INSTALLING CLIPS ON ASPHALT SHINGLES
The IDP-113 Roof Clip can be used to secure HeatTapePro--and various other brands of self-regulating heat cable--to a variety of roong
materials including asphalt shingle roofs, standing seam metal roofs and rubber membrane roofs. Seal nails or screws used with this clip
with MKS-1022-1 butyl pads (preferred) or caulk with appropriate material depending on substrate (i.e., asphalt shingle, metal, etc.).
Use putty knife if necessary to loosen shingle
Install heating cable into clip
IDP-113 Heat Cable Roof Clips may be in-
stalled in many orientations on the roof. They
may need to be nailed or screwed on top of
the roong under certain circumstances, such
as at the bottom of a tracing pattern, Fig 1.
As an alternate to using butyl pads, apply a
large dot of silicone to the roof, Fig. 2.
Place MKS-1022-1 butyl pad (or caulk)

ADDITIONAL INSTALLATION DETAILS
IDP-113 Heat Cable Roof Clips should be installed in accordance with the heat cable manufacturers recommendations. Follow
all design, installation, assembly and test instructions carefully. This product must be installed by a qualied person in accord-
ance with this installation handbook and with the National Electric Code (U.S.) as applicable. All electric connections must be
made by a qualied electrician according to the electrical and building codes effective in your region. Do not use IDP-113 Roof
Clips for installation on slate or tile roofs as damage may occur to roof material. Consult roong manufacturer for components
approved for use on specic roong materials.
WARNING
Point A’, the width between each tracing pattern should be 24” for
most standard heating cable installations. Point ‘B’ is the tracing
pattern height, which changes project to project depending on the
eave depth. Extra clips may be used as necessary in areas where
extra stress may be put on the heat cable system. Refer to heat cable
manufacturers installation instructions for specics.
The IDP-113 Roof Clip can be installed on metal roofs using meth-
acrylate adhesives. Clean the area on the metal thoroughly before
installing the clip to ensure a good adhesive bond. Place clip on the
prepared surface and press down until the adhesive ows through
the holes. Do not trim back the adhesive as the excess ow through
helps hold the clip. Allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer’s
specications before installing heating cable.
