Puttingyourcomputerintosleepstateorshuttingitdown
Whenyounishworkingwithyourcomputer,youcanputitintosleepstateor
shutitdown.
Puttingyourcomputerintosleepstate
Ifyouwillbeawayfromyourcomputerforonlyashorttime,putthecomputer
intosleepstate.Whenthecomputerisinsleepstate,youcanquicklywakeitto
resumeuse,andbypassthestartupprocess.
Toputthecomputerintosleepstate,doeitherofthefollowing:
Click
andselectSleepfromtheStartmenu.
PressFn+F1.
Note:Waituntilthepowerindicatorlightstartsblinking(indicatingthatthe
computerisinsleepstate)beforeyoumoveyourcomputer.Movingyour
computerwhiletheharddiskisspinningcandamagetheharddisk,causing
lossofdata.
Towakethecomputer,doeitherofthefollowing:
Pressthepowerbutton.
Pressanykeyonthekeyboard.
Shuttingdownyourcomputer
Ifyouarenotgoingtouseyourcomputerforadayortwo,shutitdown.
Toshutdownyourcomputer,clickandselectShutdownfromtheStartmenu.

batteryforyourcomputer.
Checkingbatterystatus
Youcandeterminethepercentageofbatterypowerremainingbycheckingthe
batteryiconinthenoticationarea.
Notes:Aseachcomputeruserhasdifferenthabitsandneeds,itisdifcultto
predicthowlongabatterychargewilllast.Therearetwomainfactors:
Theamountofenergystoredinthebatterywhenyoucommencework.
Thewayyouuseyourcomputer:forexample,howoftenyouaccessthehard
diskdriveandhowbrightyoumakethecomputerdisplay.
Chargingthebattery
Whenyoundthatthebatterypowerislow,youneedtochargethebatteryor
replaceitwithafullychargedone.
Youneedtochargethebatteryinanyofthefollowingsituations:

Ifthebatterystatusindicatorstartsblinking
Ifthebatteryhasnotbeenusedforalongtime
Notes:
Youareadvisedtoinsertthebatterypackwhenusingyourcomputerto
preventsmallparticlesfromenteringtheinsideofyourcomputer.
Toincreasethelifeofthebatterypack,thecomputerdoesnotstartrecharging
thebatteryimmediatelyafteritdropsfromfullycharged.
Chargethebatteryatatemperaturebetween50°Fand86°F(10°C-30°C).
Fullchargeordischargeisnotrequired.
Removingthebatterypack
Ifyouarenotgoingtousethecomputerforanextendedperiodoftime,orifyou
needtosendyourcomputertoLenovoforservice,etc.removethebatterypack
fromthecomputer.Beforeremovingthebatterypack,makesurethecomputer
hasbeenshutdown.

Iftherechargeablebatterypackisreplacedwithanincorrecttype,theremaybe
dangerofanexplosion.Thebatterypackcontainsasmallamountofharmful
substances.Toavoidpossibleinjuryanddetrimenttotheenvironment,pay
attentiontothefollowingpoints:
ReplaceonlywithabatteryofthetyperecommendedbyLenovo.
Keepthebatterypackawayfromre.
Donotexposethebatterypacktowaterorrain.
Donotattempttodisassemblethebatterypack.
Donotshort-circuitthebatterypack.
Keepthebatterypackawayfromchildren.
Donotputthebatterypackintrashthatisdisposedofinlandlls.When
disposingofthebattery,complywithlocalordinancesorregulationsandyour
company’ssafetystandards.

Retainthedummycardforfutureuse.
