on the backside

of the frame. Gasket surface must be clean, free of irregularities and

seated ﬁrmly.

11. Re-install glass door by placing the bottom edge of the door assembly

into the door channel on the ﬁrebox. The tabs on the bottom of the

door on each side will fall into corresponding slots on the door channel

of the ﬁrebox.

12. Re-install the barrier by sliding it upward into the top barrier channel,

then push back slightly on the bottom, and lower it into the lower

barrier channel.

13. Re-install trim assembly - if applicable.

NOTE: Operate appliance for 30 minutes after log set installation to check

for signiﬁcant impingement or sooting. Adjust logs as necessary to

minimize impingement if sooting is visible on logs.

NOTE: For DRL6084 units with

black porcelain liners installed,

subtract 1/2” from all dimensions.
