Dead Stop
The band rake is provided with a safety
switch (A/6) to avoid that, during steering
with the steering rod, the safety shifting
lever at the base machine must be
pressed.
To that end, however, upon mounting,
the electrical line of the dead stop must
be connected (as described in section
"Mounting the band rake", page 12).
Stop Position
When releasing the lever, the ignition
system is disconnected (engine is shut
down).

wheel holder with one
hand and unfix with the
other hand the
adjusting lever (D/1).
l
Slide the supporting
wheel holder upwards
or downwards, until
the desired ground
clearance is reached.
Then, tighten the
adjusting lever again.
Supporting Discs
for works at slight slopes
To improve guiding via the supporting
wheels for working at slight slopes, the
wheels can be equipped with supporting
discs (wheel centres F/3).
Additional Weights
for works on steeper slopes
For working on steeper slopes, mount
additional weights (F/1) to the wheels.
In this way, a good lateral guidance of
the machine is achieved.

4. Commissioning and Operation
Working with the Band
Rake
When transporting the band rake with
the base machine on public roads, the
regulations of the StVZO (Road Trans-
port Licensing Order) (e.g. rear
reflectors, protective covers) and of the
StVO (Road Traffic Code) must be
observed.
W
On the road or when driving
onto the field, only drive with
disconnected rake band!
Driving with Disconnected
Band Rake
Observe the following principles:
l
Set both supporting wheels such high
that the rake teeth have a sufficient
ground clearance and cannot be
damaged when driving on uneven
ground.
Transport velocity max. 6 km/h.
Driving with Connected Band
Rake
W
It is prohibited to stay in the
danger zone.
Prior to starting the works, remove
foreign bodies from the area to be
worked.
During working, look for further
foreign bodies and remove them in
time.
Check the area close to the machine,
in particular for children and animals!
Be careful near rotating tools – safety
distance!
During working with connected rake
band, driving forward and backward is
possible.
l
Start engine as described in the
operating instructions for the base
machine.
l
Connect the PTO-shaft with the PTO
shifting lever or the PTO shifting rod (in
this way connecting the PTO-shaft and
also the rake band).
l

Tedding
Turning
4
4. Commissioning and Operation
Tedding
l
Remove the swath board from the
band rake:
l
Adjust the supporting wheels such that
the resilient teeth of the rake band
slightly touch the ground:
l
Adjust the supporting wheel at the
discharge side somewhat higher to
ensure uniform tedding of the entire
mowed material.
l
Depending on the type of the mowed
material, accelerate more or less until
the rake band is optimally working.
l
During working, drive such over the
mowed area that the mowed swath is
between the two supporting wheels.
Turning
l
Remove the swath board from the
band rake:
l
For turning, adjust the supporting
wheels in the same way as for tedding.
l
When working on plain surfaces and
not excessively steep slopes, perform
circular movements with the machine.
l
When working on steep slopes, move
along the height lines and turn downhill.
Edition 01.99 Band Rake 5529 021 17
Swathing
4
4. Commissioning and Operation
Swathing
l
Mount the swath board to the band
rake.
l
Extract the square supporting pipe
such that the swath board is positioned
about 60 cm laterally from the reversing
point of the rake teeth.
l
Adjust the two supporting wheels such
that the flexible teeth are at identical
height and only slightly touch the
ground.
l
If the mowed material should wind
around the teeth, the following can be
the cause:
– the speed of the rake band is too low
(increase speed by accelerating),
– the swathing comb is too close to the
reversing point of the rake teeth (furt-
her extract swathing comb),
– the rake teeth are too close to the
ground (increase height of the band rake
at the supporting wheels).
Distributing Muck
The muck shall be of short straw
(chopped straw). The machine is used
for distributing muck out of the swath.
Depending on the required distribution
density, the muck can be repeatedly
distributed in the same or in opposite
direction.
After the distribution of farmyard
manure, always thoroughly clean the
machine.
Harrowing of Grassland
The band rake is also excellently suited
for harrowing of grassland.
The height of the supporting wheels is
adjusted according to the soil and local
conditions.
During this work, the teeth shall be
moved over the ground such that the
turf is slightly notched. The circulating
flexible teeth are grading mole- and ant
hills. Moreover, they remove grass
residues hindering the grass growth so
that the grassland is better ventilated.

5. Maintenance
Prior to every
maintenance, care
and cleaning mea-
sure, absolutely shut down the
engine and withdraw glow plug
connector or ignition key.
When working at the rake band and
at the resilient teeth, wear protective
gloves. Risk of injuries!
In case of blockages, shut down the
equipment, secure it and clean it with
a suitable aid (wooden rod). Replace
damaged working tools.
Pay attention to
rotating tools –
maintain safety
distance! Pay attention to following
up tools. Prior to working on them,
wait until they have come to a
complete standstill.
Observe the maintenance and care
instructions for the base machine
and the band rake:
Always after 25–40 operating hours and
after every cleaning with a high-pressure
cleaner, lubricate the following parts:
l
Prior to every mounting, clean the
coupling sleeve and slightly grease it
with a brush (4).
l
Lubricate the grease nipples at the
wheels with Bio grease.
l
The hubs of the belt pulley shaft and
the hubs of the pulleys are filled with
grease. After two seasons, dismantle the
hubs and fill them with new grease. (The
old grease must be removed and the
hub rinsed with oil).
The resilient rake teeth have self-
lubricating bearings and do not require
lubricating.

checked and changed as follows, if
required:
l
Loosen clamping screws (G/3).
l
Loosen counter nut (G/2) and turn it
back on the tensioning screw by some
leads.
l
Adjust tensioning screw (G/1) until the
V-belts (G/4) are tensioned.
l
Re-tighten counter nut (G/2) and
clamping screws (G/3).
l
Check V-belt condition (e.g. formation
of cracks); renew V-belt, if required.
General
Regularly check screws and nuts for
tight seating; re-tighten, if required.
All sliding or movable parts must be
slightly coated with Bio lube oil.
Cleaning
After every use, thoroughly clean the
band rake with water.
After cleaning with a high-pressure
cleaner, immediately lubricate the
lubricating points and shortly operate the
band rake to press off the entered water.
A grease collar shall be visible at the
bearing point. This collar protects the
bearing point against the entrance of
dirt, plant saps and water.
Storage
If the band rake is not used for a longer
time, then do the following:
a) thoroughly clean,
repair paint defects, lubricate lubricating
points and shortly operate the machine,
then spray Bio anti-corrosion oil onto the
rake teeth;
b) do not store
in moist rooms where artificial manure
is stored, in stables or adjacent rooms,
as in these cases heavy corrosion is
caused;

Recommendations: Maintenance and Repair
The trained mechanics of your agria workshop carry out expert maintenance and repair.
You should only carry out major maintenance work and repairs on your own, if you have the
proper tools and knowledge of machines and internal combustion engines.
Do not hammer against the flywheel with a hard object or metal tools as it might crack and
shatter in operation causing injuries and damage. Only use suitable tools for pulling the flywheel.
Recommendations: Lubricants and Anti-Corrosive Agents
Use the specified lubricants for engine and transmission (see “Specifications”).
We recommend using bio-lubricating oil or bio-lubricating grease for “open” lubricating points
or nipples (as specified in the operating instructions).
We recommend using bio anti-corrosive oil for preservation of machines and implements (do
not apply on painted external covers). Oil can be brushed or sprayed on.
Anti-corrosive agents are kind to the environment and degrade fast.
Using ecologically safe bio-lubricants and bio-anti-corrosives, you contribute to environmental
protection and to the wellbeing of humans, animals and plants.
